kur-splaaaaaaaaaash
Suz! Toons!
i wonder if the name The Goofy Gophers was a dig at Disney and Chip n Dale.
Mel Blanc worked himself some serious hours.
Thanks Suzanne ,a nice little break from the real world comes in handy some times
Digg it!
goodnite, folks
Hiya Pups–
Great splaaaaaash Suzanne!
And if Warner tried to do Hamlet on Saturday mornings today, no one would recognize it.
thank’s for opening the digg neuro
how’s everyone doing tonight? i figured we could use some silly tonight
Dugg
Suz, thanks so much for keeping our cartoon culture alive. Really, who doesn’t define our childhood without cartoons? I so remember Huckleberry Hound, Tom and Jerry, and the one about the Canadian Mounted Police!
These old cartoons are absolute treasures. And to think every scene was hand drawn!
The gophers are far classier than Chip and Dale !
Dugg, and thanks neurophius.
and they appealed to so many on so many different levels – the adults laughed just as hard as the kids did – just differently
true artists they were and very underappreciated. i love going through the utubes looking for just the proper one for sat nites
Now I know why the ham dislikes gophers.
Wgat a week this week has been serious talk of accountability by Pelosi and Whitehouse as well as Grayson.
And in the cinema, too! What was a movie experience without a cartoon?
Hundreds of drawings only slightly different…
A budget we can believe in too!
BETTY BOOP!
Banned.
a cartoon, a newsreel, either a second cartoon or a short story and then the first movie, followed by intermission, another cartoon, a light hearted ’social’ newsreel (usually featuring bathing beauties) and then the second film.
all for a quarter during matinee hours and for one dollar in the evening.
Where can I find Bullwinkle toons any one know ?
lotsa racist stuff or stereotypes in the old toons – some of the ones i remember from when i was a kid i won’t use here.
i’ve not been able to. there are a few snippets in the utubes but they are few and far between. would love to have some boris and natasha and moose and squirrel one nite.
Dudley Dooright!
I loved Mighty Mouse, Top Cat, Astro Boy, and all the other ones.
Suz, thanks for this one, it’s been years since I’ve seen it.
Question for the day: Does anyone get why John Cornyn is so eager to get rid of Jim Bunning. Yes, I know that Bunning is an erratic, crappy Senator, but what is it that makes him so much more erratic and crappy than the rest of the Republicans?
Sigh, all gone. At least we still have a dollar movie ($1.50 actually). The funniest thing is that the refreshment stand sells PICKLES for $2.50! Now that is so bizarre!
it was new to me – and i loved the quitting mr warner bit – which i remember in a daffy duck cartoon. maybe mr warner was being sent a message?
baby girl loves pickles at the movies. shaking head. i was happy to be able to afford both popcorn and a soda.
Oh, yes. Even a lot of Disney full movies. Dumby is totally racist. Part of our past.
Another question: Did anyone else totally miss Ann Coulter’s ‘joke’ about MSNBC and alternative proms? I mean, I’m gay, for Pete’s sake, and I STILL didn’t get that she was bashing Rachel Maddow. And now I’ve got this mental image of Rachel Maddow asking, “Is that all you’ve got?”
Good evening everyone……… how is everyone?
ooooh, i so like that mental image of yours. i can totally hear her saying that in my head with that puzzled look on her face.
Underdog !!!
Five bucks for a small coke.
The last time I took my kids to the movies I stopped at a Taco Bell three blocks away first.
I think I saved seventy eight fifty on snacks.
hey katy *waving south*
sweet polly purebred
No idea, but I’m guessing he asks questions. This is verboten in the republican party. But,,,,he’s now saying that if the repubs won’t support him, he’ll resign. A democratic gov will replace him! He’s not as dumb as he looks.
$2.50 pickles? That seems criminal!
jonny quest
speed racer
snidely whiplash
That is so funny — how did pickles and movies meet?
The Rachel Maddow show will be tons of fun on Monday!
he does appear to be good at playing hardball
What’s up Docs?

Hi Sweets. Doing well, thanks. You?
pregnant women at the movies?
Hey there Busted,
I’m so cheap, it was Lifesavers in my pocket and NO bathrooms directive.
Oh! Good answer!
but they don’t serve it with ice cream. tis a puzzlement…
waving back……. Suz
Elmore’s oldest son was accepted to California Institute of the Arts which is sponsored by Disney. This is an animation program. The youngest has been accepted at the Maritime academy. These are UC colleges.
“Would you like a medium for just twenty-five cents more?”
woohoo – forking wonderful news katy
*happy dance*
Heh heh,
Seventy-eight fifty. My brother always pays a buck two-fifty… is this Navy speak?
my dad used to say buck two fifty – he was navy
You would have to ask my Dad but Two bits and Four bits is still alive and well in some corners.
(G)
i would gladly pay Tuesday for a hamburger today
Doing well, finished week one of this chemo series…… I started taking it at night at the recommendation of other patients who have been taking it. It seems you sleep through the worst of the side effects…… it seems to work so far.
Hey Busted….. down at the Oregon coast……
Must be!
My darling brother was a Chief in the U.S. Navy for 14 years. He is a very funny man.
no racial stereotypes in that one !!
Do you remember Little Black Sambo cartoons?
Wow, I remember my granny in nyc with two bits…long years gone.
Hi, GregB. Tried to find a What’s up Doc vid, and it’s all more racism.
my dad was a cook in the navy for 20 years. he was a very funny man – dry midwest kinda sense of humor.
shave and a haircut two bits !!
Wowzers! Excellent news.
*drumroll*
Hey LooHoo, maybe we’ll just defer to Barbara Striesand and her film instead.
-G
Well, cool that they offer it at night. Are you with Kaiser? My daughter was able to go to a doc at night with Kaiser.
I LOVE KAISER and hope it will be a model for Obama’s health care program.
I am no longer a life long Republican. Thursday, I registered Democrat.
Yer in my prayers honey.
I hope ya catch some decent weather down there too.
Hugz.
I was super close to Scott and his Navy pals for many years. The fact that most of them were from the midwest shocked me. I mean, don’t most sailors come from seaside towns? Well, apparently not…not who we knew in the 1970’s.
Headlines!
Welcome aboard!
SPEW!!!!!!
See what beautiful ocean sunsets will do to some people?
Clap Clap Clap.
Welcome home.
Heh,heh, that is my Dad — he is 86!
dad was from small town kansas
drumroll……………………love you dear new Dem.
I knew you’d come to your senses ! LOL !!
haven’t told my girls yet – they are both r’s
I think she concluded that whatever the party stood for, and which could have been recovered and molded into a real party again, had left the building for good.
Am I close, Suz?
the chemo are capsules that I take for 28 days in a row
Yay Suz!
break it to them gently it’s bound to be quite a shock !!
pretty much so – i’m still a fiscal conservative but i am more socially liberal than i used to be.
they are both sick so i gotta wait until they recover
Die hard…comgratulation…
We all pushed hard for changes…congrats to us all for staying onthe progressive agenda faithfully. The netroots are changing the politics.
Today Obama sid he is ready to take on the lobbyists…
Really.
I have a lady friend who just had a lumpectomy and has to do Chemo five days a week, I don’t think she has started yet. I wonder if that is what she will do?
I have never heard of Chemo in pill form!
its what you get for hanging around a bunch of DFH…… ;)
What are the $5,000.00 pills? And glad you are avoiding the side effects.
2am time to catch some zzzzzs
Good night !
I don’t remember the Little Black Sambo cartoons, but I remember the restaurants!
g’nite billybugs
What? I apparently missed something.
i remember the cartoons and the restaurants. i’m old.
This drug is only for my type of cancer, there are three other pills that are specific for kidney cancer. This drug stops the cells from multiplying and also kills the blood supply or prevents new cells developing a blood supply. It is called Targeted therapy and is very expensive $5,000/month. Thankfully my insurance pays for this and my copay is $30
The UK just approved this drug to be given on their national health system.
Dontcha you wish you were there at CPAC fawning over Dear Rush?
My God, what a pack of sociopaths the GOP been reduced to.
Gingrich, Coulter, Limpbag, Joe the Putz, Pailin, and the rest the degenerates, pervs, frauds, shams and hucksters. It’s like a badly cast roller derby movie.
-G
cough up any more forkers?
She was in a film called What’s Up Doc. No racist stuff in it;)
-G
no thank you – i got my fill of hate-speak when i was married to the fundy
Stormy weather
great chase scene
CONGRATULATIONS!
They’ll get over it soon.
hmmmm yummy yummy thank you
No more forkers or coughing up blood. Wonder if my chunks were causing it……
And I agree with you…… getting rid of the ex was one of the best therapies next to meeting Elmore. Get the garbage out of my life and see Elmore turn into my knight in shinning armor…… and no Elmore does not have any brothers……
Never really thought of myself as a D or an R…believe in the constitution. the Cill of Rights. Labels are a way of tarring people. I vote agenda.
Oh my. I’m really out of it. I thought chemo was something that was done in a particular office or hospital for several hours. Am I way off or is this something new?
used to be not much difference between the two parties – at least in my book. i always voted my conscious not party line.
That’s a relief, ya got any sisters?
(sorry, I could have driven a tank through that opening)
Isn’t that the truth? This is pathetic for the republicans. Dick Cheney is their best chance for prez in 2010.
Health care for allews
Thanks so much, Al. Let me know when you want more. I’m drawing from our last 1000 bookmarks at his point, so I’m including 15 per pack until we get a bill number and can order 10,000 more.
Best,
Walter

Subject: Bookmark update: 58 locations and our second physician’s office!
Hi Wonderful Bookmark Crew,
Congrats to Susan Ellenbogen (bookmarks placed at Hostel Obispo) and to Jane Broshears (bookmarks placed at Offices of Jeff Herten, MD) for making a difference in the struggle to reform our broken health care payment system. We’re up to 58 locations where awareness of the only solution that makes quality, affordable care accessible to everyone is being increased. Two physicians now have our bookmarks in their waiting rooms!
I made two presentations in the past two weeks, in addition to our quarterly chapter meeting, at the meetings of the El Moro Democratic Club and of the Paso Robles Democratic Club. I spread around bookmarks at both meetings to wide acclaim, asked the audience to participate as bookmark representatives (either to develop new locations or to re-stock existing locations), and also introduced the state HCA’s efforts to raise $100,000 from $10 donations as seed money for a major TV and internet campaign on behalf of our state bill. I am happy to report that at least four new committed volunteers have emerged from those meetings: Paul Malykont, Al Barrow and Lee Greenawalt in Los Osos, and Lisa Mowery in Paso Robles. Woo-hoo and welcome!
On the subject of the proposed media campaign, major donors will step forward to buy air time if grassroots support is demonstrated by raising the seed money. Major Hollywood stars have offered their services at no charge and one member of the board also will donate production facilities. The campaign will run from late August, 2009 until late August, 2010, when our bill will arrive on the governor’s desk. If you have not already sent your $10 contribution, you can make your tax-deductible check payable to “HCA-Education Fund” and mail it to P.O. Box 549, Atascadero, CA 93423. Be forewarned, a statewide email blast will go out on this subject and it won’t be possible to remove people who have already contributed from the distribution list, so you will receive another appeal if you’re on the members and supporters database.
Has anyone on this email list placed bookmarks at The Novel Experience in San Luis Obispo? I would like to give credit where credit is due. The current bookmark location list is attached.
Thanks for all you do. If each of us secures only one more bookmark location we will achieve 100 locations, and then our job will be maintenance of stock at those locations to distribute 25,000 bookmarks in 2009. Remember to inform me of any new locations where you have placed bookmarks and the contact information. Likewise, reorder more bookmarks by email to me, including your mailing address. Please don’t phone. I get more calls than I can handle most days.
I will be sending an email blast to our local HCA chapter database soon to appeal for donations to print 10,000 more bookmarks that have our new bill number on them. I will hold back some bookmarks that don’t have the bill number on them for ongoing distribution to the public library branches.
Best,
Walter
PHONE NUMBER EDITED OUT IN MODERATION
P.S.-Some of this info will be repeated in the minutes of the chapter meeting that will go out to members next week. My apologies in advance of that.
In the past the treatment of cancer was use drugs usually IV that would be broad spectrum and patients had such toxic side effects. Currently they are working on targeted drugs either IV or pills that work on that specific cancer. If the drug only kills a specific cancer and not other healthy cells.
They have refined their combination and protocols of chemotherapy IV by long years of research in what works for a specific cancer and tumor type.
BTW another wingnut is gone ….. Paul Harvey died today
I’m afraid they’re going to resuscitate Gingrich out of desperation. He is many bad things, but not an idiot.
“Isn’t that the truth? This is pathetic for the republicans. Dick Cheney is their best chance for prez in 2010.”
Hold it…he has a date with the Hague court…can he still run for president?
going to bed….. everyone have a wonderful Saturday evening…..
Not clear on that! First, he’d have to be charged, which is looking shakey from an executive POV. But, thankfully, Leahy and Whitehouse are working overtime.
Gonna be interesting!
Night, Kates. Sleep well.
Ah crap, now we know “The rest Of the story”.
Paul Harvey was an old man but he did some interesting stories over the years.
g’nite katy
Gnite katymine, listen to the surf and sleep well.
Today was a good day on the bay…fastest row ever I think. one way 1.5 miles in 327 strokes light tail wind going out about 423 strokes so wind makes a big difference. Then walked neighborhood delivering flyers.
I am glad I can…my neighbor said her husband died in December they just moved in last year…he had a cherry PU he loved to polish…sad.
nite katymine
Goodnight Katy may the pitter patter of the raindrops keep your sleep deep.
Nite Katy, sweet sleep for you.
that’s it for me tonight pups. thanks for hanging out with me.
g’nite all
nite suz. me too
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich this morning. MoDo, in “Spock at the Bridge,” says President Bush’s insecurity inspired his strategies to go to war in Iraq and Afghanistan, while President Obama’s Vulcan-like cool confidence has redefined the missions around endgames. The Moustache of Wisdom, in “Super (Sub) Secretaries,” says with regions of disorder likely to multiply as the world’s economic crisis metastasizes, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s appointment of a diplomatic A-team may be exactly what we need. Mr. Kristof gives us “Franklin Delano Obama,” and says if President Obama can move the country toward universal health coverage, even gradually, he has a chance to join the pantheon of truly great presidents. Frank Rich has a word of caution in “The Ecstasy and the Agony,” and says the president’s speech to Congress, brilliant as it was, could still be undermined by unchecked populist rage.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah and a bit of cinnamon. I think I’m going to stay inside today. Right now it’s thundering and bucketing down rain, and there’s a tornado watch. I have a feeling even Hoover will decide to stay dry. Have a great day.
And it can’t rain too much up here in Athens.
