Not quite. But…
A political science class at Southern Methodist University received a surprise visit Tuesday from an expert on the topic: former President George W. Bush.
Bush popped in on professor Harold Stanley’s introduction to American government and politics class Tuesday morning. Stanley said he knew Bush was coming, but he did not tell his students.
Smart man, Professor Stanley, who by the way was an Eli. A college buddy?
"He talked about how political leaders are often suspected of making decisions according to the latest opinion polls," Stanley said. "His point was that you can’t do it that way. You have to do it according to your principles, and he hopes that is how he comes to be understood."
The Decider, reduced to pathetically spinning his legacy of Epic Fail to college sophomores.
Courtney O’Callaghan, sophomore journalism and advertising double major, said, “Congratulations on your new library.” Bush responded, “It should be a cool place.”
A cool place, yep. Maybe even groovy even.

Hey BT, I think you are “missing the bigger picture here”
:P
BT — this is an appropriate topic for your blog ;-)
Hey guys, and sorry to go OT, BT, but I find this to be very exciting, like maybe there is some sanity out there beyond progressive blogs:
far out.
You stole my comment. :>(
Bush graduated in 1968 while Stanley graduated in 1972. Not classmates, and likely didn’t overlap at all either.
What I learned in political science class today: Do what you want.
Awesome!
I think Bush meant the new library would be nicely air conditioned. That’s important in Texas, you know.
Wait a minute. I thought all Political Sci professors were supposed to be libruls.
Oh. I guess it’s different in Texas.
What I learned – it’s really, really, political. Sciency, not so much. And the same applies to political economy.
And don’t even get me started on actual sciency stuff!
From the article:
The ex-president was on campus to give a speech to one of Professor Harold Stanley’s political science classes in the Dedman Life and Science building.
In the Dead man Life! Heh.
Fools all…ya misunderestimated this WWIII hero. Billions can’t buy’ya luv but it can invent a helluva lieberry.
bush library;
air conditioning, a stripper poll and a lapdance.
stroke jobs, come ons and false impressions is all we ever got.
oh, and war we didnt need.
Right. I need to be blogging about something else. Always.

Ah, yes. The classic successful business strategy of ignoring your customers’ wishes.
Explains a lot about Bush’s successes over the years.
And this without questioning Bush’s principles (Geneva Conventions, Rule of Law).
Oh. I guess it’s different in Texas.
Indeed. Just found out UT’s got a big ol’ Straussian that Yale rejected years ago.

There will be two plaques in the foyer. The first one is the Ten Commandments, of course. The second one is The Principles of Bush:
1. Ignore that other plaque.
2. Create reality

What’s wrong with us?
I’ve been deeply skeptical of the nature of the human project since I had an interview for an apartment some years ago with a Ms. Grill. Much grist later we come to such as a thief named Madoff, a bankruptcy judge named Drain, and now this.
Don’t ever let anyone tell you life is random.

Don’t mind me, I’ve just been looking over the Capital Assistance Program.

3. instill fear
Has he ever had his IQ tested? Diagnosis is a critical first step toward mitigation.
$. Spend lots of money on friends
thanks for the link. hilarious! I guess pillow talk only goes so far to prevent a lawsuit.
“I don’t believe anything John Cornyn says,” the senator told the Courier-Journal. “I’ve had miscommunications with John Cornyn from, I guess, the first week of this current session of the Senate. He either doesn’t understand English or he doesn’t understand direct: ‘I’m going to run,’ which I said to him in the cloakroom of our chamber.”
5. Promote incompetence!
bunning/palin 2012.
the two-digit IQ team.
however, arrogance is a crucial first step towards litigation…
LOL
If Tom Lehrer were still active, he’d write a great song about litigation.
MSNBC had the emotion-meter and both the blue / red lines stayed pretty much in sync and pretty much stayed in the plus are the whole time I was watching. The only time I saw red line dip ever so slightly is when the President spoke of ending torcher. At this point, the red lined dipped ever so SLIGHTLY.

It’s sad that Santorum and Macaca are so badly neglected these days …
thanks. I watched on newshour, so I missed the line thingies.

7. turn friends into enemies
If I was there, I would of stood up and faced in the opposite direction until he left the room. A person responsible of crimes agaianst humanity, allowing the 9/11 attacks to occur on his “watch” and is reponsible for the devistation our country in more ways than one deserves NO respect.
8. Vacation often
I think I might, in this case, do what Bush would do. Cross my arms across my desk and put my head down for a little snooze.
As yes. The short version of U.S. foreign policy is: turn friends into enemies and enemies into friends. There too, W accomplished only half.
9. That’s ten, isn’t it?
New post–>
9. Bomb someone. Anyone.
HA!
Okay …
10. Bomb someone. Anyone.
10. butcher the language
i thought they were broken. expected there to be more distance between them.
I wonder if any students left. Bush and higher education and intellectual pursuits don’t mix
I am so glad you saw this….I was going to leave a note. Plus, today I see that he has a 10 speech tour planned. Are there really that many deadheads who want to listen to him stutter and smirk and lie, etc etc etc. Poor SMU; I am so embarrassed. He’s going to ruin the neighborhood and that fine campus. I hope the protesters cause a lot of disruption.
How fitting that someone of course had to explain what the man meant.
Words!! Words!! He can only mumble and lie…no his words don’t mean anything intelligible.
Jane has a new post—>
Well of course they didn’t overlap. Bush would have been out working The Jack and hitting the pipe when Stanley was in class…
”Stanley said he knew Bush was coming, but he did not tell his students. ”
That is so more than about 20 percent of the class would show up.
Well, maybe it helped that the kind of behavior exhibited in these videos are still fresh in everyone’s mind.
why is this creep still walking the streets?
