… while Pennsylvania has one Democrat and one Republican, Arlen Specter – who is a top Democratic target in 2010.

All Specter’s opponent needs to do is expose Single-Shot’s complicity in the cover-up of Jack Kennedy’s murder, and the bastard is toast.

Buchanan sez:

Let him go to Altoona ? And Johnstown Pa, and ask the white kids in Catholic schools how many were visited lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships for ‘deserving’ white kids.?

i went to an urban catholic high school. almost all white. not a single “rich kid.” plenty of kids got scholarships to good schools including Ivy League schools.

WTF is this guy talking about?

The interesting thing about Obama’s bipartisan efforts is that they make the Rs seem like even greater fools. Don’t know if that’s what he had in mind, nor whether the cost is worth the effort, but it does seem to be successful.

This morning on C-SPAN a guy called in with a Southern accent to say that he’s blaming SATAN & THE DEMOCRATS for the downturn of the economy. When the female host said, “Say wha? You’re blaming Satan?”, he answered back, “Yes, it’s Satan fault because the focus is always on saving the children…the little children…it’s just socialism!”.

Yep, the neocons are rewriting/rebranding EVERYTHING to make themselves feel better! Now they’re trying to convince us that it was Satan who was Jesus while Jesus was Satan. See?

Another history lesson from the American Taliban! No wonder Americans are pathetically dumb some days.

i’m a little late, but hey it’s only my own schedule…

Hearing List for Tuesday, February 24, 2009

The big hearing for the day will probably be the House Transportation and Infrastructure committee hearing on the US Airways Flight 1549 Accident, but this morning I’ll probably be watching either Ben Bernanke at the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban affairs committee or Dean Baker at the House Education & Labor committee and this afternoon Elizabeth Warren will be testifying at the House Financial Services committee.

flight 1549 hearing might be good for pups looking for something uplifting – where they good guys win and no one dies.

That’s what he sounded like. Finally said it might be time for tough love and let some companies go belly up. Host said does that include companies other than GM (AIG being the context). Corkhead sez yes. Maloney leaps in and sez, but senator, many companies have already gone bankrupt, including large banks that have been absorbed by others. Corkhead got deer in headlights look. At end of interview, Maloney reaches to shake his hand and asks him to work across the aisle. She pinned him, and barely turned an eyebrow. I used to think poorly of her, but she’s growing on me.

T-Boone Pickens on renewables. CSPAN WJ.

Per A. Siegel http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..68719.html

T. Boone Pickens efforts to convince the political leadership to invest heavily in a fundamentally flawed […but…] superficially appealing concept:

* Build wind turbines
* Use wind electricity to displace gas-fired electricity (about 22 percent of the grid’s power)
* Use that natural gas to replace imported oil in transportation

[…]

A very simple pie chart provides, for me, the stark summary of The Pickens’ Plan and why, fundamentally, T. Boone’s concepts are so dangerous at their core. …

It is a very simple pie chart entitled “US sources of electrical generation” with four wedges

* Coal: 50%
* Nuclear: 20%
* Other: 8%
* And, a wedge pulled out: Natural Gas, 22%

Remember, the basic concept of the “Plan”: use wind power to displace natural gas from the electrical grid and then use that natural gas to displace imported oil.

The problem?
That 50%.

I must be missing something. Picken’s plan has nothing to do with coal. All he wants to do is to generate more of our electricity with wind and shift more of our vehicles to natural gas. Both are good ideas that would make that greedy jerk a lot of money, but they’re still good ideas.

The way to renewables is not through Pickens and natural gas. He’s just playing on everyone’s fears of depending on foreign oil and gas.

Oil and natural gas production is really polluting and endangering our fresh water acquifers. Read NRDC’s “Drilling Down”. We don’t recognize this pollution because it has always taken place in foreign countries or out west in poorly populated vast stretches of land.
