Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has agreed to a three-book deal with Crown Publishers, starting with a memoir about her years in the administration of President George W. Bush…
The deal is worth at least $2.5 million, according to two publishing officials with knowledge of the negotiations. The officials asked not to be identified, citing the confidentiality of the talks.
Let’s see:
Volume 1: Pout and Prejudice.
Volume 2: Nobody anticipated the price of a Ghost Writer.
Volume 3: I’d tell you to walk a mile in my shoes, but you couldn’t afford them.
No word on who will pay Bush himself to color-in his memoirs. Apparently Highlights Magazine has passed on the excerpts.

About Firedoglake
Seriously, I say that any one with progressive thoughts at all should boycott this book. This may seem simple at first glance, but many people are curious. I say we need to stop our curiousity to send a real message to these truly nasty people. Let their message fall on NO ears!
For example, the only channel on my home television that is child locked is Fox News, has been locked out for as long as the availability has been there. This should be the case with every progressive out there. I am also boycotting CNN, and every show on MSNBC except for Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow. How else are we going to express our dicontent with their right wing politics? Join me, boycott main stream media that is constantly right wing, let them hear us through our lack of watching,….
Not so fast! Highlights is still interested in using a likeness of Bush for the “Goofus and Gallant” feature. Two guesses for which one.
This is money laundering does anyone expect Dems to buy the book? Last I checked we were 70% of the market.
The party of Ossama/Obama hates Black People so I do not expect them to buy the book.
Black Females looking for a role model perhaps? Not after Katrina that little incident took away her VP hopes. McCain went with Sarah Palin rather than her.
I wonder if the big corporations that buy the GOP’s books in bulk will use Stimulus money to buy her book? How can we find out which big GOP contributor or Corporation is buying her book in bulk.
Do the less tan 20%ers read? I could see them buying books on tape.
Cool! The only reason I watch CNN or Fox is if I want the right wing take on an issue or if I am having a real real big case of writers block.
Except for a drive by switching channels I don’t think I’ve watched CNN or Fox in a year.
I want people to be able to pick and choose what cable channel they get there is no reason any Mexican should have to pay for basic cable and get stuck paying for CNN Lou Dobbs or Fox News with Glen Beck.
Free Markets give me a choice! I hate knowing that I pay for basic cable and that some of my cash goes to these clowns.
Whats next Public access for the Klan?
Will her book tour forbid the press interviewing her about asking about war crimes? Do we have a free independent press or not?
Condi going to Prison for war crimes is the biggest story any reporter could write about.
Any reporter who does not ask her about war crimes is a Hack!
All of the Administration’s crimes, motives and co-conspirators are revealed here, by name:

Condi’s book a weak black woman who with a college degree and all who should no better sacrifices her Respect, Cred, and Future Prospects as VP all to help her Husband?
Well I hope she was sleeping with him otherwise just what excuse does she have for going along with Bush on such stupid and illegal plans?
Was Condi trying perhaps to belong to be White? GOP Country Club White?
Nite Folks:)
Was just catching up quickly and saw Sen. Shelby bringing up the Obama birth cert lie again. An LA Times “reporter” just did a fairy tale “report” about it a couple of days ago with the only source and quotes coming from Alan Keyes, and concludes with some line like, “And this story is proving to have legs and not likely to go away anytime soon.”
Why is there hardly any mention (none in the article) of the 1961 Honolulu newspaper with the Obama birth announcement?!?! This simple fact ends the story. Not to mention the Hawaiian officials, and all the people who have examined the birth cert saying it’s the real deal.

Seeing this in BigMedia AGAIN is such a perfect example of how easy it would be to be a Repub, when you have such control of the message. No matter how disproven something is, you can simply keep repeating and repeating it and get enough BigMedia mavens to amplify it, in order to give a sense of legitimacy to the made-up story. It just goes on and on…
Good morning, pups. It’s Cohen and Krugman this morning. Mr. Cohen is in Esfahan, Iran. In “What Iran’s Jews Say” he says the reality of Iranian civility toward Jews tells us more about Iran — its sophistication and culture — than all the inflammatory rhetoric. Mr. Krugman, in “Banking on the Brink,” asks why not just go ahead and nationalize? Remember, the longer we live with zombie banks, the harder it will be to end the economic crisis.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. I’m sitting up and taking a small interest in life again. This bug that’s going around Savannah is so widespread that when Mr. Marion in Savannah went out to score me some NyQuil on Saturday he went to 3 places and finally got the last bottle of the store brand at CVS. Thank heaven for our freezer and lots of turkey soup and chicken soup! Have a great day.
MOrning all. Snow yet again.
“These boots are made for talking”
you know they are eating their own, I am wondering if condi has decided to jump ship
if condi jumps ship, or best case scenario, in order to save the face of bush she gives up cheney
then cheney goes balistic and gives up the whole house of depravity
me cannot wait
and if condi does give up cheney then we should not boycott the book we should show them the path to financial independance will be their tell all books
hey, you guys want to bet the wing nuts go nutz if hillary ever war a split open gastapo suit in front of foreign heads of state?
imagine what the gop would do if they had the same pic of hillary
LOL!
Is Weekly Reader still around?
Bush and Cheney have already publicly acknowledged authorizing torture and said they’d do it again. Cheney did so directly, and Bush via spokesmen. Per Greg Miller, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer, February 7, 2008:
And, per John Yoo, WSJ, January 29, 2009:
Somehow their attitude reminds me of Himmler’s farewell speech to the SS at Pozan:
That same boastful pride in doing what needed doing.
Good morning everyone.
Thank you for that description. That’s how I view all these repub books but never found the words to describe it so perfectly.
OT-MoJoe talking about Jindal refusing the UIB money. Says the states would be required to continue to fund for 5-10 yrs after the stimulus money is spent. Yesterday, Landrieu said ‘not so’. Anyone know the truth?
Tuth is Jindal is a putz.
hey! we’re not to supposed to be criminalizing politics!
good morning.
I’m catching the end of an interview with Ortzag (sp?.) Seems Social Security reform is being tabled.
Someone is listening.
Rice was/is such a disgusting person. I see nothing about her that I like except apparently she studied classical piano. She gives even that a bad name.
Don’t know but a LA Repub state rep also disagreed with Jindal.
Sen. Robert Adley, R-Benton, who joined Landrieu on the media call, said, “We should never put ourselves in a position where we say we don’t want it.”
Adley said he does not think the unemployment benefits need to tie the state permanently to the program and that the Legislature could control the program’s impact in later years.

Per MadDog:
One person who is in the know told me that Social Security was never on the table. Rather it was simply cover for the true objective, Medicare.
Well, medicare is in trouble financially. Hey, I got it, how about Universal Healthcare as the solution./s/
They can tax me an extra $300/month and I’d still be further ahead.
well, that makes a tiny bit of sense….. but only if single payer is on the table too. your source know anything about that?
It will be on your local Dollar Store shelves withing a year (2 on the outside)
My curiosity can stand the wait.
i used to think the dems would have caught on by now.
Chuck Todd just laughingly said to MoJoe, “let’s be realistic, we’re going to be working to the day we die, there will be no retirement. We’ll get SS but we’ll still be working”. Seems the wealthy have been hurt financially.
I’m sure he does, and I’ll be having lunch with him on Thursday.
We need means testing on Soc Sec. Thereare too many people with way too much moolah to be getting Soc Sec.
Don’t agree with that.
no no no!!!
that would turn it into welfare. now it is, at least in part, more like insurance
the solution is not means testing, it’s very high (say 90%?) marginal income tax rates of anything over, picking a number out of nowhere, $1 million/yr.
That’s OK. WOuld you rather remove the cap on payments. I believe that it is at 107$K a year right now?
oh, that’s excellent…. are your making your list (of questions) and checking it twice? *g*
The last statistics I saw showed that the U.S. pays twice as much per resident as the average industrialized country, and doesn’t cover everyone, which the others do. Also, the U.S. health statistics aren’t among the best either.
It is the outrageous layer of profit for the INsurance Cos that makes the difference.
Yes.
Well, nothing needs to be done immediately. CBO says we’re good for 40yrs. But, if there was a looming disaster, I’d choose removing the cap before I denied payees the benefits they’d paid into for 45yrs.
single payer data-fest
Remember Michelle Bachman’s quip that we’re running out of rich people in this country. Hate to admit it, but I think she was right. The uber-wealthy are richer than ever, but the well-to-do are taking a beating.
If the cap were lifted everyone’s weekly payment would decrease, sort of like a tax cut.
It’s not only the insurance companies. The drug companies and everyone else is in on it. Per this article, ”It’s the prices, Stupid”: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/452954
Thanks, selise. Yet again the unseen hand lets us down.
exactly!
Marion: Yuk, I’m so sorry, I had been wondering about your whereabouts. Take good care, rest. My best, B
