Comedienne, actress, singer and political commentator Margaret Cho is a longtime outspoken supporter of LGBT rights, campaigning actively against Proposition 8 and appearing at numerous equal marriage rights rallies. Her acid wit and sharp political jabs, as well as her ability to push boundaries and speak outrageous truths have gained her international acclaim.
Fresh off her reality sitcom, “The Cho Show” and her international “Beautiful” tour, Cho is currently working on a comedy music album and co-writing for the release with artists such as Tegan & Sara, Patty Griffin, Kaki King and The New Pornographers. Cho plans to release the album in 2010, in conjunction with her next national tour, and is currently prepping new material in clubs across the country.
If you’re in the LA area, you can catch Margaret at Largo tomorrow night, February 24th, where she’ll be debuting some of her songs with Susie Suh, Garrison Starr and Grant Lee Phillips. In March, Cho will be performing at South by Southwest and also co-hosting the GAYVN awards with Janice Dickinson. Her new series "Drop Dead Diva" will premiere this summer on Lifetime.

About Firedoglake
As always, please stay on topic and no personal attacks on each other, no name-calling, ad hominem cranky outbursts etc. Thanks. (and yes I tpye horribyl)
Firedoglake Movie Night is pleased, thrilled and over the top to have as our guest Margaret Cho, comedienne, actress and political wit/commentator whose new career as a chanteuse was kick-started with a protest song at anti-Prop 8 rally in Cincinnati (on video in this post).
Margaret, welcome to Firedoglake! You have a (musical) show tomorrow night at Café Largo here in Los Angeles, and have been busy writing music, so thanks for making the time to for visit us and discuss politics, Prop 8, your career, Sarah Palin and anything else that strikes your fancy.
hi im here
Welcome!
this is cool. i never did this before.
it seems a little scary i don’t know why.
i am afraid i am going to misspell like crazy
How are you..I loved your entre into the musical world in Cincinnati, btw.. very catchy, great hook
I ma terible tpyist, no wories
Margaret, welcome to the Lake.
i am doing a big show tomorrow night at the new largo on la cienega. it’s going to be a lot of fun so people should come down.
Welcome Margaret! Thanks so much for being here. Lisa and I were lying around one night watching your show (I think it was on butt bleaching) and Lisa said “we should ask her if she would come on the blog for a chat!”
I’m glad I can be your first…we’ll be gentle with you.
The old Largo was one of my fave clubs ever..I saw you there a bunch on Monday comedy nights
oh thank you. i am having a lot of fun making music, but it’s still comedy. i think it would be weird to leave comedy entirely. but it’s just another way of performing. and it’s fun because i can pretend i am a protest singer. actually it isn’t pretend. i am doing it!
Exactly…is your show all music or do you do comedy in between?
oh thank you for having me. i didn’t keep up with the anal bleaching. it’s hard because you have to do it every day and i am lazy about stuff like that. i can never to put on eye cream so who’s gonna remember anal cream!
i am doing comedy for sure in between, and the songs are funny too, mostly. i am debuting my big miley cyrus song though, which will be more protest!
Margaret welcome to FDL.
Don’t worry, even the best of the typists and spellers are seriously error prone here (although not to the level of the previous Federal administration)
Question: Which has been more difficult for you to deal with over the years, being a woman in a male dominated field (as comedy is) or being an ethnic minority?
It was wonderful to see your mom and Selene on the show Selene was actually at my wedding reception (as was Jane!)..very small world in LA. Have you bene touring a bit wiht the music?
and as a technical note: If you are replying to a specific comment, there is a “Reply” button in the lower right corner of the comment box(es)
Love the Desmond Child theme song. I used to think I was the only fan evah of Desmond Child and Rouge.
i am not sure which is worse, being an ethnic minority or being a woman in this business. i think that because comedy is so male dominated, and the women comics get no support from the men at all – it’s really terrible, so i think that has to be worse. my ethnicity prevented me from getting cast in movies and television, but as a comic, i was always able to work. but having no support from the community is hard
We are allowed to talk about other things, right? I know you’re really strict about the on-topic rule.
that is why the majority of successful female comics are lesbians, because we don’t care what men think!
Margaret, thanks for being so open and funny about your experience with disordered eating. It helped me to see the light with my own eating disorder and that I can make it through. You and Amanda Palmer are so amazing at bringing humor (her song Oasis) to things that are thought of taboo. But not laughing, or talking about them is not a good direction for love, laughter, expression and freedom.
i love desmond child! that was a fun episode to make!
We are talking about Margaret tonight..and she got her but bleached…so sure..and she has some honest, forthright and funny opinions on politics, Palin and pop culture..so let’s go for it!
Your parents are a really sweet presence in the show. How has cable TV notoriety affected them?
Welcome to the Land of Tyops. Don’t let it slow you down…
Margaret — So great to see you here at FDL — have been laughing my ass off at your work for years. Your work on the Anti-Prop 8 commercials and your activism on that issue were truly inspired. Bravo to you and everyone else who stuck their professional necks out on that. (Inlcuding the Jack Black as Jesus skit which made me practically pee my pants laughing. Fricking hilarious.)
Wonderful, Margaret.
Welcome.
oh thank you! i love amanda palmer. her work is so important. she is my hero. i think it is very gratifying to talk about my experiences with body issues, because all that pain wasn’t for nothing. i spent years trying to kill myself for being ‘too fat’ only to realize there is nothing wrong with me at all. i am trying to spread that message. don’t waste your youth on this. you will wake up and be 40 and realize you are perfect and you could have been perfect all this time!
Butt bleaching is on-topic.
Margaret, I love your comedy. I quote you all the time. I’m living in Korea now, and a lot of times when I meet older Koreans I’m reminded of your imitations of your parents; they’re definitely Korean, haha. I hope you have a fantastic show (the 24th is my birthday, so I really wish I could have seen your show, but, alas, as I said, I’m in Korea now). Kick butt. I know you will. :)
my parents are very funny. they loved being on tv, even though they initially turned me and my show down. i just didn’t take no for an answer and i kept on them and they love it now. they are the most famous koreans i think!
Welcome! You were great on the True Colors tour. I never laughed so hard in my life. Thank you for being who you are.
butt bleaching is serious topic! i mean, why? i don’t know why people get it, but it makes them happy! i don’t understand it, but i am not real anal about those things. pun intended.
How did you parents deal at first wiht you being so opne about everything?
Margaret’s mom reading and kibbitzing about the gay porn is one of the funniest things of all time.
i saw you tweet you were here so i logged in and now i wish i had come up with a better screen name…other folks have very cool names…hi Margaret!
oh thank you! i loved doing true colors. you know it was really amazing for cyndi lauper to do that – put together a tour of incredible queer artists so we could end homophobia. it was the most fun summer tour ever too!
Hi Margaret, I saw your chat for tonight on Facebook. Love reading all your updates. I’m near Northampton, MA and it has been a few years since you’ve been here. Any chance we will see you this year?
pam~
i think my parents are in denial about everything that i talk about, queerness, sexuality, politics – they just use their selective understanding of english!
hi! jessica halem is the funniest comic out there – people need to go see her! where are you performing now jessica?
I love Margaret Cho! Welcome to the Lake!
Never heard of it before… My first thought was, it’s February… my butt is white enough now!
Maybe we should ask David Vitter’s diaper changer all about it.
Wow, I am speechless … Ms Cho is not only my favorite comedian but has been such a positive force in my daughter’s life – nothing helps a hiphop Korean girl who at 16 was stuck in the very white wilds of New Hampshire (though since escaped to Chi and now LA) than some Cho!
Thank you!
hopefully i will be there soon! i really want to come there too because i want to write songs with lloyd cole who lives there
Hi Jessica..when will you be in Los Angeles and where …?
haha!!!
Yet your father went to a gay bar, haha. It’s cute that they use that as an excuse, but it’s really nice to see how supportive they are of you now.
that’s so wonderful!!! thank you!!! i am glad you escaped!!
shoot…i really am a good online person but this is throwing me for a loop! I’m gonna be in San Fran the first weekend of March! And I think you should talk about (and it looks like others want to hear as well) how you’ve mastered online social networking! We love reading your blog, Facebook, twitter…
they are incredibly supportive. it is really lovely. we are very close as a family now, which wasn’t so for awhile. they didn’t really want me to go into showbiz, they were really worried about it. they would lock themselves in a closet and pray about it!!
Meant to reply to Margaret’s comment 42, sorry.
I’ll definitely be there. I’d love to get a signed picture of you for my celebrity wall. It makes my gays crazy.
Your blog is some of my fave reading..it was a gold mne for some of my early posts since I write about politics and pop culture..and you provided some excellent news for the Campaign Silo here…Thanks you!
where are you gonna be in sf?
i haven’t mastered online social networking! i just want to get laid, first and foremost, and then i want to just find another avenue for telling jokes. i also have a few really smart, hip young people who i work with who are always showing me the latest thing. these kids today are incredible!
Maragret did you watch the Oscars last night and what did you think? And do you have any songs about Sarah Palin?
thank you!! i want to write more. it’s hard when i am doing all this other stuff. usually that is the first thing to go, since i am not naturally ‘a writer’. i found people who are really writers have to write, that they don’t have a choice. if i had a choice, i would probably want to do something else. i think that my writing can be good, but i don’t have the burning desire to do it like real writers do. for me it’s a constant challenge to stay motivated
Hi Margaret, my nephew is a HUGE fan of yours and can repeat several of your acts verbatim. Unfortunately he is on some resort and is missing you on a blog.
When are you coming to Toronto ?
I’m doing the always funny “Lesbian Health Summit” on Friday night at Le Meriden (sp?) hotel and then Sunday night I’m gonna go to the open mic at Eros Sex Club so I can finally tell my glory hole jokes to a crowd that gets it!
I realize that portions of your television show were definitely staged (if not, I’m incredibly amazed), but I’ve been wondering about the scene where your mother bought the baby hanbok. Had you planned that in advance or was that a surprise?
i only watched a little – i was too excited about big love and flight of the conchords which i couldn’t miss!! but i was really happy that sean penn and slumdog millionaire won.
and i don’t have a palin song!! haha!!
i don’t know when i will be in toronto but i need to go soon! i am writing with kevin drew from the broken social scene and lucas silviera from the cliks and so i need to be there!!
actually it wasn’t planned for my mother to buy me that hambok. it was totally her idea. they are always trying to guilt me into having children, but i don’t think it is gonna happen!
omg you are doing a show in a sex club? that is so cool!!!
Please come up with a song about Sarah Palin, Margaret, because this is the only one we have right now to listen to:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR9V_aOCga0
Yours would be so much better! *wink*
“that is why the majority of successful female comics are lesbians, because we don’t care what men think!”
It’s lucky for us men that there are female comics like you, Margaret. I learn stuff about what it’s like the other side of the gender gap, stuff I would never have thought of on my own.
how do you do a show in a sex club? that seems like it would be fun but hard. no pun intended this time!
Calling out Michelle Malkin as a racist — classic.
http://www.margaretcho.com/blo…..alkin.html
If an Indian lad comes up to you and starts repeating your acts word for word, you’ll know he’s my nephew … *g*
my nicknames for her are Alaska’s Frost Lady and Gov GIF..and Margaret if I recall you made mention of her frozen tundra–so to speak. You singing about Palin would a dream come true for so many
Gove GILF
thank you. female comics are always my favorites. people like paula poundstone and wanda sykes are totally my idols. i don’t get it when people say women aren’t funny. that is so strange to me. how can half the world be incapable of something so natural?
So Cho, do you read any blogs?
oh michelle malkin. i feel sorry for her. it’s that weird thing that happens when people of color turn against their own in order to achieve some kind of notoriety that they might not get otherwise because of their race. it’s very sad.
Women are much more funny. Have you ever seen Vicki Shaw?
i love therumpus.net
then i am all over the place. perez, pink is the new blog, huffingtonpost, needled.com
and i am addicted to facebook
i haven’t. i should check her out!
FWIW, that is a part of the Mother contract. My mother tried it on me (since I’m male it was slightly different but still…)
With her it was “When are you going to get married and give me grandkids? You’re my last hope for grandkids.”
And don’t have kids if you don’t want them. I just told Mom I was too selfish.
haha!!! i love gov gilf
They’ve got to be kidding … from the days of Lucille Ball and Phyllis Diller, women have been
equally funny as men.
This new crop of which you are one, is an amazing collection of talent.
omg such a fan, you are the best margaret, thanks for joining us tonight.
does your family ever ask you to edit your mentions of them in your shows?
thanks again!
i love children, but i think the world has enough. i think eventually i would like to adopt, especially older kids, not a baby, because i hate crying and diapers and older kids can just hang out with you.
Lesbian comic. Vicki Shaw They are beginning to come out, come out. Suzanne Wesntenhoerfor led the way.
Gives me hope that someday I can quit my day job.
I prefer them housebroken myself
thanks so much! there’s so many great women out there right now, like kathy griffin and sarah silverman and jessica halem! yay – it’s a renaissance!
my parents haven’t ever asked me to edit anything which is kind of a miracle and also makes me think they are just in denial!
Older kids ar eharer to place and have been in the system a while so they can be more challendgin, but they are also chattable and hang outable
Please find the time to do a gig for your fans, the next time you’re in Toronto.
housebroken is so much better!
i will for sure do a gig in toronto very soon!!!
Hey Margaret! Its Wendy! The chick you met in Cincinatti, I finally got your tattoo on my arm!!!! When are you comming back to Indiana?
This is such a treat, thank you for being here!
i am sure the system has to be tough on kids, but there’s got to be ways to reverse the damage. i like the idea of adopting older kids because they are the ones who need families the most! i also don’t have that baby lust that a lot of people have. i don’t want to carry anything heavier than a clutch.
Excellent ! We’ll be watching for it.
BTW, the interior decor on the Cho Show was incredible… ou have a new TV show in the pipeline, Drop Dead Diva? Do tell re that!
hi there!! that is cool!!!! i will come back to indiana soon i hope. i have to go to atlanta now to work on a new show, but i will come out there soon!!
“i don’t want to carry anything heavier than a clutch.”
LMAO!
ah ha! another Big Love addict!
Though I missed last nite so no spoilers!
ROFL
Perhaps Bette Midler could give some advice on that.
ciao margaret,
you are the funniest person out there and i came all the way from europe to see you.I’m coming to engelwood, nj show and i cant freakin’ wait. You better take a sec for a hot pic with me after the show! Deal? Also…WHY are you not having any shows in europe? I know tons of people that are just dying to see your hot ass there!!!!!
europe represent
thank you! that’s my house!!
i am doing a new tv show for lifetime called “Drop Dead Diva” and it’s incredible. it is the funnest project. i really love it. it is a comedy about a thin, young beautiful blonde model who dies, and gets her soul transferred into the body of a brilliant lawyer who is much larger, and so it is all about how she has to adjust to her new life and body. i play the lawyer’s gal friday. very feminist, very body positive, a really beautiful show. i just love it. it totally makes me cry.
ooooh it was the best one yet!!
yes she did that all in the 70s!
i want to go to europe for sure! i think now that i am doing more music it might help with the language barrier. i spent last winter in berlin and fell in love with it. so i gotta go… see you in nj!!!
Awesome! I can’t wait to see you again! I miss you! Check it out heres the picture of the tat! I sent it to John, but I’m not sure if it got to you! I hope you like it!
http://i403.photobucket.com/al…..garet2.jpg
Exsqueeze me Petro. Um, women-type comedy people are more funny. We have perspective and context that men do not. The bigger they come, the harder they fall. *g*
i love this tattoo!!!! i am so honored… you are the greatest wendy!!!
yes i always prefer female comics, but that may be because i am one!
I’m too schmart to argue with you, dear lady … *g*
Add Bea Arthur, Betty White and Gilda Radner and yes, women are funnier; smarter too !
AWWW Thank you dear! I’m honored to have it on my body! Your the absolute best! <3
Wow Wendy, intense tat.
Thanks poodeelah!
i posted that tattoo on my blog. i guess you didn’t see it. i was so impressed that you got it and i loved how it turned out!!! really amazing!!
So Margaret, how can someone like myself in New England help to get Prop 8 overturned in CA?
it is here
http://www.margaretcho.com/blo…..in-oh.html
So, does that mean your mom doesn’t really know what the AssMaster is?
AWWWW thank you!!!! Yeah when I went and got it my tattoo guy was like, hey I want her autograph! So i had to give him mine hahaha oh well, I’ll have your autograph with me the rest of my life!
Exsqueeze me Petro. Um, women-type comedy people are more funny. We have perspective and context that men do not. The bigger they come, the harder they fall. *g*
Indeedy! Women are forced by sexism to learn to function well in both the men’s perspective and the womens perspective. A big advantage in noticing things that are hilarious. We men pretty much stay in our own perspective, a disadvantage for all concerned.
Lately, a lot of people have told me I should be a stand -up comedian. All of them women. I say, um, a straight white 56 year old woman is not ready to go on the road and that’s what I’ve heard it takes.
Oh, well. I’ve also pretty much given up on being the bass player in an all girl rock band. Maybe next life.
i think it’s so great that people from other states are helping california out with this, really wonderful. just talking about the issue, telling friends, donating whatever we can to places like equality ca – these small things add up – they make a difference. and we need the help. it’s so scary – the whole prop 8 thing. i mean, why do these people care so much that they want to ruin the lives of people they don’t even know?!
i love that!!!
3 really nice Mormon gals showed up at my door yesterday.
I felt really bad telling them what I thought of their stand on Gay Marriage. Not.
hey you can do anything you want! i am a firm believer in that. you can be a comic in any way you want to! there’s no limits!! i decided i was going to be a stripper at 38 and then a rock star at 40, so i think we can just do it all!
yeah i don’t understand why this is so important for the mormons. why do they care so much about something that doesn’t affect them directly at all?
So Margaret, have you been able to get any new tats lately? I know you showed me that one on your left arm that you said you needed to get finished.
Yep, in my field of yoga/meditation, I can see how women have been repressed and yet are able to achieve so much. It’s sorrowful and heartening at the same time.
That’s why, given the choice, I will always take a female student over a male.
well we in MA are living proof that after nearly 5 years, marriage is not an issue when it comes to orientation. My wife and I are 4+ years married strong and the world has not ended.
The Courage Campaign’s video called “Fidelity” had me weeping. Putting all of those brave and beautiful faces of families and couples. The whole movement to overturn prop 8 makes me feel so proud to love and be compassionate, even if some may choose prejudice and hate.
no she knows what an assmaster is! she did work with gay men for the entire decade of the 70s, so she knows about that stuff!
Just wanted to stop by and say “hi” to Margaret.
I hope this doesn’t violate that restraining order you have out on me. I’m totally over 200 yards away.
i got that one on my arm finished, the victorian eye. i think i might be done for a bit. oh it hurts!!!
I was at the Bverely Hills Court Huuse video taping couples trying toget licences on Friday 13th
http://lafiga.firedoglake.com/2009/02/13/nofreedom-to-marry-in-beverly-hills-and-gloria-allred-exclusive/
very moving
i totally cried at that fidelity video too. it’s just beautiful to see our families, and to see how far we have come as a community. really amazing and lovely…
Thank you for that reminder. I AM the boss of me.
I am woman. Hear me laugh!
haha! that’s right!!!
Yeah the last one I got was yours…. Lol I’m running out of money!!! OMG yeah the spot that was in, that hurts like CRAZY!!! The one of you went up in that area and I was like, ummmm ok its starting to hurt a little hehe.
I have been studying various cultures and prejudices while trying to understand how something as easy as spreading love and joy can be corrupted into a dogma of hatred.
Too much to share on a blog … if you feel like hearing about it, I’ll happily spend a few hours with you when you come up here.
That is so sad
Hey demi … gravity is the only thing holding you down …
it’s strange how people are trying to turn our love into something wrong… i don’t get it
oh yeah. tattoos hurt. a lot. and it’s weird because we get them and we get them and then one day you just can’t get anymore. i might be there. but i think i have more than you. but you have a lot!
It was very touching in Bev Hills..but the good news is the forms still say Person 1 and Person2..the county registrar doesnt want to print up the old gender specific ones even iwh Prop 8 in place..there might be a reversal is the thiking
and it’s super expensive. but i get them for free because my guy is awesome
that is really good news that they haven’t printed up the gender specific ones.
It has been such a pleasure chatting with you Margaret. Kind of you to hang with us commoners. I have to go, but you have made my day, and I will do what I can to help overturn Prop 8.
Keep being who you are. We need you
love,pam~
It has to do with a lot of deep rooted cultural beliefs and only when these roots are cut will America be free to move more quickly to its full potential.
Our NeoCon Prime Minister wants to repeal our Gay Marriage Rights but he has an idea what he’s up against so he’s silent on the issue right now.
Hahahaha I’ll catch up with you someday…. MAYBE hahaha!
but prop 8 must be repealed. it is the most important cause to me right now. i was just in sacramento last monday at a big rally. wanda sykes was there and she was so inspiring.
thank you!
hopefully!!! thank you!!
Wow, what an honor to have you here Cho mama!
Pissed as hell I’m not in LA tomorrow to go to Largo (I’ve worked there in a past life). Break a leg and maybe you can have some Matzo Ball soup at Canters on me (I’ll buy a DVD to pay for it).
Seriously though, much respect to you since, as a white hetero male, I can only imagine the shit you’ve faced and yet you’re still going strong. Very brave.
Margaret, my daughter has a couple of nice tatts – scroll down for one she designed on her arm.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/2…..5709031335
BTW demi, people are always telling me that I should do stand- up but I enjoy teaching meditation too much. I treat Comedy as my hobby and also as therapy. When I make fun of myself, I stop taking myself so seriously.
yes we have to let go of these old ways of thinking, as a nation, in order to live up to our potential. that is so right!
Margaret — I want to come see you tomorrow night. Should I wear a red carnation?
You’ll have to give me some sort of contact info with the artist in cincinatti you were telling me about. I totally want to get tattooed by them!
oh thank you!!! and i love that matzo ball soup. although largo has moved. it’s on la cienega now! moving up in the world!
Hey Margaret!
I am sooooo pumped about your album. Who have you been working with and what has the songwriting process been like?
Can’t wait to see you at SXSW!!!
Much Love,
Anne xoxo
I’m glad to see this matter in the Courts in Ca.
Opposition has to continue growing until it is repealed.
Marriage equality/repealing Prop 8 is THE civil rights issue,–I loved marchng for ACT UP and stuff, butProp 8 is a slippery slope where the majority can vote away the rights of monority..as one girl said the marriage videos. and the natinal NAACP has joine din suporting the Prop 8 repeal:
ooh how cool!
Petro! You’re da bestest.
The irony is, hatred is most repressive and regressive to those who hate, but they are not conscious of this.
comedy is really great therapy!
I am a mirror …
my guy is from cincy, but he tattoos out of everlasting tattoo in sf. his name is mike davis, and he is the greatest
The best and also the highest form of communication, according to me.
you are right. we have to keep growing and keep building momentum
I have to take a Birthday Cake to a young man whose family is absent …
Great chatting with you, Margaret, let me know when you’re up in Toronto.
Thanks Lisa & Jane for making this possible !
Isn’t that what friends are for?
i have been working with lots of amazing people, like grant lee phillips, jill sobule, mark eitzel, patty griffin, susie suh, garrison starr, ben lee, amanda palmer… the list goes on and on. it’s tremendous. usually we just get together, i bring lyrics they bring music and we work it out… it’s so great
Yes, the momentum has to become a Tsunami, where it sweeps away the hatred like pebbles on the Beach.
Continued success in all your endeavors, Margaret.
Sweet! If I ever get out there, I’ll totally go check him out! He does AMAZING work! Lol I had to go give blood the other day, and when the chick stuck the needle in my arm she was like, OH WOW IS THAT MARGARET CHO hahaha and I was as a matter of a fact… Yes it is! Then I showed her the picture of you and me on my ipod, and she was like, wow you are so lucky! Haha!
it’s true. it is all about civil rights and whether one minority has a say in another minority’s rights!! it’s insane!
thank you! that is so awesome!
Hey Lisa D & Margaret! Got here so late but just wanted to share in the smoochiness & tell Margaret how much we adore the new show and miss it like a lovah!
and it is great that the naacp supports the repeal of prop 8
aw that’s lovely. thank you!
Hello, Margaret! Welcome to the Lake.
Margaret, I love how the current crop of female comedians are ready, willing and able to be just as weird as the guys. I’m looking forward to the day when we can have a female version of Ben Stiller or Ben Affleck or some other person who has a leading role in a movie and gets to be WEIRD! (And without having to be ‘pretty’ or worry about her looks.)
that is funny!! well, i love being on your arm!!
ZOMG!! Holly Ross! How are you!!
And while we’re on old homes week, Margaret –JJ BLair sends you his best (I have known him for ages) and said you wrote a really funny song about him and apologized for sorta dsappearing. And Ethlie Ann says hi too!
i know! wouldn’t that be so great! i mean, all those male comic actors are not held to the same rigid standards as comic actresses at all. all they have to be is funny! women have to be hot AND all these other things. it’s so unfair
Quikc reminder to our particpants–please DIGG this post using the button up top–thanks!
i wrote a great song about jj with the band von iva. it’s really great. i love him. and i love ethlie!! i haven’t seen here in a while!
Digging now …. you can too!
Hi sweet-pea, Lisa! Fab in SF – miss your sweet face! Margaret, Dan Harper is an olllddd pal of mine (use to date his roomie when I was in LA) and after chatting about your funny shit for so long, it’s so nice to see you utilized properly in a show. We all just wanna be utilized properly, no?
Dugg
I have known them both for loooong time and use dot stay at JJs when he went snowboarding…he is rad. They both sent me notes to tell me how awesome you are and to pass it along.. so there you go!
omg dan harper!! haha!! i went to high school with him. that’s a name i haven’t heard in forever!!
Exactly. Gilda Ratner was one of the first to break the Weird Barrier. Even the raunchy comediennes of the ’50s and ’60s never really did ‘weird’ — they were all about titillation, not ‘weird’.
that’s so nice. i love those guys!
right…. i loved gilda radner. i never got to meet her before she died, but i did get to meet laraine newman who was awesome. but i loved gilda’s weirdness! she was so super weird!!
Hi Lisa my love – miss your sweet face! All is fab in SF! Margaret, I’m an old pal of Dan Harper’s (used to date his roomie in LA) and after chatting about all of your hilarious shit for years, it’s so nice to see you properly utilized on a show. We all just want to be properly utilized, no?
and yes it is very good to be properly utilized
