About Firedoglake
Evening, ES.
Good evening, DWR
Eureka! pups!
Hey Eureka!
How’s the wing?
And the Byrne video – as expected – not like anything I have seen before. Now on to the other one…
Hi Sunny.. how is everyone this fine evening?
Hi, folks!
What’s on my mind is my brother Chuck’s wife, Sherry, from whom a malignant tumor was removed today. She co-officiated at my recent marriage, and was one of the few members of my family to make it to Honolulu for our marriage. She is a dear person, and a dedicated minister. There’s not a mean bone in her body, and her congregation is lucky to have her.
Any prayers appreciated.
Bob in HI
Howdy Pups! Been a long time since I was this early in a late night thread.
Hey newtonusr… I read at the link in the post… Byrne’s voice is the voice of an old oak tree in that song. Could be an interesting documentary.
Wing’s still clipped, thanks for asking..)
Healing thoughts, amigo and familia.
Had a 3 hr breakfast with Waccamaw yesterday – good time!
I can get behind that. I still laugh about the big coat.
best wishes bob
Hiya Pups, and Bob in HI I’m thinking of you and yours.
Hey Pups I have Opened Digg so you can help support the LAKE!
No matter when you make a showing, you’re right on time at the lake.
Nahant, I had a dream about decorating with solar panels last night. Don’t remember everything, but at one point I had stop and reconfigure because my design wasn’t facing all south. *s*
Lake time. You guys making s’mores around the campfire tonight?
rather… all the panels were not facing due south.
Here We Go Magic – busy and fun.
Just a hot cup of constant comment for me.
*blinks twice*
Hungry again…
Warm thoughts, healing energy headed your way.
Soros … the honest billionaire
Soros sees no bottom for world financial “collapse”
Late night last night talking about getting CA Senator Mark Leno on FDL latest fron Suin:
Hello Al and Carole,
Carole, I can forward this to our editors if you like and they can look at the possibility further – just let me know if your office is interested in pursuing it further.
I should note that our Book Salon is normally booked for several months in advance so that may not be an option.
I do know that health care issues are a priority for our team.
Cheers,
Siun
So Leno’s staff is on it. Good.
Read your comments at EW’s earlier today, bb. You are doing yeoman’s work my friend. Looked like an excellent diary in the making as well.
Pretty dismal, isn’t it. Those of us who didn’t over-buy, who paid our bills, who don’t owe but tried to save… well, it’s as dismal for us as for anyone. But! After two recent weeks in Montana with one grandbaby and grooving on really big sky and then back home in paradise on the Central Coast with two other grandbabies, I am trying not to go bonkers about growing old amidst economic collapse. Well, ES, that’s what I’m thinking tonight.
You and waccamaw have any luck locating Tommy Yumm?
That Clinton guy sure did us in, with his Rooseveltian econ…
If only Bob Dole had been there to save us.
I though things had been awfully quiet as of late from your corner. Only the love of a grandparent would leave warm California for Montana in Feb..)
Agreed… on my mind too… one of the worst parts of my injury is I won’t be gardening this year. Should be planting bamboo this week.
**shudder**
I just put a magic rub on my arthritic thumb so that I can do a bit of gardening tomorrow. I can’t imagine not gardening!
With that I will bid you goodnight.
I’ll be praying for Sherry.
Was her plan for later in the trip I think.
Montana was divine….I’ve been there in Jan/Feb several times, but the absence of snow was really kind of worrisome…. especially combined with the 80 degree temps in the Nard in January……. what will summer be like this year?? Farmers are considering not planting strawberries due to lack of water. But we’ve had rain this week and are expecting more in the coming week. I try to stay upbeat, but, wow, how times have changed……and so fast.
Happy digging.
Hey ES think about large pots… 30 gal or more, you can grow many things in pots that are large enough.
I have been using them for years and get great veggies from them. I plan on adding even more of them this year. The good thing is you can move them as needs require!
Who knows? The climate alone.. in N.W. Arkansas – MO border in less than the last twelve months we’ve had a near 100 year flood… seen the eye of a hurricane above my house and lost power with horrific damage… followed by several very dry months… an extremely cold December… and the most destructive ice storm I’ve ever seen just this month.
Here, anyone here?
What do you use bamboo for?
Has anyone seen Chris? Did she make it over from the last thread?
Search party?
Sounds great if I’m up to it before it’s to late in the season. Is a 30 gal high enough that you don’t have to worry about ground critters getting into your veggies?
Hey my friend, I’m still here!
Hey!
I was going to do Stones and Jeff Beck tonight at the homestead, but ES’s Here We Go Magic has me tied down a bit.
I want to plant it across portions of my yard for decoration.. a wall of sorts. Bamboo makes a fantastic privacy fence… Nothing will see or climb through it. Most of all I love the way it looks… year round zen.
A few years ago I (and a couple of good friends) met the guy who wrote The Book of Bamboo… been inspired since that day.
That groove is infectious, isn’t it?
That really depends on the critter. Gofers WILL chew through the plastic ones if on dirt.. but if you went with clay pots no problem, they do weigh more and with your broken wing that might be an issue. But on the other hand if you have a cement patio (like I do) the plastic ones works great! Best of luck with your garden ES.
It is lovely. Had some against a fence once – perfect for privacy. When you’ve got it, that’s it forever.
Always wondered about edible shoots, but never investigated.
I hate it when the older axeman lose their shit…
one of the comments:
In Japan.
I’m here, hi Chris!
Can you now?
And all you got to show for it is a busted wing?
look behind you…
Chamomile tea has done its job. Night all.
Nite Sunny

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts.
Anyone watch Bill Moyers tonight? Nice segment with Parker Palmer on “Camp Obama” and the modern American psyche. Recommended! Made me think of the community here at the Lake…
Bob in HI
Dude even a major dude such as yourself can groe sprouts in a bowl. Put a variety of legume seeds in a wide flat bowl with some water and paper towel to keep them moist in three days you will have delicious nutriscious sprouts for soups and salads. Put in a hot pot of soup after the heat is off or in an omellete. Dynamite enzymes: experimant with beans lentils sunflower seeds. You will be gardenong with that wing before you can believe it.
Put in a dark place like cabinet, if it is cold could take a bit longer to germinate. Or buy at farmer’s market or health food store.
Haven’t watched it yet… never miss a show.
Camp Obama? Did he change the name of camp david already? /s
Such a good idea.. love sprouts, don’t know why it’s not a winter habit already.
Your body is using your arm injury to heal other things so you will be stronger all around as the immube system is very active now. No alcohol it confuses the immune lock and keu system. Bill M
Good points… couldn’t imagine drinking in this condition. Well, not unless someone put one fine glass of wine in front of me. /s
