I’m shocked that anyone could think that the cartoon had any racist undertones.
Just like McCain’s “Celebrity” ad, its conception was as pure as driven snow.
Which is white…

I agree. The drug wars in Mexico are getting to be truly frightening.

Not a fan of Holder. I just don’t think he’s the best and the brightest. His appearance at Congress was very disappointing.

UBS, the largest bank in Switzerland, agreed on Wednesday to divulge the names of well-heeled Americans whom the authorities suspect of using offshore accounts at the bank to evade taxes. The bank admitted conspiring to defraud the Internal Revenue Service and agreed to pay $780 million to settle a sweeping federal investigation into its activities.

It is unclear how many of its clients’ names UBS will divulge. Federal prosecutors have been examining about 19,000 accounts at the bank, but UBS ultimately may disclose the identities of only a few hundred customers.

I hope they nail ‘em all. Glad to know there’s more to the deal than just a fine for UBS

.
lol

Marcel Rohner, the group chief executive of UBS, said in a statement that “it is apparent that as an organization we made mistakes and that our control systems were inadequate.”

I hope that they make the 19,000 names public, label them as unamerican and break it off in them.

Since the cause of all these failures is lack of confidence in the Bamster, he should immediately step down and resign and allow the GOP to regain control. The country has spiralled out of control under just a month of misrule. Four years is impossible and too much.

Mornin’ all,

sadly JayT, don’t hold your breath – Gramm ran the CDO/Derivatives ops and will probably not come up

I know it will be some time down the road, but as always am curious as to the backstory – how in the world does a major bank get investigated by Bush DOJ for evading taxes, it’s what they do after all – just ask our friends in the Caymans :D

Gramm ran the CDO/Derivatives ops

That doesn’t mean he hasn’t been squirreling money away in Swiss Banks. I would imagine there are gonna be some jaw dropping moments when UBS starts releasing names.

The UBS story is indeed interesting. I’d like to know how and when the case started and who started it. I’d also like to know who pressed to have the names of people outed by the bank.
