Apparently his brand is not Pampers:
After quoting comments from President Obama suggesting that he’d like his judicial nominees to be able to empathize with the downtrodden, Vitter declared that demanding empathy in a judge was something you’d expect in a "dictatorship."
Apparently Vitter thought "1984" ended, like much of Vitter’s life, with a "happy ending".
Yes, all of history’s dictatorships and all their George Winston marching songs, the interrogations where they almost burn your skin with lit clove cigarettes, the attempts to "help out" Poland (they never forgot them). Everybody knows Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Saddam, Pinochet, Amin, both Papa AND Baby Doc DuValier — all people persons — all caring nurturers — all touchy-feely — never trod upon anyone.
They were not cold, calculating, uncaring bastards like say Abe Lincoln and Jesus, what with their, "judge not, that we be not judged"?
What kind of a empathetic a-hole would say that?

Depends ….
Vitter can go right into the dumpheaps of the worst of American senators.
.
Here’s his contact info. Plus links to background info on his State: #2 in high Infant Mortality, 49th in low life expectancy, 44th in education, 6th poorest, but 13th in getting back more dollars in Federal spending than they pay in taxes.
And that was BEFORE the hurricane.
.
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Attaturk and the Firepup freedom Fighters:
We have a fully developed fascist insurgency goin on in this country with a reserve army of hundreds of thousands bein’ incubated in the prisons accross the country. Witness James Adkisson who killed two in a Unitarian church service and after he was sentenced to life imprisonment he released his manifesto that was supposed to be a suicide note callin’ his brothers to arms against the “liberals” and Marxists.
There is no civil solution to this threat because the police forces of most largfe cities (and small towns too) are nuthin but non-convicted militia criminals…we’re gunna be in the streets against these bastards while their masters call the shots from the halls of Congress.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, WE MADE THIS MESS NOW WE HAFTA CLEAN IT UP OR OUR KIDS WON’T HAVE A FUTURE!!
Good old “Diaper Dave” Vitter.
A perfect standard bearer for his party.
WTF moment today. Big-ass jeep
with an oval bumper sticker:
Classic W with waving flag -
underneath, PALIN.
you betcha, fulla crap.
Remember, Repubs are Taliban insurgents. At least according to them.

Ya know, Vitter has an up-and-coming insurgent challenger of his own:

The pornstar is shockingly in a close second place in recent polling against Vitter and some other dude. Although, I hear she usually does well in pole-ing. Perhaps some organized blogosphere support could tip this race in her favor? We at least have to make sure she gets to
debasedebate Diaper Dave.you forgot the most important one;
that was the founder of this nation, george washington
Good morning, pups. It’s [sigh] Bobo and Krugman today. Bobo has created an appalling mash-up of “economics,” sociology and fiction that he’s calling “The Worst-Case Scenario.” He gurgles that the policy makers may know how to pull economic levers, but what happens when they don’t know how to use those levers to affect social psychology? He peers into the future… This thing was ghastly enough that I couldn’t drag myself all the way through it. Proceed at your own risk. Mr. Krugman, in “Failure to Rise,” says it’s early days yet, but we’re falling behind the curve. America just isn’t rising to the challenge of the greatest economic crisis in 70 years.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with warm Vermont maple syrup today. It’s Friday, which is one reason to be happy, but I’m also delighted that we’re having a retirement to-do for someone at the office today. This person combines all that’s worst in stupidity, rigidity and religious mania. She won’t be missed in my office. Have a great day.
Here’s my theory. Rove has so many photos of Vitter that he’s their go-to guy to spew any nonsense they want out there. Other repubs may balk at doing/saying some of this stuff but they own Vitter so, no matter how ridiculous, if they want something introduced into the dialogue, they appoint Vitter.
Anyone want to bet that JoeScar doesn’t mention that his tirade against the ‘Pelosi mouse’ was all b.s.?
Vitter’s words and actions don’t surprise me at all. His older brother was my husband’s department chairman.
HuffPo has a link to the final stimulus bill. I heard it’s around 800 pages. So here’s my question for the techies out there: Is that too much to download for my laptop? Am I saving them on my hard drive or just viewing them? Is there a difference? The son isn’t home for me to consult so I haven’t gone to the link yet.
Hysterical post, Attaturk! I sensed some sarcasm. Was that intentional? LOL
The right wingers are rewriting definitions to make themselves feel better. Rush Limbaugh is one and he said recently that a Banana Republic is when the government allows transparency and access to official documents! His uneducated listeners believe his new definition of course!
Here’s the link.

Btw, I read Pelosi’s summary. No mention of salary caps, which brings to mind this diary by Cenk entitled ‘Who Keeps Screwing Us Over’. He wants the names of those who fought against the caps. Me, too.

The patriotism of the Republican party centers around its loyalty to the old confederacy with its rigid caste system and fanatical hatred and fear of any sort of progress.
I’ll say it again: Remove all federal bases from the south, every one of them. Close Camp Lejeune, Ft. Benning, Pensacola, Ft. Hood, Ft. Sill, every goddamn one of them and more. Take the federal money out of the places that want to destroy our union and let them support themselves on whatever it is they produce. We can get rice and unsubsidized sugar from other places much cheaper. Soybeans can be brought in (like everything else) from South America.
Obama should learn the lessons of the Civil War and Reconstruction. Allowing the traitors to return to the union and even to the congress only showed them that by being obstinate and arrogant they could get what they wanted because northern finance wanted the markets. Screw them.
I can’t believe the R’s are against stem cell research. As everyone knows that will lead to human cloning. Then we could prduce Scalia after Scalia and save our democracy from unelected liberal judges legisalting from the bench and usurping the power of the states and the Cingress, based only upon their personal feelings of what is good policy. No place in a democracy for that.
The Republicans should be rewarded for their stimulus obstructionism by having the Nuclear Option invoked on judicial filibusters.
I figured Cheney was pro cloning…
Snark? Sarcasm? Maybe.
I call it “spot on” plain and simple!
Or better, the truth.
(He had me LOL too) :)
Solai, if you’re on dialup, don’t download. The first of the 4 pieces on HuffPo is 13.4 MB and on my DSL/Wifi connnection it’t taking a few minutes but it’s not overwhelming. And when you download a PDF it winds up stored somewhere on your laptop, so if you don’t want to keep it you’ll have to drag it to your trash/recycle bin.
Norke,
You pegged the cops the same as the criminals but with a badge and some even can’t help themselves from criminal behavior. A few rotten apples? Na… a few good ones I’d say.
FL deserves NO stimulus money. I just can’t understand why the rest of the country should finance the irresponsibility if the Florida legislature (and the Floridans who continually elect these statesmen) which wuill not raise revenues sufficient to provide basic services for a large state. we were going to get beat out of some education $$$ but Mel Martinez went to work (with the Dems) to get it restored. Then he voted against the stimulus.
Second portion is only 5.9MB and downloaded quickly. On my Mac, Adobe Reader opens it automatically when it finishes downloading. There are two more parts.
Thanks. I’m not dial-up so I’ll give it a try, but sounds like I shouldn’t view it at work. I do some surfing during lunch.
OT
Mrs Eckert fought for more land to be included in the Ground Zero memorial and was one of the wives Ann Coulter accused of benefiting from her husbands death. I can’t wait for Coulter’s take on this.
Ooops, forgot the link to CNN.com
I think to do it justice you will want to either read it at home when you have time to dig into it, or print it if you can (double sided, if possible). I personally can’t read anything that huge on the screen and really get into it.
If Abe Lincoln was alive today, he would spit on today’s republicans! Oh yes he would.
Will activists be passing out diapers and Vitter campaign events?
I got this e-mail in May 2007 from a right winger. They have been worried about this garbage for a yr and a half at least. Why is the author’s of this garbage never found?
Subject: HOW LONG DOES THE USA HAVE?
And earlier this week I heard some one on tv say (paraphrasing) Conservatives listen to the radio when in the car on their way to work while Dems listen to the radio on a couch in their basements.
That should read libs not Dems
