Metallica and The San Francisco Symphony Orchestra – Nothing Else Matters.
What’s on your mind tonight?
Zed
been a while since ya got one of those wigwam
Hey Suz!
Never a Metallica fan, but this is kinda cool.
Evening Suzanne and Pups!
Jonathan Turley at his best ever: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/#29128721
Hey wigwam, Suz
I like that guy’s voice. Like the whole thing, calming.
zackly what I was thinken.
I type too slow. Hi newton, conniptionfit, everyone.
Day-am! ya gotta be pretty secure in yer musicianship to play with the SFO!
just did a tour of the rethug websites. looks like they’re trying to lie to their base, saying that the stimulus will lead to everything from federal control of healthcare to mandatory abortions to gay marriage.
redstate.nostimulus.com is kinds funny.
mommy, why do republicans hate America?
I agree. I halfway expected ol’ Jon to break down in tears at what they’re doin’ to his country.
how’s everyone doing tonight?
Fuck reconciliation. BRING ‘EM TO JUSTICE!!!
Plus cooties!
We’re mad as hell an’ we ain’t gonna take it anymore, Suz! An’ how’re y’all this fine evening?
r’s only talk the talk but don’t walk the walk about doing unto others as you would do unto yourself
likewise
egregious did a piece on it.
Turley is too much truth for most.
words from 1976 – yet it is still applicable
Right the FUCK on!
Every man is equal under the law.
Motherfuckers.
Just fer shits and grins, SMOOCHES Suz,
this is THE Metallica tune of all time,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WElvEZj0Ltw
i’m a human being – my life has value, dammit… i’m as mad as hell and i’m not gonna take this anymore
Commissions don’t cut it. Either we’re Americans or we’re the “Good Germans.” It can’t be both ways.
Here’s a thought that has been creeping in around the edges of my brain today… do you suppose that it just might be that Obama is shoving an obviously unprepared and clueless Geithner into the Public and in front of the Senate in hopes that we will shoot Geithner for him? Metaphorically of course.
Gare St.Lazare.
shhh, i’m breaking em into metallica easy dood
that’s such a kick ass song busted
Drive by DIGG
Evening and now good night!
thanks for opening the digg nahant – hi/bye
dugg
i think i’m gonna try this recipe
Cool! And thanks, I’ve never actually seen that movie. It’s a great clip.
Lol!
I tortured my aunt and uncle and a couple of very young female cousins with that, through head phones, from Portland Oregon, all the way through the hills of South Dakota and back, back in the day. They still hate that shit and I still love it.
Yikes, that is going to be one seriously green soup.
mmmmmmmmm
my punishment song when i was a teen was innagoddadevida – with the drum solo cranked just below turn that shit down level.
Thanks.
from the same concert as up top
Absolutely! Did you catch that mealy-mouthed interview that Leahy gave on Rachel? I can’t figure out if he’s stupid, or he just thinks we are. There is no way that any kind of “truth” commission will be adequate. And Turley is absolutely right that Truth commissions are for “emerging” democracies. We’ve been at this for awhile, we’re supposed to have a grown-up system of laws and justice.
i think it is both. i want investigations that tell the truth, no matter who ends up indicted as a result.
Know it well, all seventeen plus minutes.
I know a lot of people freak out just mentionimg Metallica but if one can get over the kne jerk reaction of “Oh MY God, It’s Devil Music!”,
you might just find there is some intellectual shit going on with the lyrics and I will dare you to find anyone to compare with down right skill playing an instrument that fast with the passion that comes across.
Am I a fan?
Does the Pope shit in the woods?
Does a frog have a water tight asshole?
You bet yer ass I’m a fan.
I got introduced to Metallica in San Jose in 1984, when they were still a local bamd, by an Undertakers kid.
a “grown up system” that suspends people by the wrists for a week Inquisition style prior to vivesecting them for the crime of reading a satire website about making nukes. yep. real grown up.
Dugg
good evening folks
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXErSdLTQmY
Inspired from a very old movie about WW2, I actually remember seeing that movie once.
Gnite and Thank You Suze, Yer a doll.
I have a ton of shit to do in the next few days.
i doubt slicing a man’s genitals with a scalpel will be legally adjudicated
I wish all of the D appointees on the Supreme Court to the best of health. But when a vacancy does occur, I would love to see Prof. Turley appointed to the Court. Never happen, though.
What is vegetable extract?
one should point out that the south African truth and reconciliation commissions were not free immunity scams. Those seeking immunity were required to convince a court that they merited the right to confess wrongdoing in exhange for clemency, and the honesty testimony could be challenged by victims’ counsel before the commission. Successful challenges could lead to a revocation of immunity.
Mine was “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road.”
No, hon. That’s the perversion of the grown-up system that we’re supposed to have. It’s not even about punishment, it’s about prevention of further atrocities. As Wigwam said
“Pour encourager les autres!”
Vegetable bouillion?
Hey, mine too!
g’thud busted
Isn’t it that awful Vegemite stuff?
Yeah, well Botha was convicted. Then a white court overturned it.
I thought for a moment that I was a bit crazy, but no, it’s him. He seemed like a zombie, mouthing words that sort of made sense but didn’t really. At best we were witnessing the tragic effects of a well-intentioned but senile old duffer. He seemed totally clueless.
That nasty stuff ya find under the lawn mower after a rainy day.
I’ve seen him (temporarily) look sharpish in a committee hearing, but he certainly does seem to be in decline.
i’m not sure – spices maybe? the google wasn’t much help
and that really creepy smirk…
Naw, I thought that wuz hummus!
looks like maybe there are different flavors?
More likely, Cass Susstein.
Ack!
We knew how to press the buttons, by crackey!
fork…. bad link.. i think it is a vegetable bullion
You noticed that smirk too. The result of a stroke? Bad plastic surgery? A guilty conscience?
Even the chimp has a less wierd smirk than that.
Recipe calls for 2 tsp. Whatever it is must be mighty concentrated.
my mom and dad liked the beatles – i had to play hardball when pissed. anything that sounded hippie or psychedelic was usually enough to get my dad threatening to make me listen to buck owens
I LOVED seeing that look on my Dad’s face! Like he was pretending really, really hared that I innocently didn’t understand what “it” was.
I have daydreams about a tape of the poor many screaming surfaces, along with a memo from Cheney saying that the “president authorizes the prisoner’s mutilation”… that’s probably what its going to take for the Obama administration to get serious about prosecuting these war criminals.
Naw, I noticed the smirk right after he”corrected” Rachel’s assumption that his commission would mean there would be no prosecutions- by saying that of course there would be a prosecution for perjury if one were caught lying, regardless of immunity. The smirk was him thinking he’d pulled a fast one on Rachel.
Well, yeah. They both already admitted authorizing torture on F’in National Teevee! What more do they need to open an investigation, a signed affidavit??
gonna take a buncha pissed off ‘murkicans
how long was it from the time watergate broke to the first hearings? wasn’t that something like 18 months???
watergate timeline
not quite a year
Ok you guys are scarin’ me. Usually I can’t begin to keep up with y’all, but tonight is like it’s all conniptionfit, all the time. So, G’night dear ones, sleep well, and a better tomorrow for you all.
Somewhere over the rainbow…..
from may 73 until august 74 before nixon resigned a week after the HJC passes the first of three articles of impeachment, charging obstruction of justice
Is this an Australian site? Perhaps they are trying to avoid a brand name.
I’m thinking Fern may be right – Vegemite.
music for ya to sleep by.. g’nite conniptionfit
crikey – i think i’ll use vegetable bullion
good plan;)
Not unlike the equally dreadful Marmite – which the Brits eat and we get in Canada as well.
shrudder – i refuse to eat anything that sounds like it came from outer space and landed in marmalade
This is the best thing I heard of all day- Ford is bringing back the Taurus SHO!
I tried it once – the only thing I can say is that it tastes intensely … brown.
I’ll give you that one. The original 4-banger variety was a mess.
ewwww, i’m presuming that is not a chocolate brown
Is this a good thing? Everyone I ever knew who had driven a Taurus loathed it.
Four-banger? SHO’s only had a V6 or a V8. This one has an EcoBoost V6 tuned to make 365 HP… and with an ECU tune, it could easily make 400 + HP…
The new Taurus is nothing like the ones of old. It’s better. At least, that’s what I heard.
Possibly my bad. May have confused it with the SVO. I had an employer who had an original model, and the turbo lag was immense. But it was a 4-banger. Would have been about ‘92 or ‘93.
crap – ahnold is planning on laying off at least 20,000 state workers
Had a friend who inherited one – formerly a police car. Perhaps it had special suspension. Riding shot-gun was torture.
Ford made a series of hot-rodded version of their standard platforms by a group called the Special Vehicle Team (SVT). I recall an SVT Contour, an SVT Focus, an SVT Mustang, and SVT F150, etc. There had to have been an SVT Taurus in there somewhere. I test drove the SVT Contour, which one of my BMW-driving friends called an M2.5. It was quite impressive. I also drove the SVT Mustang, which was still a Mustang. Sigh.
In general, the SVTs were considered very fast and well handling, given the chassis.
Hiya, pups!
Long day.
Minus 4 F here at our little lake. Calm, light overcast, HUGE moon…
Hey ET. Nice work getting us a chance to chat with Shannyn.
That’s really, really bad.
I’m fading fast. G’nite, all.
37 here – about the same as it was this afternoon. never did hit 40. clouds so no moon :(
the february full moon (last nite) is called the snow moon.
nite wigwam. me too
I haven’t talked with her since she came in to help when I had to go back to work, but Shannyn is awesome.
g’nite wigwam
g’nite newton
I’m hoping this is the tail end of our very last cold snap.
Hey, this just in!
Rachel Maddow is a Ph.D.! Or at least, in tonight’s show, she let slip something about the “dissertation” she wrote. That usually means a Ph.D., doesn’t it?
No wonder she’s so smart!
Bob in HI
fingers and toes crossed for ya et
i’m still a snow newbie so i’m still enjoying the sight of snow outside my window on the cape.
i caught that too – about how prisoners are the only americans to have universal health care?
It sounds good to me. Of course, I like Spam so there you go.
time me me to get some cuddle time in with token and bailey. amazing how even the most standoffish cat gets all friendly when its in the 30’s outside.
g’nite pups and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
.
Afghans tire of Gaz War. So, why are we still there, hunh?
.
Hey all — Quick drive-by before beddybye. Any word from CT an’ the Missus? I thought they were gonna go to Honolulu for a consult and possible procedure for her heart condition today.
Interesting that you mentioned the Snow Moon… We ahd snow on the hills above Cambria just South of Big Sur a Sunday night. Pretty unusual here.
Yeah, I think that was it. Good catch!
Bob in HI
BTW, I like James Galbraith on Tuesday’s Democracy Now:
Bob in HI
Hi, Bob. Yeah, she’s a DOCTOR. She has a bit on her radio show called “Ask Dr. Maddow”, where listeners call in with questions they are too lazy to google :D (disclaimer says, Dr. Maddow is not a medical (or real?) Doctor, but she does have a ph D)
AnySuz still up? I can’t sleep. Nice recipe, that one.
Check out this one I used to make and serve when I was in the biz:
Stracciatella alla Romano-6 Servings
You can find the recipe here (blogwhoring):
