From the Department of "you just can’t make this sh*t up":
Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said House Republicans … will pitch a "positive, loyal opposition" to the proposal. The group, he added, should also "understand insurgency" in implementing efforts to offer alternatives.
"Insurgency, we understand perhaps a little bit more because of the Taliban," Sessions said during a meeting yesterday with Hotline editors. "And that is that they went about systematically understanding how to disrupt and change a person’s entire processes. And these Taliban — I’m not trying to say the Republican Party is the Taliban. No, that’s not what we’re saying.
So let me get this straight? After 8 years of the Bushdog led Great War on Terrah, what has the GOP learned? To EMULATE the Taliban? Gah!
Don’t take my word for it. Click the link. Read the article. [bangs head on table]

these people need to be locked up.
If I take the white pill, will this make any sort of fracking sense?
I believe that’s exactly what you’re saying sir.
Birds of a feather…
Let’s see:
Religious Persecution, check

Yes, they are like the taliban. Wow, the republicans got one right.
If he won’t say it, I will. The Republican Party is the American Taliban. See how easy (and accurate) that is?
Retalibanicans.
Retalibanicans.
We’ve been handed a gift, and we must take full advantage of it. Repubs respect and want to emulate the Taliban. He said it. Several times.
Hey kids, let’s spy on ‘em!
Cave dwellers, check.
Oh, and Repubs are “insurgents” as well. This totally mucks up all their fear-mongering, since fighting Taliban/AQ insurgents has basically been their entire platform for the last 8 years. ATTACCCKKKKK!!!!!
Can Michael Steele fire the Republicans in Congress and the Senate, too?
It’s not for nothing that the rightwing religious Bushies were called the “Texas Taliban”
Don’t forget their symmetry on LGBT rights!
Talibangelicals
That’s really not fair to compare them* to such close-minded, extremists. .
I heard this morning that in many parts of Afghanistan the Taliban is actually setting up and running public services, building schools, etc. So the to compare the Republicans to them is just absurd…
=====================================================
* by ‘them’ of course I’m referring to the actual Taliban.
Talipublicans.
My husband, the now Independent, former Republican, has said the same thing.
I think you might have to take the brown acid, but I’m not sure if even that would help it make sense…
Reptalibans.
Maybe we can alternate retalibanicans with Hooverites!
Malkin telling her peeps to call 4 senators. Collins, Snowe, Voinovich and “the ringleader, Specter.
The nice folks that bring you the gop are now claiming to be the taliban. Now they are claiming they are not saying that, although he did say that. Since they are the only people that have ever been allowed to work with the taliban, it does give you an insight to their thinking, character, and true motives.
How much bribery, drug trafficking security using US and coalition aircraft and ground transport has been accommodated for the tribal chieftans? How about Hamid and his brother?
They emulate the taliban. The gop believe in exactly the same thing now. They want a religious oligarchy to rule the US and thought they had it with uncurious george. They trade drugs, and vote to protect drug dealer’s contributions by continuing the “war on drugs”. These people are the base of the gop. They vote to bail out wall street because they know that they are getting paid directly by the companies they are bailing out. They wouldn’t have voted for that much spending if they didn’t get paid. The will now vote no on a stimulus bill that will help a few of the richer americans, but also some of the middle class, because the bribes are coming back to them in the way they are used to.
And from the looks of it, the democratic leadership isn’t going to make any changes. I guess the taliban are truly an ally of great value. More so than the people of our own country. Makes you proud to be an American, eh?
I think you’ll need to take the brown acid. It should all become clear to you then.
I read that piece in the wee hours of the morning – with my jaw hanging open. I notice he sort of tried to take it back a sentence or two later – but no, he got it just right.
epu’d downstairs after checking out cspan2 and hearing sen. huckleberry being stupid.
Banging head on table is becoming my daily exercise program.
Is it time to bring out the pitchforks? Oh, yeah, and torches (just practice for when we can’t afford electricity, after all)
That was in response to sdrDusty
Its been so long, I forgot how to comment.
The only thing Sessions knows about insurgency is his drawers trying to fight their way out of his ass.
Let’s take him at his word…the elements of an insurgency are policy, propaganda, recruitment and community outreach, resources and logistics, terrorism, and guerilla warfare. The Republicans have the first four down cold… A “terrorist attack”, in this context, would be something that pits Democrats against each other and erodes support for Obama. Look for a manufactured scandal..Guerilla warfare takes and holds territory, so that means redefining the issues to destroy Democrats rather than solve problems. Add in the hyper-religious element, and…ok, I’ll buy it. They are the American Taliban.
Yo, Dr. Dick!
LOL
The direction they’ve taken us, looks like they might get the ‘living in a cave’ part right.

Did You Hear The One About The Republican State Committeewoman?
Sessions was born in Waco, Texas, where he grew up. His father is William S. Sessions, the former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1978. Sessions then worked for Southwestern Bell for 16 years. He rose to the rank of district manager for marketing in Dallas, supervising 435 employees and managing a $16 million budget. He also worked at Bell Labs in New Jersey.
He is an Eagle Scout with four generations of Boy Scouts in his family, and recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America,[1][2] as well as a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.[3] As a Congressman, Sessions has sponsored legislation to raise money for the Boy Scouts.[4] At the 2007 National Convention, Sessions was presented with the Pi Kappa Alpha Distinguished Alumni Award.
Sessions and his wife Juanita have two sons, Bill (age 19) and Alex (age 14). Alex, was born with Down Syndrome.
Kinda confirms something I said in 2002…There is NO difference between the Fascist Republican Party and the Taliban Party.
Ugg for President

Well, look at the bright side: The fact that someone would say something like that means that they and their party won’t be taken seriously in the American political discourse for at least the next 40 years.
Um, right?
Just imagine what the media reaction would be if a Democrat said something like that…
He also formed the Malaysia Trade, Security and Economic Cooperation Caucus.
…a member of a Republican cybersecurity task force created by Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert.
Sessions failed to pass the “Preserving Innovation in Telecom Act of 2005″ (HR2726), which would have prohibited state and local governments from offering internet access services. However, questions have been raised about Sessions’s partiality toward the telecom industry: According to Sessions’ House financial disclosure forms from 2003, he has between $500,000 and $1 million in AT&T stock options, and his wife works for Cingular, which is jointly owned by AT&T.
Great minds think alike…! (See me @18)
Does this mean it’s now alright to have air strikes targeting Republicans? Might finally give the Dems a modest advantage in negotiations.
Works for me. You can start down here if you like, where we’re overrun with talibangelicals. If I become collateral damage you have my permission now before the fact.
Sessions is one of the 20 most corrupt Congress members. Sessions was in the thick of the Abramoff Indian Casino scam. Sessions went to Malasia with Abramoff and Scanlon. They funneled Malasian donations through one of Scanlon’s fake companies.
Well, then, the GOP picked the right fellow to recruit new GOPs and get them elected to Congress, didn’t they?
Anybody who thinks that they can name the 20 most corrupt Congressmembers has,to paraphrase Richard Prior “got more diggin’ to do.”
Sessions is at least doubly tainted. Abramoff and now the Taliban reference. Do you suppose the Taliban angle might find its was into a new GOP slogan?
The New Improved GOP – We’re peeking in your underwear drawer – like Taliban Insurgents.
From der Wiki:
In September 2006, the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) released its second annual report on the most corrupt members of Congress, titled “Beyond DeLay: The 20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress (and five to watch)”. Sessions was one of the 20. The organization said “His ethics issues stem from his ties to Jack Abramoff and his links to defense contracting company.”
they truly luv being bad little boys.
That was 2006 and records are made to be broken! Sessions has probably by now fallen behind faster rats.
We have the most serious economic crisis that any of us not alive during the Great Depression has ever seen. I am talking about real physical suffering for tens of millions of Americans and discomfort and uncertainty for hundreds of millions. Yet instead of dealing with this in a deadly serious way, our political leadership is acting like a bunch of contestants on some reality show where the stupidest person wins.
Sessions -> FBI -> Boy Scouts -> AT&T -> Southwestern Bell -> Bell Labs, New Jersey -> Republican Cybersecurity Task Force ->
Sessions failed to pass the “Preserving Innovation in Telecom Act of 2005″
Questions have been raised about Sessions’s partiality toward the telecom industry: he has between $500,000 and $1 million in AT&T stock options, and his wife works for Cingular (AT&T).
i’m certain someone’s pointed this out, but i haven’t had time to read all the comments,
but can we just imagine for a moment if anyone from our side of the tracks said this?
msm and the thugs would be yelling from the hilltops, we’d probably see airplane dropped flyers!
i hope Rachel gets ahold of this one!
omg,
New post->
I just sent this post to all my TX friends and family,… reasonable people, proud of TX and America. Hopefully they will be as discussed with this jerk as we are.
He’s gotta run in a year and a half.
This shows who dominates/controls the media. Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly would expound on it, then traditional “unbiased media” would run with it for two or three days. Then, Limbaugh, Hannity, O’Reilly, Beck, et al would hit it again.
It would be big news. That’s for sure.
Shock Doctrine, calling Naomi
“change and disrupt a person’s process”
Isn’t this kind of talk covered by the Patriot Act?
(If they’re talking about being like the Taliban, doesn’t that make them a self-proclaimed terrorist organization?)
I wonder if that was the same trip taken by Rep. John Doolittle, who spoent most of the time in an expensive hotel in the Langkawi Island resort, and got his daughter (who accompanied him) a tailored riding outfit with boots, jodhpurs, fancy jacket and blouse and that cute little helmet.
Doolittle himself got a free camel-hair suit from the Malaysians.
Boy Scouts are under investigation for selling off lands and forest leases contributed to them for environmental conservation…to the logging industry. These areas have been clearcut, much to the dismay of many Scout groups who have hiked through them.
The headline should have read “Reicht Wingers Unite Under the Banner of Terror!”
And this is why I call them the, “American Taliban”, because they are!
Now there’s a capital idea!
