My first boss Bruce B. Brugmann (B3) has a blog.
This seems like a pretty cool way to go out:
On her last blog on Dec. 29th, [Lani Silver] said she had spent the week planning her funeral. "It will be fun and I wish I could be there," she wrote. She asked that people wear bright colors and she lined up a program that was vintage Silver with a positioning statement that summed up her life, "May the Memory of the Righteous be a Blessing."
Her "army of friends and colleagues," as one speaker put it, turned out for the service on the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday.
And it’s not worth explaining, but if you know Bruce, this is fall-down funny:
PG&E’s interest is clear: to grab as many City Hall appointments as possible to protect and enhance the position of this corrupt and corrupting private utility. (See Guardian stories and editorials since l969.)
When I was living in Japan, the whole enron thing happened …and all the sudden, on Armed Forces TV, Bruce was being interviewed (I think it was the JL’s Newshour) and I thought, "man, half a world away I can’t get away from Bruce and the Hetch Hetchy." Totally awesome.
And there’s a lesson here: If you live long enough, B3 will be right about everything.
As Rox says, he’s the last great crazy muckraker and they should build a temple to him at the Newseum.

An army, indeed.
Heh heh, BBB. Oy.
OT — Thune amd simply giving away all, yes all of the stimulus money in the form of individual tax rebates, for approximately no discernible reason, fails 61/35 .
I think the amendment that buys everyone a pony instead is up next.
35 in favor?
WTF?
Well, guess who.
There is real hardball and big plans/plots behind the scenes tonight, methinks.
jane! bbb wasn’t right about everything – you started blogging way before he did.
So I guess the blog would be B4, huh?
Digg IT!
Jane;s blog was B4 !
dugg and thanks for opening it
B4 B3 you mean.
i’m a king b
Evening Suz! How ya doing?? Filling in for Jane this evening?
C# or you’ll Bb.
2B or not to 2B ?
Good evening everyone…… Elmore and I went out for Vietnamese food….. I could taste most of the food, the spices in the sauces and lots of ginger….. :)
Hi katymine!
If you have an appetite…
OT – Reid just got quorum waived for the Saturday session (amds & debate on the bill). And got UC on a bunch of other rules for the bill in case of cloture etc. mainly because nobody else is there and awake any more, I suspect. Final vote on the EcStim bill sounds like Tuesday now, but I can’t penetrate the parlimentary lingo.
Finally adjourned, ’til noon
Sorry, Hamlet is over in EW’s thread!
LOL
From B3:
how’s everyone doing tonight?
Oh good!
I’ve told people here in town about your good experiences using ginger.
Katy sounds great I just love good Vietnamese food. Sounds like you are feeling good today Katy, that’s great news!-
Checking out ,nite all!
That’s the same number who voted for the earlier amendment to replace the entire stimulus bill with one that only has tax cuts. It seems like the only conclusion is that all but five of the GOP senators would rather let the country go down the tubes while waiting for the Free Market Fairy to magically fix everything than consider that their ideology could possibly be incorrect.
Nite BillyB hear it is freaking cold back there. Spoke to my nephew living in Newton. He is ready for spring, said it got all the way to 17 today must have felt like a heat wave to you guys..
every vote against the stimulus plan is a vote against jobs. we should be calling every senator demanding they save jobs now and quick forking around.
Wow! I had no idea, and just found all kinds of interesting articles Googling his name and Enron. So has Bruce written about the role of big utilities in the push for transmission corridors everywhere right now, and using “renewables” as a justification for this?
When are you Liberals going to learn that tax cuts build bridges and schools and roads and cars?
/s
The only thing funnier than seeing Goopers act like populists is watching them deny that they are going for a defeat of Obama over the nation’s interests.
Every tax cut granted is money wasted as it gets no bang for the buck.
Expanding Medicare would promote economic recovery
(snip) Then imagine we have a system in which the 46 million uninsured Americans are covered by full Medicare, which by itself could be funded by spending an additional $44 billion. Add to this full Medicare for seniors who have limited Medicare programs, those on Medicaid, and those who have private insurance but don’t use it because of the high out-of-pocket costs or because they are denied needed care.
That’s the real key to economic growth through health care: people getting care when they need it. Providing care jump-starts the economy on a massive level.
The baby Jesus weeps a tear for every dollar taxed.
late late nite upstairs
I really want to see how this works.
Take money out of the magic box, -Poof!- a miracle occurs, and suddenly the magic box is full of money!
Seems to me a step or 3 is missing.
Tuesday. Four extra days, another 75,000 jobs or so at January’s rate.
Some of them were actually smart enough to claim that they needed time to read the final bill, not just rush it through. The sad thing is, if I believed they were doing it instead of having their staff go over it as usual, I’d agree that it was a good idea.
Ten bucks to the first journalist who asks one of them on Sunday or Monday how much of the bill they’ve read…
The weirdest thing is that I could be dying with nausea but hungry too…. this cycle did not kill my appetite but with the raw tongue there is a lot that I cannot taste. Milk just feels cold but no taste. Thankfully I don’t have that metallic taste which I had on the Interlukin….. Sure can taste the ginger …
Looking at the stimulus bill, there is 1% spending for each Dem and
1% tax cut for each Republican and 1 Independent (Lieberman).

So there should be 100 % voting for this bill?
PG&E, no joke, will cash utility bill payments made out to Pigs Greed & Extortion.
