bruce_banner.thumbnail.gifMy first boss Bruce B. Brugmann (B3) has a blog

This seems like a pretty cool way to go out:

On her last blog on Dec. 29th, [Lani Silver] said she had spent the week planning her funeral. "It will be fun and I wish I could be there," she wrote. She asked that people wear bright colors and she lined up a program that was vintage Silver with a positioning statement that summed up her life, "May the Memory of the Righteous be a Blessing."

Her "army of friends and colleagues," as one speaker put it, turned out for the service on the afternoon of Super Bowl Sunday.

And it’s not worth explaining, but if you know Bruce, this is fall-down funny:

PG&E’s interest is clear: to grab as many City Hall appointments as possible to protect and enhance the position of this corrupt and corrupting private utility. (See Guardian stories and editorials since l969.)

Roxanne Cooper:

When I was living in Japan, the whole enron thing happened …and all the sudden, on Armed Forces TV, Bruce was being interviewed (I think it was the JL’s Newshour) and I thought, "man, half a world away I can’t get away from Bruce and the Hetch Hetchy." Totally awesome.

And there’s a lesson here: If you live long enough, B3 will be right about everything.

As Rox says, he’s the last great crazy muckraker and they should build a temple to him at the Newseum.
