Whoo-hoo, even on dial-up I’ve not lost my touch…! *g*
i hope that forking peacock doesn’t make me take it down from the utubes until after this thread closes.
ROTFF!

Hi! The Boss rocked the house!
it’s boss time
Good evening everyone…… How is everyone?
Thanks for your Joe Cocker the other night. perfect choice, of course!
Also, I notice the Demint smackdown on an earlier thread. This was exactly what I was trying to get across to my dad the other night. Oy! I think I’m better now. :]
or (v. last thread) mold owl?
evening all
katymine!
dosido!
spur!
suze! & Pups! I managed to trudge upstairs. For someone who works 2nd shift, i’m not doing too well at staying awake tonight.
Temps went from 9 to 39! Dripping everwhere that made driving possible. We headed to the grocery and it was mobbed. Snow falling from roofs and awnings …
sunny!
ndfg!
suz!
yikes! i bet all the stores were packed and parking spots were hard to find.
ya gotta send that video of the smackdown to the dittohead
In my search to deal with the side effects of my chemo….. I’ve run across two very excellent blogs written by kidney cancer patients…… One from a man who had 24 tumors when diagnosed and within a year on Sutent had only 6…… He talked about naming his cancer…… and Elmore and I have done that……. the 8 nodules in my lungs are now called “those F*ukers” who invaded my lungs without permission and now are being evicted……. I’m running those F*ckers out of town……
Thought Suz would enjoy telling my nodules off…..
Yes.
We are so tired of winter…
is that the same chemo you are taking? do ya call em fuckers for short?
Ah Oh…. it will be 79 tomorrow……
Yep….. got sucked into these blogs hearing their stories…… One lady in the UK pretty much had the same Interlukin experience BUT I tolerated 25 doses total ….. I’m super woman…… Actually staring week 4 tomorrow…..
ouch…. that hurt
Crockett!
Tubbs!
;>)
tech crew is working to see why we went down for a wee bit
glad to see the video is still functioning and the peacock hasn’t snagged it yet
db!
Ah Oh I have dupes ….. clean up on aisle 31…..
lurk is fixing it katy
katy, did ya double enter or was it a dup on our end?
I got the message DB error and then hit submit again….. they it said it was a dup but it had to close the browser and restart FDL….
tech crew said thanks for letting us know what happened
Suz, I just lost my ability to connect to FDL for about 5 min.
we had a hiccup – tech crew is trying to find out what happened
Yay Suz, katy, Chris, CT, everyone!
hey margot – christine e said all her ice is melting – is yours?
Suz,
I connected ok to TBogg, if that’s of interest.
So, are you still on the mend?
it appeared to be limited to just fdl and not any of our sister blogs
today was the first day i could eat and not get queasy! almost did a happy dance but didn’t wanna risk re-upsetting my full tummy
snoozing off, night all
g’nite spur
I swear by ginger for upset stomach…… favorite right now is chocolate covered candied ginger ….. just had a handful
digg is open – thanks to rbg07 for opening it
boku wa aozora ni naru…
i will become the blue sky
*flails around madly* Watched the penultimate ep of one show, saw the ending of another. Egads i’m a crazy fangirl. The above lyrics(italics are translation) are from the one that a friend and i finished watching tonight. A fighter that did everything to keep everyone smiling, no matter the cost. Just damned glad he LIVED through that time final story arc. I swear, the show was as bad as soap operas with their year long plots and cliffhangers and teaser endings for hell.
But they make me so HAPPY. XD
i’m so glad the ginger is helping ya – are you making it or buying it candied?
hey alias – how ya doing?
to quote several others. “preview is my friend’
*glares up at the typos in her first comment*
Trader Joe’s carries but figured a lot of health food stores might have it too…. my mouth is sore & tongue raw so the chocolate is smooth and does not irritate things….besides chocolate is an antioxidant so who knows…..
no spellig police down here in teh comments
Katy I wish you as much comfort as possible while the drug makes you sick. You and Elmore are going to win. You are an medical industry professional and it might help you and others if you keep a chronicle of this experience. Hopefully medical research will be better funded. We animals evolved without 200,000 industrual chemicals. Now we are exposed to so much of it almost 1/3 of us will have cancer in our lifetimes.
We need amuch stronger and more proactive EPA and USDA which has shirked their duties and deregulated the polluters. It is so unfair that good hard working folks or those unable cannot have the medicals for their maladies. Thast all has to change or Obama is blowing smoke like the Daschle appointment that Greenwald comments on.
chocolate is always good
Alright for now. My family’s going through a tough time right now but i’m not going to share news on it until we know exactly what’s going on. It solved one problem and started up another, but not with me personally.
So in the meantime i’m working and distracting myself with some good japanese tv shows, but keeping the phone within reach. Hence the flailing about. *grins tiredly*
well said bb and i wholeheartedly agree
i’m sorry but i am glad the problem does not affect you personally. i have found my time at the lake is a great distraction for me.
Dugg it
sorry I wasn’t here to open the Digg. was catching up on various things after The Big Game.
not normally much of a football fan. but this game managed to hold my interest.
besides, I had to see the halftime show…
hey neuro – i only watched the half time show and the last 2:30 of the game. those 2 1/2 minutes left me hoarse.
{{{ alias }}} family worries are exhausting, it’s good you’re providing yourself with doses of happiness!
To Eureka Springs…ES that fall sounded bad with two broken arm bones. Hope they were clean breaks that will knit cleanly. Sounds like with all the ice everyone needs non slip shoes. Best to you friend.
he broke his humerus and said it was not funny
It’s japanese blend happy. I don’t know what it is about the tone, but i enjoy it immensely. Probably because they probably still know the meaning of ‘light hearted fun’ without being preachy or condescending while doing it. The fact that a couple of kids shows (generally 8-13 age groups for both that i watch) have better plots than a good 90% of the sitcoms on US tv, and at least half the dramas? Is pretty nuts. But then to japan? Being smart is a GOOD thing. (and it’s helping me learn some basic japanese while i’m at it)
And then there’s the ‘ohmygodtheydidn’tjustdoTHAT!’ moments that have me falling out of my chair in laughter.
In the last week I have been hanging out at a blog by a man named David Foster from Augusta who blogged his odyssey with kidney cancer, he was extremely eloquent but then he was a writer, publisher and quite funny too.
I’m finding many cancer warriors have blogs to document and express their feelings during their journey. Insights from Foster has helped me more than professional therapy…… someone walking in shoes before me…. This cancer warrior is quite happy to live each day given to her with my trusty knight Elmore at her side……. helping me fight the good fight…..
Just do not know if I have the ability to blog my cancer over many years span…. day in and day out…….
Serrano chile snacking…the oils are so hot a casual touch to the eyes and nose…hot hot hot. Took a shower and cooled it down. Good fat burner. Maybe some other benefits…great in chilis not so much in the eyes. G)
you could always diary at ox instead of starting a blog katy
As i said before, depending on the writing crew. Some of them also have soap opera complex plots with a good dash of sheer nonsense to keep the angst levels from getting too high. Me: *runs around madly in glee*
What more can i ask for besides eye candy galore in a fresh cast every year. they change the casts and the ‘theme’ every year. In january they start a new one all over again and play with the themes, character types and storylines every which way.
I missed that news. Link?
Oh no! Did he post earlier? Does he have power?
So how many of you have joined me in the ranks of the under-employed?
I hear you katy…nebertheless you bring the professional/helper perspective which I admire.
I have a friend who contracted fungus in the hospital when she delivered her 4th child. It has stayed with her the last 3 years. she cannot get her medical to cover her treatment which is alternative…pays $12,000 a year premiums without dental. have you run across stubborn fungus infection at the cellular level? She has discharged from it that drive her up the wall and drain her energy…with two adolecents and a 3 and 5 year old and the commensurate duties she ends up in bed a lot. Any thughts?
Did ES break one or two arms?
Did they cast them or did he require surgery to set them?
If it is two, hope he has someone who loves him enough to deal with activities of daily living…….. My oldest son went over the handle bars of his bike while we were on vacation and both arms fractured. One short arm cast and one long arm cast (to arm pit)……
i relayed es’s message in teddy’s thread. he slipped and fell, breaking his left arm badly on his 3rd day without power. he has an appt on tuesday to see the ortho surgeon. sounds like a bad break
es still does not have power. he is staying at a temporary location temporarily.
sounds like fun, and a visual treat as well!
yikes, that was badly worded. he is staying at an alternate location with power until his power is restored was my take.
The Daschles: feeding at the Beltway trough
good suggestion, hope you consider this, katymine. I know i check the diaries several times a day, and i’d definitely keep my eyes open for your contributions.
University hospitals tend to have specialists in specific areas but another source of assistance would be the VA hospitals with returning injured troops. It is my understanding they are coming back with some nasty bugs that are not responding to know treatments. Dr Kirk is affiliated with UCSF teaching facility and great source of info when I was first diagnosed…….
Worked with a nurse who returned from her peace corp commitment and had a nasty GI problem that just would not go away. OHSU (Oregon State University) sent her across the sky bridge to the VA GI guys and found parasites….. that were NOT found by traditional practitioners.
the bride (jennifer) found a job up here after months of looking and was laid off after 6 weeks. mike, her husband, finally found a job after 5 months and was laid off his first day.
she just got another job. i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed it lasts and hope mike finds one soon.
Have you considered making ginger beer? Non alcoholic versions sound easy and good. I’m tempted.
Elmore has been gainfully unemployed now for 13 years….. He is contract labor with the TeeVee broadcasters or the mobile TV truck company. So after tomorrow he will be unemployed as MNF is finished for 2008!
He is thinking of buying a small travel trailer with us having a road trip around Arizona ……..
crap.. jennifer is missing a 4 before months looking
I have ginger cat cookies, ginger snaps, real ginger ale, ginger beer, candied ginger, sugared candied ginger, ginger root capsules, ginger tea and fresh ginger. Love the cookies, the ale but the beer was too strong and as long is my tongue looks like raw hamburger……. its tea and chocolate covered candied ginger……
where around az ya thinking about?
Total bummer. Thx. I’ll look for your post.
suzanne, or anyone else, if you should have any contact with Eureka Springs, please express my concern and best wishes for his health and wellbeing.
i pretty much said the same thing int his thread that i said in teddy’s. es was hoping to maybe be able to join in the comments but when i last heard from him, he said it was time for a pain pill.
he said in his email that he would update again after the doctor apt tuesday. will be sure to pass on everyone’s messages and i’m sure he will enjoy all the hugs and warm positive healing thoughts for him in the comments.
Places we haven’t been…… Bizbe….. there are a lot of places that are interesting places to visit and poke around. Would like to spend time in Jarome (former ghost town turned hippy art community) and ride the steam train up the Verde Valley…… when it gets warm enough….. up to Monument valley to see all the sights that Tony Hillerman wrote about in his books…..
sounds like a wonderful time exploring your state. are ya thinking about hitting some of your neighboring states sites that are within a reasonable driving distance?
That’s quite a list *g* Oh your poor tongue! ((( )))
We were also thinking of Utah Arches and others, drive through New Mexico….. haven’t been since I was a kid……
sigh – that sounds lovely. i’ve always wanted to have an rv and drive around the country and see all the sights to see and being able to take as much time as i wanted.
Well, I’m going to take this not nauseated Cancer Warrior to bed…… good night everyone ……
g’nite katy the cancer warrior
hahahahahahahahaha
best tv ad evah!
So, Suzanne — you have the technology! How cool.
Thanks for this, we missed it.
Sorry Suz, I lost track of time. Yes we are dripping and melting like crazy. Just in time for another storm, I hear.
Katy, that sounds like a beautiful trip you’ve got planned. Remember there’s a new railroad from Albuquerque to Santa Fe that’s very popular and not expensive.
this should keep tounges waging in wapo-obama and dems grand bargain with gop on ss and medicare trimming-
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..id=topnews
John Steinbeck wrote a book titled “Travels with Charley”. A fun book. He kept a 30 gallon can full of laundry that the motion of the RV agitated clean. With you. Elmore and the animals it could be an adventure of a lifetime. I went through 4 corners and loved it. AZ has so much to see…I ike Oak Creek Canyon and Flag a lot. Indian art blankets and sand paintings are so unique. The natives are really wonderful Hopis. Navahos great ancient American cultures. I envy you.
Thx. Glad he’s warm.
How many of us have ever had the feeling that even if we worked 80 hours a week at what we were trained to do and have experience doing that we would be under-employed because it’s not what we’re best at or like the most?
A job counselor is supposed to help you get into a satisfying job which you can make a career. But, what would happen if all your aptitude tests showed you were best qualified to be a star-ship captain or a professional hit man or a Wall Street bank CEO? Whatcha gonna do for a job then? Huh?
i had a little help from a friend teddy, who wishes to remain anonymous and did all the heavy lifting.
also, see Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon.
and I am going to hit the highway to bed. nite, all.
nite neuro
g’nite neuro
Time for me to go to bed too.
G’nite, owl.

Any pups still awake?
My favorite ad this year.
Brilliant use of Peter and the Wolf , and one of those things that influenced my love of orchestra scores to this very day. I’m an electrioncia/techno geek, but because of things like that little symphony? I can hear the roots of orchestra in many techno tracks. They tend to build just as much as a symphony would when you get down to it.
i’m still here waccamaw
Night all. Take good care of your precious selves.
g’nite sunny
Hey, Suz -
Glad to hear you’re feelin’ better…and condolences to ES on the arm break; do ya know if he’s a lefty or righty? It’s still a hassle either way; only a little less so if non-dominate arm took the hit.
Late driveby– what’s on my mind tonight?
I finally watched Charlie Wilson’s War. I wonder how things would be in Afghanistan now if he had been able to get funding for his mini-”Marshall Plan”, starting with the funds for schools. No funds for schools meant that we ceded the Afghani school system to the madrasahs of the Taliban and other Islamic fundamentalists. And look where that got us.
Obama still seems to think that the answer in Afghanistan is more military power. That’s a mistake.
Bob in HI
he’s a lefty and it is his left arm that is broken :(
Oh, rats and codfish! :-(((
and a few forks too
time to cuddle with token. g’nite all and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
True, dat.
Are you and Bob (if you’re still about) still doing the facebook thingie? Here’s some really evil sounding news concerning it — “Facebook offers up users as marketing tool”
http://www.guardian.co.uk/busi…..nformation
There *are* some advantages of being a luddite; it never crossed my mind to join…even at the height of when seemed like everyone at the Lake was signing up.
Attaturk is upstairs!
It’s all downhill for civilization from this point
