It’s been a long haul for Lilly Ledbetter.  But today, President Obama signed the Fair Pay Act into law that bears her name. This law will not go back and restore all those years of less pay for being a woman.  Nor will it equalize her pension — based on her lesser pay amounts — even though Lilly was widowed in December and could probably use the extra money these days.

While few found the stimulus bill perfect for a variety of reasons, most sensible people admitted that it was desperately needed. Bernie Horn of CAF called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act “a remarkably ‘clean’ bill” and the biggest and boldest progressive legislation in 40 years.

But the praise isn’t one sided:”Economists across the political spectrum agree that a bold plan is needed to jumpstart the economy.

The peanut product recall is growing exponentially, it seems. As of this morning, the recall has been extended to products made from 2007 forward

I guess watching the GOP forced to kiss Rush Limbaugh’s pilonidal cyst made him feel a bit un-manly, especially after his own sad history as Dick Cheney’s bitch. Why he felt the need to reassert his masculinity by publicly losing his mind on TV I can’t say, but I imagine that having America watch Joan Walsh’s boot go up his ass wasn’t what he had in mind. He looked drunk on more than just ambition.

Just a little something that those Republicans and conservatives who want President Obama to fail might want to keep in mind.

Well, it passed. After taking out family planning money and ditching bankruptcy reform, plus including significant tax cuts, not a single Republican voted for it. It’s like Democrats are negotiating with themselves. They give things up and get no votes in exchange.
