Franken-Coleman Update: Yes, THAT Alan Page!

By: Phoenix Woman Tuesday January 13, 2009 5:32 am

If you were watching a lot of football during the 1970s, you probably saw the guy in the purple jersey on your TV screen every now and then. And if you were watching a lot of the Minnesota Senate recount via The UpTake over the past couple of months, you probably saw the guy in the black robe and bowtie at least once. Turns out they’re one and the same.

Franken-Coleman Update: Annals of WTF!?

By: Phoenix Woman Monday January 12, 2009 9:30 pm

Shades of Ken Starr’s subpoena-happy OIC — Norm Coleman’s people, trying to win in court what they couldn’t achieve at the voting booths, are starting to toss around frivolous, if not outright punitive, subpoenas:

Legislators Who Back Marriage Equality Get Re-Elected

By: Teddy Partridge Monday January 12, 2009 7:20 pm

No matter what they tell you about their high-minded ideals and commitment to public service, little matters more to politicians than getting re-elected. A new study, released today by Freedom to Marry (the gay and non-gay partnership working to win marriage equality nationwide) is very important to state officeholders everywhere.

Charlie Black: Lucrative Lobbying and Power Proximity Aren’t My Livelihood…Riiiiiight

By: Christy Hardin Smith Monday January 12, 2009 6:15 pm

When we last left Charlie Black, uber-lobbyist and Beltway crony of John McCain, his candidate had lost the presidential election in 2008. Since then, McCain has set up a PAC in a sadly lacking attempt to reclaim his moneyed-power base inside the Beltway by catering to “young Republican rising stars.”  (That’s a cost-effective short list.)  Note to McCain:  imitating the prune-filled stylings of Fred Thompson?  Not a winning strategery. And Black?  He’s revamping his image yet again, this time as party elder strategist extraordinaire.
