Bush said goodbye tonight. But we’re going to be shoveling out his shit for decades to come. For now, though, let’s reminisce.

Franken-Coleman Update: The Carve-Out and the Gang of (Sixty-) Four |
| By: Phoenix Woman Thursday January 15, 2009 6:02 pm |
Well, the schedule for hearing the Coleman contest has been issued — and it’s a doozy: The discovery’s allowed to go on until February 16, and the trial itself won’t start until February 23! No wonder Al Franken’s asking the Minnesota Supreme Court to intervene so he can get his election certificate signed; they’re set to rule on his motion on February 5. He’s asking the Soops to set up a “carve out”, or exception to the “no cert so long as there’s a contest” rule, for Federal legislative branch seats similar to a carve out that already exists for state legislative branch seats.
Alaska’s Bored, Pathetic, Anonymous Bloggers Raise $5,000.00 for Emmonak in Five Hours |
| By: EdwardTeller Thursday January 15, 2009 5:00 pm |
Yesterday afternoon, Alaska’s progressive bloggers responded to the growing winter crisis in the lower Yukon villages, most notably Emmonak. As word spread of the looming food and fuel crisis there, we decided to get our reporter in there, raise funds, and tell the true story of Alaska bloggers and how we help each other in the Far North.
Make America Happen. . . Again |
| By: Gerald McEntee Thursday January 15, 2009 4:17 pm |
Not since the darkest days of the Great Depression has an American President taken office with so many challenges awaiting him. But here’s the good news: America has overcome similar challenges before. And we can do it again.
Obama, This is UNACCEPTABLE: Rick Warren Invokes Hitler Youth |
| By: Lisa Derrick Thursday January 15, 2009 3:35 pm |
I know I have been on and on about Rick Warren and his loathing of homosexuals, his utter conviction that man and dinosaurs once frolicked together, that he doesnt think abused spouses should divorce because it’s not in the Bible, and his support of crazed African pastors.
Oh and he lies, prevaricates and removes things from his website that might be embarrassing (like the dinosaurs and forbidding active homosexuals form joining Saddleback Church–something he yanked after he met with Melissa Etheridge, because like she has a wife and so probably has sex, and it’s like better to have Teh Celebrity Gay than to tell the truth, Rick?)
But WTF?!!
Everybody Doesn’t Know about Mississippi, Goddam! |
| By: Phoenix Woman Thursday January 15, 2009 2:31 pm |
Ah, Mississippi, where the public schools are left to rot but the roads–or at least the people allegedly in charge of them–are rolling in dough.
BushWatch: The Hubris, the Horror |
| By: Tula Connell Thursday January 15, 2009 1:33 pm |
Someone responded yesterday to an AFL-CIO blog in which we mentioned that just days before leaving office, Bush got a whole new set of nearly $600,000 china for the White House. The fellow who commented was rightly appalled.
I don’t know about the rest of you who are reading this, but I am just barely making it the way it is.
