No wonder the Washington Post snatched Bill Kristol up, you cannot be so wrong so consistently and not catch the affections of Fred Hiatt.
Yesterday in the midst of a Howie Kurtz putz-kiss Kristol says:
Since Election Day, the GOP has been nowhere to be seen and Obama’s popularity has soared, but the Democrats’ edge over the Republicans in the generic congressional ballot of the Rasmussen poll hasn’t increased at all.
Yeah, Rasmussen…I prefer polls not endorsed by Larry Kudlow…and until Michelle Obama or Stokely Carmichael (same diff) tell me otherwise, I’ll look to more reliable sources – same day …
Forty-six percent of those questioned in a Diageo/Hotline survey released Wednesday say they would support the generic Democrat in the 2010 elections for the House of Representatives, with 22 percent backing the generic Republican candidate. That’s a 24 point lead for Democratic congressional candidates in the so called "generic ballot" question
This kind of insight does not grow on (or evolve down from) trees, Bill Kristol is going to demand a raise.

BK (Home of the Whopper) states, “This is the time for a thousand Republicans to bloom.” He’s working on providing the fertilizer.
here’s something I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned’
krystol double dips
1) he is paid by the sickos in the maniacal fraternity known as the pnac to distribute their propaganda
2) the corporate owned media who do the pnac’s bidding also pay krystol appearance fees
so there you have it, where krystol and company should be paying advertising fees instead he gets payed AND he is already paid by his “thinkless tank”
not bad work if you can get it
Citizen Attaturk and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Then folks talkin to each other in their own private echo chanbers are irrelevant today…nobody’s listenin’ and those that do believe their own experience over the tragic stupidity of these fuckin’ blowhards.
The world is changin rapidly and the faster it goez the behinder these bastards get. “Let ‘em out when they bark, dear!”
Does Obama refer to the US as The Homeland?
NPR news at 5am (ET) reported he talked about protecting “The Homeland” from terrorists during a speech at the Pentagon yesterday. Is that Obama’s language or NPR’s? Recording of that broadcast should be at this link. Won’t play for me.
It pains me that the Washington Post is taking the Times’s sloppy seconds. I thought Chuckie K filled their deranged neo-con quota.
” The Iraqi government has informed the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad that it will not issue a new operating license to Blackwater Worldwide… “

In more poll news that can’t be good for the Corporate Wing of the GOP or the Blue Dogs.
The title and subtitle on that one (at least a few hours ago) was this:
Found the implications of that subtitle veddy interesting. :-(
I hope KBR is next it sure would be embarrassing if the Iraqis get rid of KBR before we do.
Answering my own question – appears he does. Per MSNBC :

Good luck with that soul-searching, Czwartacki. Last I checked, it’s nigh on to impossible finding something that doesn’t exist.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Cohen and Kristof today. Ms. Collins, in “Lilly’s Big Day,” says it’s a good day for the feisty working women, like Lilly Ledbetter, who went to court to demand their rights, and the frequently underpaid lawyers who championed them. Mr. Cohen, in “After the War on Terror,” says in his first White House televised interview, with the Al Arabiya news network, President Obama buried the lead: The war on terror is over. Mr. Kristof, in “Putting Torture Behind Us,” says rather than lose forever the chance to grow from our missteps, here’s a proposal for confronting Guantánamo without distracting from the work on the economic crisis.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes this morning. Now that it’s clear that Republicans (at least in the House) have absolutely no intention of working to keep the country from sliding further into the dumper do you think it’s possible that we’ll hear the Nice Polite Republicans discuss ANY piece of upcoming legislation without the phrase “but it remains uncertain whether House Republicans will go along?” Don’t even bother to answer…
Investigating why the State Dept/Condi kept Blackwater on the job should be interesting. I’m guessing it will reveal that Condi was a figurehead with no real control.
I’m thinking Cheney ran the State Dept or Rove and that Big GOP contributors could not be fired from government jobs.
There are other Merc Firms out there and after the first few shootings Blackwater did more to anger and thereby endanger Americans than they did to protect them.
The Washington Post announced yesterday that it was dropping its Sunday “Book World” book review section, a longtime favorite of Mrs. Bilbo. Interesting … they drop Book World and take on William Kristol. There must be a lesson in economics in there somewhere.
now now, the republican party was highjacked by the ”neo-cons” and the nixon ”southern strategists”
if they throw those fascists out of the party and reclaim their real ideals they really do represent a valuable ballance
and there must be ballance, absolute power corrupts…a saying I did not invent myself
Now comes the real question. Now that Obama has repeated the GOP’s line from the last 8 years… …how long before the right wing realizes it’s a Nazi line?
I know it never occured to them when the GOP said it… …but now that the “evil one” has said it, the nazi comparisons can’t be far behind.
I,m lovin’ this new bipartisanship
And how would those four people be a balance?
Now if we could only get the Blue Dogs to stop being the Quisling Branch of the Democratic party.

Good Morning All,
Does anyone know if they have erected an altar at the rethug meetings to his exhaltation, Rush Limbaugh
I hope President Obama comes out today and lambastes the republic party. Give ‘em a good spanking.
first we’d have to throw the conservatives out of our party. which would be ok because they would have a not-batshit-crazy place to go.
fwiw, i may be a flaming lefty, but my problem is mostly with the authoritarians in both parties.
Yer snarkin’ on me now, ain’t ya? “Investigating”?

It was good to see that Cuomo was ahead of Patterson in a recent poll taken after he appointed blue dog gillibrand.
The Department of The Treasury has posted all of the contracts under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. That is more information than Bush released in eight years. An era of transparency…

Well, scar’s been running about 40 minutes; should’ve happened by.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vidkun_Quisling
Quisling lost voters as he shifted from a religious to more antisemitic, Nazi party.
Whats that saying about National Socialism (Nazism) National Socialism is the cooperation of Government and Corporations?
Arrgh! I hate when I don’t remember things
Sorry the point is religion draws in the sheep. Hate and the Corporate view of how the world should be are not enough.
Sarah has to be the next GOP leader.
Yes they did but he ate it:)
Not sure..might just be referring to the fact that they were the only ones that guarded diplomats. Plus the fact that Condi protected them when they should have been charged, fired, and other fun things.
KBR runs all of the bases. Don’t think that they can get rid of them. The US would have to give the contract to some other firm..won’t happen. The Pentagon protects KBR.
Any ideas on what time Obama is signing Lily Leadbetter? I have to get my tissues ready. Oh happy day!
Interesting point.
Wonder if he’s used it before and I’ve not noticed or if he picked it up chatting with the Pentagoners..
Here’s the MSNBC link
I believe that is sacrificial altar
Bless Lily! She was screwed monetarily but she won the war. :-)
The contract could be broken up into a buch of contracts
Darth protects KBR they used to be part of Haliburton. The Pentagon though are they also protecting KBR?
Was Condi a complete figurehead? Has she ever made a choice taken a stand against Bush or Cheney?
I can’t believe that KBR can’t find one Union electrician to work in Iraq?
Oh wait I bet KBR hired non union non American workers when ever they could.
I bet they made non union affiliation one of the requirements
good point
Interesting the GOP has gotten so Hating on Elites that they are now going after Union Qualified Electricians.
This might explain why the rebuilding of Iraq was a failure.
I watched a Frontline documentary from 2005, yesterday. The Pentagon won’t even release any information as to costs of running the bases. All KBR information is off limits to the taxpayers that pay for KBR because they are a private company. KBR contracted employees are guarded by the military. The head of KBR is x-military; in 2005, anyways.
The only thing I can remember reading is that Condi opposed attacking Iran. She never gave an interview stating there was a conflict between her and Cheney..others said it. Any oil company favored shill that has an oil tanker named after her has power. Her and her damned mushroom clouds; she got away with helping lie the US into invading Iraq. Got away with ignoring all warnings about the possibility of planes flying into buildings before 911, too.
My guess is that she was powerful. She sure got away with giving the middle finger to Congress enough times when she ‘testified’.
Norske — keeping you in my thoughts, sending good vibes that Monday goes well.
OUt of touch. What happnin’ with Norske?? I hope all is well.
Oh, good forkin’ grief! Nice to hear the FDA finally got off its collective ass and has now recalled every peanut product from the Ga. plant.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..eheadlines’’
that would be a kind re-writing of history;
the rebuilding was a failure because they wanted it to fail, because there were no regulations forcing them to pay their bills and they considered “rebuilding” another word for “we can steal more middle class assets”
The article could tell us what brands of peanut butter are affected so if we went to the store in the last month we could dump it.
Which explains why they didn’t hire qualified workers. Still you would thik they would have hired some qualified workers to build showers for our troops.
Just how Cheap is Bush?
Wonder how much of the Iraq budget was on State’s tab. Met a man who’d been over there early “training Iraqi police” who was paid (and handsomely) by State. Guess Bernie Kerik worked for State. Were they relying on diplomatic immunity for those guys? Or were they just trying to spread costs around?
Yes, it could. I just don’t think it can happen now because of the SOFA. What would be done about incomplete projects as an example. They have everything under their umbrella, so they have to complete the projects. The only way other companies could compete is if there were new projects. Let us all hope there isn’t because that would mean that leaving by 2011 is a lie.
Some of these bases are massive. KBR owns the trucks, buildings, equipment, etc., so the cost of rebuilding would be enormous. They got a no bid contract for all of Iraq. Legally Iraq is their playground. I’d guess that their contract was written to make sure there would not be any competition allowed.
NPR is shadow of it’s glory days during Watergate. This a.m. when “reporting” on the fight over the stimulus package the watchwords were “tax cuts” and the only voice heard was a Republican saying it’s just more unnecessary spending.
So Condi was a player or figurehead? I’m betting that whatever the truth is she will say she was a figurehead at a war crimes trial.
So it is better if we focus on proving she was a player. Its just all the Bushies are so obedient in public…especially Bush:)
Its hard to believe that any one but Cheney and Rove gave orders.
Morning, will no one rid us of the Bloody Bill Kristol?

Who knows..we’ll never know the truth about very much. Kerik is a real piece of work. To think that Guilliani was going to make him head of DHS if he’d become president. Scarey thought. A month or so ago I’d read that his trial was coming up soon. Going to have to goggle that later.
Morning all. Where’s Joe Scar? Is he on vacation? The shows so much better without him.
iirc, the article mentioned an FDA web site that lists the items containing the tainted products…….that’s assuming you trust anything the FDA puts out. :-(
Freedom of Information Act has been given orders by Obama to start producing more documents..to stop obstructing requests. She is like all of the rest of them..deny deny deny is their motto. The day might come where she can’t deny anymore. It amazes me that these criminals get paid to write books; everything in them will be a lie.
The Freedom of information act hmmm Rummy has a book coming out I wonder how many lies we can catch him in?
Who is replacing him?
I will as soon as Obama gets to replacing the Bushies.
Yeah, maybe I was stupid but once upon a time I trusted the FDA, EPA, FEMA and the police…probably never again.
True. You’d think they’d be more circumspect these days.
Its sad when you can’t trust the FDA I mean we all eat.
But I do understand what you are saying.
Any port in a storm for the Hiats and the Kurtz’s of Washington world. To get inside their head, you have to understand that what happened since Reagan is the creation of a kind of ‘Versailles’ society, in which the real perceived life is court ceremonial, paid for by the peasants who have to be propagandized and if necessary disciplined to keep them in line. It used to be that Washington was a town of civil servants supplemented by a fluctuating tide of political appointees and a handful of law firms that handled the lobbying. But since Reagan the lobbyists have taken over, and the town is essentially theirs. That’s what Cokie Roberts meant when she said the Clinton’s had come in and trashed the place.
Obama’s election represents a peasant revolt. The court society hasn’t quite adjusted to it, and it may take a long time. One key is stopping the lobbyists in their tracks, which would help shift the locus of real power.
Since when did any of these people represent ‘balance’? If Republican conservatives (not the moderates, the conservatives) had had their way throughout history, we’d still be sleeping in caves and wouldn’t have fire and would probably never have gotten smart enough to stop marrying our siblings, for crying out loud. If you want ‘balance’ as something that would involve whichever conservative qualities you might find needful, chose a moderate democrat, it’ll be closer to what you’re really after, these days!
Lilly Ledbetter won it for other people, she still got screwed.
