Zed!
Wow. “A total crapstorm” does sum up the last 8 years perfectly. I think I’m going to steal that term!
well, it is more polite than my favorite description: “cluster fuck”
from your digital recorder to god’s ears.

I’m also partial to catastrophuck…
On the Worst President Ever (WPE). It’s not even close, and it hasn’t been close since 2002. He literally wrecked or screwed up everything he ever touched. He never had any intention of ‘doing Presidenting’; he just wanted to ‘be’ President. That was obvious from the before he was elected.
What was alarming then, and remains alarming, is that despite his evident proven incapacity as an executive, one of our major parties selected him to be their leader and, as it turns out, ours. This speaks to a deep flaw in our political life that the last six or seven years of blogging by many people have helped to identify. The susceptibility of the American people to pure propaganda was greater than any of us at the time suspected, and I still have friends and colleagues who are in denial. But we saw it happen before our very eyes.
We can’t let this happen again. Ever.
W. is very proud to be considered the worst. Proud because he’s topped his father. Mission Accomplished.
Never (s)electing another Bush family member will go a long way towards accomplishing that.
How will the Bush family survive if denied the government teat?
w absolutely was the worst President of the US that ever was. It will be a very long time before we have one a bad as this. I must say, however, that he was among the most successful in getting his way. w set out to ruin the country and make the dems follow his lead. He nearly succeeded on the first part and did succeed on the second.
I must say that I believe that this is the first President who wanted to wreck the Union. In the past, I believe, the Presidents made mistakes but actually felt that they were doing the right thing for the Nation. w, I believe, only wanted to do the best for his base. Endless war, lassez-faire capitalism, and no bid contracts would be best to enrich his cronies. And all would rest on a bed of mercenaries when the military was irrevocably broken.
Now that w is out, perhaps pelosi and reid will have enough spine to investigate the crimes of the past administration. Without knowing exactly what happened and showing the crimes to the nation, we cannot go forward and guard against a repeat. Many of us know much of what happened, but there are many who do not read FDL and the other important sites so they continue to refuse to see the truth.
” one of our major parties selected him to be their leader and, as it turns out, ours.”
Well put. I hope one day the truth about the elections of 2000 and 2004 become common knowledge. The Supreme court and Diebold chose George Walker Bush, not the American people.
We use “craptastick” and “crapitude” in our house.
“The susceptibility of the American people to pure propaganda was greater than any of us at the time suspected, “
Well maybe not greater than suspected but certainly greater than many wanted to believe.
We are not out of those woods yet but FDL and the rest of the new ability of libruls to holler back into the big tube via the little tubes is not yet appreciated on the right. .
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Knut and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
“…he literally wrecked or screwed up everything he ever touched.”
Yes but let us remember that this massive failure of government and institutions was not simply the result of a mindless incompetent, rather it was the triumph of an ideology dedicated to the complete distruction of democracy and democratic institutions. Let’s make sure that GWB, the Chipenfeuhrer, is not a distraction from the real lesson history has once again provided…fascism has as it’s goal the complete elimination of individual freedom and collective opportunity. That is the lesson we should have learned from the existance of slavery and the American Civil War and certainly from the rise of German and Japanese fascism in the 1920’s thru the 1940’s.
Until we eliminiate fascism, root and branch, from our garden of democracy we will never be able to take the next step toward “a more perfect union”.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THE STRUGGLE IS RIGHT HERE IN YOUR LIVINGROOM!!
There’s always government contracts in Paraguay.
I would say, evidenced by many informed comments from people on the street yesterday, that the progressive blogs are making a bigger media dent with readers and providing the role of the Fourth Estate more so than people realize.
Truth, Norske.
Tell it!
Expression can be used in mixed company !
that works for me too *g*
Hey, they nominated freakin’ Sarah Palin for VP fer crissakes.
Does this really surprise you?
Now, we’ve got the Republican Party down, but they are not out, and we have to make sure that the Obama presidency is successful and that they suffer further and devastating losses in 2010.
4 or 5 more Senate seats would be nice, and it will be possible if those asshats stay true to their perpetual modus operandi and keep acting the way Cornyn acted yesterday. They are petulant little whiny-ass titty babies and they just can’t help acting the way they do. We The People have had it with that kind of behavior, and we will vote them out into oblvion.
Our challenge now will be to avoid letting power corrupt our progressive and loving agenda, and at the same time hold the war criminals and the oligarchy to account. We must pursue prosecutions against the Bush-Cheney Cabal but we can not become haters. It must be done with a spirit of patriotism, integrity, fairness, and the power of truth.
We got rid of the Fourth Branch. It’s a start.
It must be done with a spirit of patriotism, integrity, fairness, and the power of truth.
nah, nah, nah, nah/ nah, nah, nah,nah/ hey, hey/ good-bye.
The Bush family should be stripped of all of it’s wealth and it should be distributed to the poor.
Then they should all be made to live for the next six generations on the Minimum Wage and Social Security benefits.
it’s a start!
Oh, I think you may have misunderestimated me, that sentence would be for rest the family. Dubyah should spend the rest of his God-given life at the Greybar Hotel.
down on Leavenworth Street
please please please
Amen and amen and amen!
It’s the journey we are on.
To be better human beans.

HEY RAVEN…YOU OUT THERE BRO??!!!
Shrub’s speech in Midland..delusional still. “Proud to be the same man who was elected (sic) in 2000″
No growth.
But then he never grew beyond toddlerhood the first fifty-some years, anyway.
Seeing Cheney in the wheelchair at the inauguration of Obama reminded me of the scene at the end of “Casino” when the mob bosses enter the courtroom for sentencing with props of wheelchairs and oxygen masks – in hopes of getting home detention instead sitting in prison.
.
link to speech
he seems a bit loopy
Muzzy, the manly Mr. Biscuitbarrel and I immediately agreed that Cheney was a less classy version of Guy Caballero, the “president” of SCTV, who occasionally went around in a wheelchair, stepping out of it at will, because “you get more respect.”
Sorry, Joe Flaherty (who played Guy). You don’t deserve to be compared with Dick Cheney.
America Celebrates Obama, But Democrats Celebrate Lobbyists
Jane’s up
“Loopy” is very tactful. Sounds to me like W. hoovered down all booze in the minibar.
Well the democrats or “Democrats” nominated two “losers” to run against him. Losing to George W. Bush is about as bad as it gets. My fellow democrats who blame SCOTUS or Kathleen Harris or whomever miss the point. It should not have been close. BO is so good in so many ways but one way for sure is that he beat the Clintons and the Democratic Party should not have to suffer that series of indignities again. It is chilling when one thinks we could have been facing what we face now with the Clintons and the Robert Rubin mentalities in power again. Forward now
exactly. I saw “ploy” for sure. It reminded me of Mrs. Peterson at son Scottie’s trial with her oxygen mask. She really was sick, but I still didn’t buy it cuz she wore it EVERYwhere and on camera.
Bush/Cheney was the Hurricane 5 Katrina level of crapstorms.
Reminded me of Peter Sellers as Dr. Strangelove
Oh yeah, Dr. Strangelove………yes that fits, push the button and nuke out an atomic crapstorm.
Thank you for that reality check…….”lest we forget”.
