Inauguration Zed!!!!
Woohoo! The DAY is finally here! I woke up in such a great mood. I’m feeling peaceful with lots of pride and jubilation. I can’t really describe how I’m feeling but I do know I will be choking back tears all day.
Congratulations America and the world!
Gosh it is almost here. I am looking forward to the swearing in. Unfortunately we won’t have a swearing out opportunity. I have a whole lot of real choice ones.
4 hrs & 4 min
I got a feelin’ my wingnut boss is in for a lotta shit today.
Who wants to bet Dick Cheney doesn’t really have a back injury and wants to be in a wheelchair when Barack is being sworn in because he refuses to stand to honor the 44th President of the United States? Wouldn’t surprise me in the least. Dick Cheney has no honor. A good example would be what that asshole wore to the Auschwitz Memorial a few years ago:

Disrespectful warmongering hateful asshole!
great expectations indeed for The Speech
makes hims pitiable, too. Who can throw shoes at an old man in a wheelchair?
Excited much? *g*
Watch me.
OT: In a few hours, Barack Obama will solemnly swear to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States,” whose Article II will require him to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” and whose Article VI makes Senate-ratified treaties “supreme law of the land” binding on “the judges in every state.” One such treaty is the U.N. Convention Against Torture, which requires its parties in whose territory a torturer is found to apprehend him and prosecute or extradite him, “no exceptional circumstances whatsoever.”
BRING ‘EM TO JUSTICE !!!
OK, not even a dozen comments and the numbers are off. Whatz up wid dat?
Yeah, that too. What a coward!
Got your bottle of wine ready, Elliott? Woohoo!
4 hrs!
Imagine there might be a few volunteers on the mall in DC
3 hrs & 59 min
[waving wildly] Me! Me! Me! Pick me!!! Oh, weren’t you asking for volunteers? Never mind…
I am ready to celebrate our freedom from Bush *g*
lmao!
why am I not surprised for this volunteer. heeheehehe
Thank goodness I have Board meeting during the inauguration. I’m tired of the whole folderol already.
Good riddance to W. So glad to see his back walking away for the last time.
Those would be Dutch shoes, right?
707
Me too! Mike Barnicle of Morning Joe said this morning he was amazed at the faces of the people along the Mall yesterday in DC when he was walking around. He said there is something in the air and he didn’t meet one person who didn’t have a story as to why they were there. People are arriving by plane, train, bicycles, and on foot just to witness the 44th President of the United States: BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA!
By the way, we must use “Hussein” a lot because it makes the right wingers cringe. ;-)
And may you be the one shoveling it on him. :-))
Yes, a mere husk of himself, having given his all to the nation, blah, blah, blah …
(As an aside, ‘twould seem, if the wee stingie thingie that beplaguered the lake recently is an ‘indicator’, that the wing-nutters will be utterly demoralized if Bu$hco is brought to account … it might be the ‘last straw’ for many. Just sumthin’ to consider.)
Marion, take off your shoe and throw it anyway! LOL
Left ya one downstairs.
Got mah shovel ratcheer. An’ it’s a big ‘un, too.
LOL!
I’m coming home early an’ I’m gonna be waitin’ for that fool to show up. Yesterday was a lark. Today is back to Take No Prisoners mode.
So far, one person arrested for throwing a shoe at George Bush’s White House:

The honeymoon will be shortlived. The corporate media and the Republicans are chomping at the bit. Get ready to take on the reactionaries on every front.
If you’ve been to jail for justice
You’re a friend of mine.
;~D
Locked and loaded.
Hope you have a big picture of Barack Hussein Obama to put up in your workplace.
3 hrs & 47 min
Heh! I’ve always been an animal lover.
as SD swings across the parade ala John “Bluto” Blutarsky
Exactly. Those who are arrested after getting up on their soapboxes, well, we looooooove them. ;-)
Despite what he actually does as president, and we hope he does the right thing, the fact that a person of color has been elected POTUS is something of a milestone.
The media will turn this into a overdone media event, but one can’t but notice that people are celebrating and relieved that our long nightmare may be over. Whether it becomes a dream is yet to be seen.
I would like to believe that this is another step forward in the struggle against racism. At least the nation has made a formal acknowledgment of its promise of equal opportunity that anyone can be president, even a black and white mixed race person of humble background.
When the party is over we need to begin the hard work of getting this ship off the rocks.
What a great protest! Wish I could have made it.
That’s a great article. The parting shot from the SS guy, “You all won,” says it all.
It is indeed a victory over racism. The next battle will be the defeat of facsism, in all it’s guises.
Wouldn’t it be great if George & Laura Bush had a pile of shoes out front of their new home in Dallas waiting for them today? LOL!
And yes! The SS agent was terrific to acknowledge that they all had won.
LOL. I’m thinner, though.
George Bush has left a note to Barack Obama in the Oval office:
http://www.google.com/hostedne…..gD95QRGO00
Who wants to bet it says, “This is a stick up. Give me all your money or nobody gets hurt”?
BBC has their finger on the pulse of America and a great voice to hear
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/pro…..838941.stm
Send him up here, we’ll do it !
“Welcome to the Neighborhood” *g*
Good luck to them … the depth and breadth of his wisdom is frickin’ amazing
Radio is playing “Bright Sunshiny Day.” They’ve been on it all morning. Makes me wanna go outside and yell, “Fuck all you fascist Rethugs!!!!“
Heh. Watching the Chu confirmation hearings. Murkowski asked him about nuclear, and instead of kowtowing to her by saying waste disposal is a problem that can be solved, he said he thought that waste disposal, including recycling, was still a research project. Good for him. (Don’t know about the merits of what he said, only giving him kudoes for not giving the answer she wanted.)
First Rule on giving a speech this morning in DC: Must Not Allow Teeth To Chatter.
Damn, it’s cold out there.
I can see clearly now the rain is gone.
-G
Is that live? Which c-span?
At JFK’s inaugural it was also very cold. I never noticed.
Amen.
The majority of America has finally stopped blocking the doors to the capital for a segment of America that has been here since the beginning.
It is a monumental change.
-G
I can see all obstacles in our way
I have 2 questions. Who is that female creature on Joe Scarborough’s show, and is she always this vapid?
cspan3.x
It’s the only thing that I could find that wasn’t inauguration. cspan2 seemed to have some bogus program on how women earn just as much as men, and I couldn’t stay there for more time that it took my thumb to flip the channel. *g*
Those are his positive characteristics; what are his negative?..’g’..
Do you mean Mika Brzezinski?
Had the feed for a minute then it went poof.
From what I heard the Bushes will be going to Crawford as their house in Dallas won’t be ready for two months.
3 hrs & 25 min
The right wingers are suicidal at this point. Here’s one suicide note I found over on Little Green Footballs from last night:
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/showc/20/6555579
Poor things. LOL
So what’s everyone’s take on Bush not pardoning Libby and all his cronies? You think he feels betrayed by them and thus wants to screw them all? Personally, I love it. Watch the repubs now turn on Bush and start revealing all sorts of behind-the-scenes embarassing info. “Fuck me….fuck you.”
Do you think it’s possible that now we have a new administration we can stop referring to “the homeland,” which has always put me in mind of a different country in a different time (and NOT in a good way)?
Oh, dear… Is that who it is? Her father must be mortified.
Quick Odd check, watching CNBC. They have live feed waiting for the Obamas to leave for church. There is a 8+ min delay on Obamas leaving and there seems to be confusion about who goes where. Are they changing cars?
Just odd because of how finely timed these ‘things usually are.. (I know, probably just nerves on my part.)
yes. please, please, please,
Once Barack Hussein Obama is sworn in, you can bet your sweet bippy after a certain amount of time there will be some who will sing like canaries! Can’t wait. Just like Scott McClellan, there are others who want their guilt to go away and what better way to do it then to write a book or hold a press conference!
I think he is.
I’m watching the same thing on C-SPAN right now.
Yes she is. A potted plant. In her defense, whenever she (meekly) disagrees with Joe, he becomes a demeaning bully and puts her down with ferocity. Mocks her, belittles her. She’s learned to sit there and grimace silently.
Strictly protecting himself and Deadeye Dickhead. If pardoned, Libby et al can be subpoenaed before Congress and compelled to spill the beans. Shrub and Deadeye want to avoid that at all costs. Not to worry though, they’re lined up waiting to tell Seymour Hersh all.
I’m leavin’ work around 11:30. Gives me time to put rings on me fingers, bells on me toes and bone through me nose, ho ho.
Can’t wait to read Sy Hersh tomorrow morning. I hope he already has his article written.
Morning, Solai – I think this is completely consistent with Bush’s operating principle, which is don’t try to make me do something I’ve already made up my mind NOT to do. He already commuted the guy’s sentence – why should he pardon him? It will be interesting to see if any list comes out at 11:59 a.m. this morning.
For those watching JoeScar, did you notice that most of the men traded in their usual casual clothes for a shirt and tie this morning? Not Joe, though.
If Libby is pardoned, would he have to testify in front of Congress if called?
Shoes were thrown to ’shoe Bush away’, yesterday, at the White House.
**********
The group had a police escort in front and back and were allowed to march on the closed streets. Iraq Veterans Against the War, World Can’t Wait: Drive Out the Bush Regime, Code Pink and other protest groups took part in the demonstration.
The final DC protest of Bush the President culminated with a barrage of shoes being hurled at White House gates; a symbolic gesture of solidarity with Muntadar al-Zeidi, an Iraqi correspondent for Al-Baghdadia television, who threw his shoes at President Bush as he gave a press briefing in Baghdad.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/….._0119.html
Absolutely.
Looks like Southern Democrat already answered that question.
Yes, I think it’s a tragic case of Stockolm sydrome.
I think that I’ve seen people claim executive privilege even after the executive they served left office. (But I’m not absoutely sure of that.)
I love it.
They’re also broadcasting from a bar.
you sure know how to dress for a party!
Hey, I’m an indy anarchist. *g*
Hugh’s upstairs
The Bush Scandals List as Bush Leaves Office
Impeccable sartorial eloquence!
As befits the occassion …
;~D
Had not recalled the book in ages, Tom Wolfe’s “Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flack Catchers“. Spot on.
Oh shit, there goes all our bandwidth.
LOL
Whoops!
Oh, darlin’,
You just would *not* take my advice and hit the clicker. *g* “Vapid creature” is a most excellent description!
Well, darn, that’s a re-run. Guess it’s time for me to go give my reichwing boss a ton o’ shit in small portions.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
They will be there again today.

3,000 in Front of FBI Building for Inaugural Parade to Demand Bush’s Arrest
For January 20th, 2009, http://arrestbush2009.com has secured a permit for the front of the FBI building for a Yes We Can Arrest Bush event during the Inaugural Parade.
An ARREST BUSH sign that can be downloaded from our website, and is a free inaugural parade ticket that is required to enter our permitted area.
We call for the arrest of George W. Bush for instigating war against a sovereign nation that posed no threat, wanton attacks on civilian populations, use of torture, and violations of the U.N. Charter.
We call for the arrest of George W. Bush for lying to Congress and the American people about the reasons for invading Iraq, for the deaths of US service members and Iraqi civilians, and for the abuse of the United States Constitution.
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/38872
3000. That’s a nice crowd.
Been sayin’ it since day one:
Never. Give. Up.
Exactly!
A Shrub rally is scheduled to meet his plane in Midland(?) TX later today.
Gotta be the only place in the world they could get more than 2 people together that like Shrub and his policies.
And Shrub will prolly flip them off.
Naaa..his ‘friends’ will be there simply ’cause he is a vindictive puke and they don’t want to piss him off by not showing up. Not a rally..it is a meeting of the ‘dead enders for Bush’ crowd.
Oh..wait..a free concert..they’ll show up for that!
********
“The president said at the White House Christmas party that he left from Midland and was coming home to Midland because we’re the ones who are his friends and great supporters and he wanted to be with us when he left Washington,” County Republican Chairwoman Sue Brannon said in Monday’s online edition of the Midland Reporter-Telegram. “It shows what a fine gentleman he is.”
As of Monday afternoon, 1,500 free tickets remained for the event which will feature entertainment by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Rodney Atkins and Lee Greenwood.

What a day…so glad to be with the pups..reminds me of the long walk through the election. I have loved the hour count down; and yes, it will be so good to say g’by to W. I so wish that the great Molly Ivins were among us to somehow sum up the outrage of these years: She would start with I Told you So, and then get warmed up.
When we were following the Libby trial, there was alot of discussion about his wife. Now that he has been left “as is”, maybe she will start speaking out. It’s happened before.
May the list of those who speak out be longer than Hugh’s!
Bush feels he is above the law. Pardoning anyone will mean that they did break laws and take away their 5th amendment … see Iran contra, S & L, etc.
There will be Civil War in the Repug Party and years from now, the victors will tearfully praise Dubya as being the guy who saved the party. A concerted effort will ensue to rename half the country after him.
I was disappointed when this attempt failed. Renaming a sewage plant after Bush was 100% appropriate because he flushed America down the toilet.
********************
Well, a new measure has now qualified for the November ballot in San Francisco. And it’ll likely help draw out city voters from the Democratic and from the Republican party, all three of them there.
It’s the measure to rename the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant, which treats waste water from San Francisco’s west side, the George W. Bush Sewage Plant in an effort to embarrass the president for actions such as the Iraq war.

Based on the language you use to describe a president, you are equally disrespectful and hateful.
Typically people who lay blame on someone else should really take a look in the mirror. You might consider a better place to live because terrorism won’t go away and American’s will have to continue fighting for their freedom indefinitely. You might not like the war in Iraq or reasons for going there, but to think it was done on a whim, by so many countries who confirmed the U.S. “bad” intelligence is truly simpleminded.
War is not a good thing, but every place American forces have gone to fight for freedom and protect our freedoms at home, we have stayed. Close to 400K U.S. troops are deployed on foreign soil today, including every country we’ve defeated in war. Every country where the U.S. has an embassy there are U.S. Marines stationed, including Hanoi, Vietnam. To pull combat troops out of Iraq will have many ramifications, but chances are this will happen to satisfy political promises. Those troops will probably redeployed to Afghanistan where the U.S. should have concentrated its efforts on terrorism in the first place. Wonder if the pullout in Iraq results in a blood letting beyond your wildest imagination, will this satisfy your protest and make you happy?
As a combat veteran who was wounded in action, degraded and spat upon when I returned from protecting your freedoms to protest an unpopular war, I’d do it again in a heartbeat if it meant fighting an enemy that threatens our country. It has always amazed me the United States has so many young men and women in uniform willing to sacrifice for those who have never spilt one ounce of sweat or one drop of blood serving their country.
You really ought to savor your freedom, show a little class, and not be so disrespectful towards a president who did his best to protect our country. But, since you’re obviously classless and hatefully minded, here’s wishing you an early transmission failure in rush hour traffic and may the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits.
Peace, out.
GWOT is a lie. Every war the US has been involved in was started with a lie. Protect freedom..in Orwell’s doublespeak, perhaps. WTF..the invasion of Iraq was an illegal act of aggression…what about that don’t you understand?
If you do not realize that 911 happened because of that fool and his buddies who just left the White House, you need to do a lot more research. Or do you believe that a box cuter defeated NORAD?
Bring all of the troops home. They are dying for PNAC. The only freedom they are dying for is the freedom of the MIC to conduct wars for never ending profits. It is about the oil; it is always about the oil.
