IIRC, there was some hope that if President Clusterf*ck Bush pardoned Scooter, that Congress could subpoena him. With the pardon in place, he couldn’t assert his 5th Amendment rights. We couldn’t prosecute him for the crimes, but we could prosecute him for contempt or perjury or both, if he did not testify truthfully.

I could easily be wrong about all or part of this, but just wanted to get it out there.

That’s why Scoots was convicted for Obstruction of Justice. And just because Armitage leaked doesn’t mean he was the primary or first leak.
