So, like any religion you do not happen to agree with, speak out about it! That happens to be your right in this country. Scientologists claim theirs is the only true religion, why don’t you go after them? Every religion believes the entire world should only believe their particular religion, why don’t you bitch about Pentacostals, or Catholics, or Baptists. or Mormons? These groups have all used violence, in the name of religion, to get rid of non-believers, why don’t you bitch about them, too?

It’s all a matter of degree. When the choice is the Inquisition and death compared to “OK, you can live and pray as you wish as long as you keep quiet and out of the way” then, the latter becomes an island of tolerance.

It really wasn’t all that warm a welcome. Islam is only very superficially tolerant. The Sunni guardians in Saudi Arabia and the Shia theologians in Iran have a similar approach to freedom of conscience in religious matters. See Apostasy, penalty for.
