I’m actually less concerned about what anybody does with the American flag than I am about the way that Bush desecrated our Constitution and his oath of office.

A guy who used to work for me dad was a pilot on AF 1. He had a picture of his father & JFK standing on the landing of the stairway. JFK was holding him as a newborn in his arms. They do become friends.

In the spring of 2002, I was doing some volunteer roadside cleanup along the Glenn Highway, between Anchorage and Wasilla/Palmer. We must have picked up hundreds of wasted, discarded American flags. People had put them on their rear-view mirrors, door handles, hood ornaments – ANYTHING – after September 11th, 2001.

I gathered them all up and brought them to a Boy Scout troop for what they call a “flag retirement ceremony,” where they legally burn this debris. I went to the ceremony to play “Taps.”

Just Friday, I saw a Wasilla Wingnut, who had a morphed Confederate-US flag on his pickup truck. He was gone before I could get a pic with my iPhone.

Yeah, I noticed that ultra big womanny ring thing. He actually wears that? Are we sure it’s McCain’s hands? I’d hate to tar him for wearing such an ostentatious thing, but if it’s his, I think it should have been pointed out long before this and loudly given a round or two of mocking laughter. Alas for chances missed to have fun at the expense of the expensive.

I dislike a lot of what Bush did but the bottom line is we haven’t had a terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11, and we’re going to be a lot less safe on 12:01pm Tuesday. We’re going to be fighting terror with one hand tied behind our back for the next four years, and I hope it doesn’t bite us in the ass.

And by your definition, the rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel are not acts of terror given that there have been few fatalities so would be considered “minor.”

Have you ever been shelled before? Even if the shelling doesn’t kill many people it makes doing just about anything you would do normally absolutely impossible.

The bottom line is there has been no major terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11 and I think even fair minded liberals should be able to appreciate the President for that.

Not true. Embassies are considered American soil, and we had attacks on them in Kenya and Tanzania.
