housecleaning.jpgSomehow, I’m thinking the "Barney ate our documentation" argument isn’t going to fly with the incoming administration–or a none-too-happy federal judge. Too funny:

A federal judge says the incoming administration of Barack Obama must be given copies of documents the Bush White House has been withholding from Congress on the firings of nine U.S. attorneys.

By having the documents also given to the incoming Obama administration, Judge Bates end-runs what would have been a National Archives stash and run by the Bushies on this.

Say it with me: awwwww.

Once the documents were filed with the archives, Congress would have had a more difficult time obtaining them. By giving the docs to the Obama administration, the continuity on possession outside archived material continues. Which means the Obama administration could now proceed with the documentation via DOJ and/or through Congressional inquiries.

And, since some of these documents are surely handwritten, personal notes and such? They would not necessarily have been contained in existing government files.

But now they can be.

Additionally, the fight to force testimony from Josh Bolton, Karl Rove and Harriet Miers before the House and Senate judiciary committees continues as well. And will keep going in the 111th Congress.

You have to wonder if those archived USAtty firing documents will come with their own set of latent quail-wing marinade-covered fingerprints.

And given the insulting inanity of Bradley Schlozman’s e-mails (who in the hell is so stupid they put something like this in official, departmental e-mail?), you have to wonder what Potty-Mouth Karl said in all of his, don’t you? Or whether other still-missing e-mails might be included in the pile?

Marcy has much more.

PS — A little Beltway bird tells me that Ledbetter will be coming up in the Senate beginning January 15th. Please call your Senators today to support pay equity.

Also, SCHIP is coming up for another vote in the House and Senate shortly as well — most likely this afternoon in the House. The Speaker’s blog has a summary. The fine folks at FamiliesUSA have set up an 800 number for calls on this issue: 1-800-828-0498. Now, let’s get to work…
