Rules for pardons will likely be different than ever before. You just know Bush has a signing statement or Executive Order that changed them. Cheney told him to say “I pardon everyone directly, or indirectly, associated with any of the following”. I know..I am a bit of a cynic, but why would he change at this late date? He just gets rid of rules he doesn’t like…you know, like the Constitution just being a goddamned piece of paper.

From what I’ve read, that’s the prevailing legal opinion. Neither the recipients nor the offenses have to be specifically identified. I’m quite sure that there have been blanket pardons for groups for specified offenses, and Ford pardoned Nixon of unspecified offenses:

Now, therefore, I, Gerald R. Ford, President of the United States, pursuant to the pardon power conferred upon me by Article II, Section 2, of the Constitution, have granted and by these presents do grant a full, free, and absolute pardon unto Richard Nixon for all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from July (January) 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974.

I’m not sure that I’ve heard of an unenumerated group being pardoned for unspecified offenses, but I’ve read that it should be possible.

1969 I attended some of Shlomo Carlebach peace sing ins. It was inspirational…never caught on in a big way power is a bigger draw for the neocons…peace is considered lame.
Is there any arab peace movements? Any Muslim peace movements, kahlil Gibran wrote “The Prophet”, a book I read in the late 50s, seemed to be a peaceful soul.
