Funny thing…I first saw the unedited clip of him talking to Obama before the BigMedia creation started, and started sending a link to it to friends saying, “See how Obama wins this guy over. This is how we’re gonna shift the pendulum back to truth and justice.” You rarely see a politician spend so much time with someone and actually listen so intently while giving really reasoned answers. I thought Obama had won him over, or at least made him think.

I think it was the next day or maybe even same day, and Samuel went on Pox Newz and it was like Obama never said a word. Plumberbutt just kept repeating the same talking points that Obama clearly addressed. Made no sense whatsoever, and I started thinking this guy is part of some game. Oh, that’s rather sad. Newspapers hold a special place in my heart, good bad or otherwise. It’s a very difficult business and such a necessary part of democracy. I guess it’s being reinvented on the net, which is good. But still, knowing your facts, ability to write well, and make a living at it is pretty tough. Call me a romantic of the first order.

It is sad. For a while, the Strib was part of McClatchy, and it was a really good paper. Since then, non-journalism orgs have owned it and treated it like a rag.

I’m not positive what the mod situation is but IIRC there have been times when PJ media has been linked to from FDL (I know some right wing site has done this and think it is PJ) and they didn’t like the idea and re-directed the links.

It’s not a problem if you want to visit them and stay in touch with their noise but I do hope you have plenty of disinfectant handy for afterwards. :})

Yes..icky..but I will remind everyone that they have major influence. If you want to know what they are up to, you have to read the site. Does it not strike people as odd that they can get Joe to Israel with all of the permissions necessary in such a short space of time? Reporters, real reporters, are being kept 15 miles from the border. This screams government involvement from the Republican side of the White House. The pro Israel propaganda is spewing out of his mouth and that is what he was sent there to do.

Traffic to their site means nothing. What they are doing to organize to revitalize the Republicans means everything. They pushed Palin in 2007..need I remind anyone how popular she was in 2008? I see two comments above with links to Pajamas Media, one with a note asking folks to be careful. As far as I know FDL has never pulled the trick of re-directing someone who has linked to them and, though it may not have been done by PJ Media, I’m fairly certain that at least some of the right wing sites have done that to links coming to them from places like FDL.

And I have no doubt that Sammy Joe got some special help for his visa and such. Just like Guckert/Gannon got his special help. Its how they operate. I don’t have to view their gibberish to know this. I’m just thankful for self-sacrificing folks like BT (and barbara) who are willing to give of themselves and go over to visit the places like PJ Media (or Malkin or NRO or …)

Unlike many of my friends on this site, I APPRECIATE JTP. I think he’s doing a very useful service, repeating the same crappy, authoritarian talking points that are the standard-issue discourse in american media and political life:

“Israel” is right – this includes the religious crazies
Arabs are bad and have no legitimate grievances
any level of violence used by Israel is OK buy us
the media should not cover what is going on.

When JTP says this stuff, he’s reciting the same talking points that the rest of them do – it’s just a little clearer what’s really going on.
