It appears there's at least one person who thinks George W. Bush was an awesome president.

The buck never stops with W., who has been pushing this "52 uninterrupted months of job creation" spin for a year. Considering Bill Clinton's tenure produced 21 million new jobs and W.'s, 3 million, and that he has the worst job creation record of any modern president, it's just pathetic. It's also a bit like bragging about how many accident-free days you had at the factory before it blew up and killed everyone.
After the attacks of 9/11, my mission was to protect the homeland and to put tools in place to enable future presidents to protect the homeland. And that has been accomplished," Bush said. "There hasn't been another attack."
This is the same nonsense Nooners served up: because the nation suffered only one historically-catastrophic attack on W.'s watch, that somehow vindicates his presidency. Tough sell.
And speaking of mission accomplished...

Yeah, playing dress up and prancing around the deck of an aircraft carrier and saluting for the cameras and crowing about the Great Victory in Iraq on worldwide teevee was all for the sailors' benefit.

One of my biggest bones with these guys is their claim that they kept Americans safe. Not safe from Katrina. Not safe from white collar criminal activity which has flourished since they eviscerated the various units to put personnel on ‘terrorism watch’. Not safe from Wall Street, Bank and insurance company fraud and crime. Not safe from hate crime. Not safe from having their phones tapped and emails read. Americans feel less safe now than probably at any time in the past 100 years. And that is just domestically - Americans are probably less safe when traveling internationally now than ever before.

Absent the ability to see into his soul, I think it’s either a titanic defense against the truth or it’s self-delusion. Imagine a moment of seeing oneself in the hard light of truth. I don’t think he can consciously. It’s one of the hardest thing for any human being to do. It’s what a warrior does though in the holy war against the enemy which is ourselves. Anyway, there’s a great quote I think from Jung about this which I can’t find at the moment. But, there’s a great line from Henry Jaglom’s film “New Year’s Day.” There’s an exchange between his character and David Duchovny’s character:

This is a lie. The anthrax attacks happened after 9/11. In fact, 9/11 wasn’t what turned this nation into a scared mob, it was the anthrax attacks. Seeing buildings destroyed in a far-off city is horrible, but it’s isolated. Wondering if the next letter you open was filled with poison is what really let the Bush government get their way when it came to starting wars and stripping us of our liberties.

I don’t know if Bin Laden is alive or dead, but 9/11 had to have achieved results far beyond his wildest dreams. There is no way a group of Eight Century fanatics could have destroyed the United States, unless we did it ourselves. With 9/11 as a catalyst, we may have managed to do that. Why would Bin Laden have wanted to expend any more resources until the reaction stopped?

I had no knowledge of these attacks, nor do I consider the killing of innocent women, children and other humans as an appreciable act. Islam strictly forbids causing harm to innocent women, children and other people. Such a practice is forbidden even in the course of a battle. It is the United States, which is perpetrating every maltreatment on women, children and common people of other faiths, particularly the followers of Islam. All that is going on in Palestine for the last 11 months is sufficient to call the wrath of God upon the United States and Israel. There is also a warning for those Muslim countries, which witnessed all these as a silent spectator. What had earlier been done to the innocent people of Iraq, Chechnya and Bosnia? Only one conclusion could be derived from the indifference of the United States and the West to these acts of terror and the patronage of the tyrants by these powers that America is an anti-Islamic power and it is patronizing the anti-Islamic forces. So, they first started propaganda against Usama and Taleban and then this incident happened. You see, the Bush Administration approved a budget of 40 billion dollars. Where will this huge amount go? It will be provided to the same agencies, which need huge funds and want to exert their importance. Now they will spend the money for their expansion and for increasing their importance. I will give you an example. Drug smugglers from all over the world are in contact with the U.S. secret agencies. These agencies do not want to eradicate narcotics cultivation and trafficking because their importance will be diminished. The people in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Department are encouraging drug trade so that they could show performance and get millions of dollars worth of budget. General Noriega was made a drug baron by the CIA and, in need, he was made a scapegoat. In the same way, whether it is President Bush or any other U.S. President, they cannot bring Israel to justice for its human rights abuses or to hold it accountable for such crimes. What is this? Is it not that there exists a government within the government in the United Sates? That secret government must be asked as to who carried out the attacks

Depending upon your view, Bush did a great job! Like most of you, I’m unhappy with what he did but few really know what his focus was… There are OTHER reasons why he did what he did and unfortunately they aren’t going to surface to later. At that time we’ll all know the truth with why he did what he did and I would expect us all to be even angrier than now.
Don’t get me wrong… I’m as unhappy as the rest of you. Please realize that there is something else much more insane than what we already know that is the reason why he did what he did.
