While Dick Cheney is forced to drive the Lark Jesse Helm’s bequeathed him to the House and preside over the tally of the electoral college, in Minnesota the anti-climatic drama plays out in a manner befitting Norm Coleman.
Doing the least possible to accomplish as little as possible in as annoying a way as possible being the only possible possibility.
The petition has an almost generic quality. Think of every imaginable way that a vote for Coleman that should have been counted was rejected, add every way that a ballot given to Franken should have been disqualified, assert that all of these things happened and that if the courts will simply revisit the entire recount they will come to a different outcome.
These type of filings are known as (1) losers and (2) cut and paste jobs. I just hope Coleman’s lawyers were able to have their legal assistants review it to make sure they replaced the old client’s names with Coleman’s name. Of course, a truly "elite" and properly billing firm will never put actual names in any such pleading, but rather the word "Plaintiff" and/or "Petitioner".
THAT’S how you bill in the most efficient, yet profitable, way possible.

Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Cohen and Kristof today. Ms. Collins has “The Illinois Senator Checklist” and a question: Was the selection of Roland Burris by the Rogue Governor Rod Blagojevich “tainted,” in the words of the Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, or “what the Lord has ordained,” in the words of Mr. Burris? Mr. Cohen, in “The Dominion of the Dead,” says other bitter historical hatreds have cooled, but in the Middle East the dead still rule. Mr. Kristof writes about “The Gaza Boomerang.” He says what we’re seeing in the Middle East is the Boomerang Syndrome. Extremists on each side sustain the other, and the Israeli assault in Gaza is likely to create more terrorists in the long run.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes to share. I’m trying to figure out how to deal with one of the stupidest people I’ve ever met in my life, who is a recent hire at work. I don’t usually suffer fools gladly, but one must be polite at work even if you want to ask if she’s able to cross the street all by herself. (I’m not the only one who feels this way, by the way…) Any advice out there? Have a great day.
Bless their little hearts, a lot.
please don’t get banned t-bear. thank you for the link.
And where are those Israeli apologists now?
As TBear said Be nice to him/her and hope for the best. Right now jobs are so hard to come by we must try and help those who have jobs keep them and those who don’t have jobs get them. Maybe the person didn’t want the job they now have but had to take it just to get a job. Be charitable, understanding and have a BIG shot of booze when you get home!
in some ways this conflict reminds me of our war against afghanistan. yes, we were attacked, but instead of going after the people who did it, we used cluster bombs from 30 thousand feet against a poor and sometimes starving people. we did fake “humanitarian” acts (remember the food drops?) while blocking a day’s cease file for the annual polio vaccination. at the time i was seeing pictures of bleeding and dead children (internet foreign news, natch), and yet almost everyone i knew wanted that war and either didn’t care about the afghani people or saw what we did to them as an act of justified revenge.
it’s a lot easier to see the inhumanity of others than it is to see it in ourselves. but i hope we americans remember our own time of national insanity and blood lust with some humility as we rightly condemn what is being done in gaza now.
that is awesome advice!
Excellent advice, especially the last part, which will make the first part easier to bear!
Good morning. Lebanon is now firing missiles at Israel. I don’t think we’ve ever had a pres come in with such daunting problems (including FDR). I pray for Obama.
And, Marion, I agree with those above. Don’t do anything to jeopardize your job. You may get an ulcer, but you’ll still have a job.
Certainly not here: One of the best de-constructions of Israeli propaganda and “UNSPEAK” *
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worl…..-palestine
*”UNSPEAK” unspeak 1. n. mode of speech that persuades by stealth. E.g., climate change, war on terror, ethnic cleansing, road map. by Steven Poole ISBN 0-316-73100-5
I would add “final solution” to the definition given.
Genocide, apartheid, mass murder, annihilation, whatever way one would describe it it all aims to the same thing , the final solution.
It is the application of terror on the population, half of which are younger than 17, without any means for defending or protecting themselves, not to mention the women and the elderly and infirm, the Zionists are planting “wind seeds” that the Zionists will surely reap in the whirlwind yet to come. Hopefully that whirlwind will eliminate its source, once and for all, there are mindsets that must not be allowed to continue if civilization is to prosper, fascism is another that must be shown the ultimate obviation. For Zionism, its fate must be that of any lie, exposure and disavowal by all others.
Take her under your wing and smarten her up. No such thing as strangers, just friends you haven’t met yet.
I expect your forbearance is highly appreciated. Maybe the person is so stressed they can’t pour a glass of water. Maybe they do need help crossing the street.
The reason the petition is so sloppy? Probably because a fully accurate and clear petition costs money to build in lawyer hours. And, the campaign has been desperately fund raising for more cash recently, having blown through most of their existing money in the actual campaign. So, he’s trying to be an obstructionist on the cheap.
jacqrat…I think she borrowed the dress from Ann Coulter…
Listen to him whine
Boisterous nonsense he spews
Pointless twit you lose
Enjoy.
She gets them second hand from Coulter.
Thanks for the link, T-Bear. I guess there will soon be a report that Israeli bombs have burst that huge sewage lake at Beit Lehya (sp). The article states that would drown 10,000 Palestinians.
I wonder how Coleman’s “equal protection” claim is going to get past Scalia and his gangs Bush v. Gore decision that states that this decision is a one-time, GWB-only intervention. I am actually glad Coleman is trying the same tactic that Bush did so Scalia, Thomas and the other nitwit cons will have to at least face thier culpability in the destruction of America Bush has brought on.
Marion, I’ll tell you how I handled a similar situation years ago.
I’d been around quite a long time where I worked and it had fallen to me to train many of our new hires. One of them, Maggie, was a Latino who pretty well fit your description. She was very nervous and afraid she would make a mistake, which made the situation worse. Next, the ‘group’ shunned her. I noticed tears in her eyes which she tried to hide. She was never asked to go to break or lunch with anyone.
I got really angry one day and decided to change it. I began asking only her to go to break and lunch, and used those times to train her just in conversation. The ‘group’ could not look me in the eye. Day after day I kept it up. Maggie began to relax and consequently did better work.
Soon the other Latinos began inviting her for break and lunch. This all took a while but it worked out in the end.
Requires much self-discipline and patience; and I admit that some people are not worth the effort and some don’t deserve it.
I wish you all the best.
In the end, there will be no joy, only a greater sense of hatred.
