Gonna be in DC for the innauguration? FDL is going to be having a party on Monday, January 19 along with Netroots Nation, AmericaBlog, Blue Commonwealth, Congress Matters, Crooks & Liars, Fivethirtyeight.com, Frameshop, Jack & Jill Politics, Living Liberally and myDD.
The party will be from 7pm to midnight at the Clarendon Ballroom in Arlington and tickets are $90. I'm told there aren't a lot of tickets left and they expect to sell out today, so if you want to join us at this blogocentric celebration of the inauguration of Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States, you need to act now.
I'll be there, and so will Pach, Marcy, Lisa Derrick, and we hope many others.
Oh and Marcy Wheeler? Party animal.

And that’s my birthday too…
I won’t be able to make it to D.C., but I’ll be with you in spirit.
That would be in the neighborhood of Beer O’clock, Marcy.
Y’all have a good time.
I think that is actually 2 hours after beer O’Clock
I hope Pach has his camera and is going live I’m going to be having a pizza.
Well, I betcha that’ll be a fun time.
Work doesn’t permit and also I’m based in L.A., but to those who can make it, have a rip of a good time.
For Marcy Wheeler’s sake, let the Beamish flow long and freely!
Will Marcy live blog the event for those of us who are unable to attend? A live video stream would be nice too!
I’ll celebrate when he and his administration have restored the rule of law, prosecuted the criminals, and instituted universal health care. Until then, I’ll remain without fest. -g-
w00T!
Very cool!
Exactly.
who has tickets to the circus?
I’ve had my eye on that ad for a while, but I just don’t see how I can work out the logistics. My 17 year old announced at breakfast one morning in early December that she would like to go to the inauguration, so I decided to take her. The closest hotel I could find then was in Williamsburg. Finding a way into the city in time for the inauguration is turning into a major headache and expense. The plan right now is to book a car and driver for the day. We will have to leave Williamsburg at oh-dark-thirty to get to any sort of drop-off point in time for the long hike to the mall to see the swearing in on the jumbotrons they are installing.
where in the world would you find a car AND driver?
well this suxor, I already have tickets for a cruise with my friends, would have definately done this instead
*sulking*
Lapsed passport here, so I’ll just wish y’all a wonderful time. We’d throw a Thank God It’s Over party here too, except for us, it ain’t gonna be over by 19 January, I fear.
Great thing you are doing for her. She can tell her grandchildren about this many years from now. You are a thoughtful dad…..even if your feet get tired.
By emptying my wallet for a long time to come and hiring a limo. The limo owner in Williamsburg I’ve been talking to sounded pretty excited because he wants to go, too. This way he gets paid.
what ya need is a friend there, bud.
great exposure for your daughter. perfect time too in her life. there is no place on earth like dc. first hand is everything.
Stirling Newberry upstairs!
Liberals Push Back on Weak Stimulus Bill
(whimper)
I am very unlikely even to go to the inaugural party here in town. It is sponsored by the Young Democrats.
Neat story. I can’t wait for the update.
well, ya could dress up in your best and watch on tv. that’s what i am going ta do.
If rugby players eat their dead, they empty the keg first. Have a great time. I’ll keep loading bags at Whole Foods, so to speak, while watching immigration unenforcement in action at 15th and P.
Will there be any “special VIP guests” making any appearances?
You know, FDL favorite DC types like Al Wynn, Jay Rockefeller, or Short Ride Joe? Maybe if Howie put in a call to the transition office with a personal invitation, Rahm might show up?
Just a thought. Have fun, you all!
Shall I make a statement or go for understatement with the lavendar feather boa?
I’m so tempted. Will be giving a paper at Penn Friday, the 23rd. Any chance of liberal libations there that Friday?
You just tell me how a lavendar feather boa is an understatement!?
I’ll check my schedule!
January 19 (MLK Day) here in my area in Maine, we Democrats are getting together for a big ‘thank you’ party for all the volunteers. Should be fun!
Woooo, tough crowd. Would you even be a little festive if he made beer the official drink and chocolate the official food of his administration?
Maybe he could just ban war to get you in a festive mood.
I guess this means I’ll be showing some of the tattoos… and high heels too!
