The downside of term limits is that the bureaucracy ends up in complete control of the government… and completely unaccountable, because no elected official is around long enough to reign them in.

As for DiFi, isn’t there someone with a pile of money and space for a useless poltroon on their payroll who will take her off our hands?

Perhaps DiFi is worried about her own precious behind under a torture-adverse administration, with the potential for investigations of her complicity (although unlikely). Or DiFi was worried about fewer sweetheart deals for her husband’s business if she didn’t go along with the career CIA members’ wishes.

“Conflict of interest” is something that the millionaire’s club laughs at as only being applicable to the little people.

The “Gliewitz Incident” was made known to the world via war crimes trials. In the absence of war crimes trials the world might never have known the breath of deception perpetrated on the German people by Hitler and his fascist scum. Today we know “”fascsist”" in the White House enabled by powerful media outlets fabricated/misrepresented facts to the American people and world to justify the invasion of <strike>Poland</strike> Iraq to protect the <strike>German</strike> American homeland from <strike>Polish</strike> Iraqi terrorist who allegedly aided and attacked the <strike>Gliewitz radio installation.</strike> Twin Towers. Funny how history repeats… errrrrrrr

Saddam was not involved with 911 just as the Poles never attacked Germany! Yet America fails to hold our own leaders responsible for a “big lie” to justify stealing resources of another nation. War Crimes! Jefferson is likely vomiting in his grave! Hold the war criminals and their enablers accountable!

After 911 Bushco took a page out of the Nazi’s fascist Handbook. Everyone knows it! GO read history DIFI, Jay and Jane as you’ll eviscerate the checks and balances of the 4th amendment as forewarned by Jefferson. Now you pay the price. Meanwhile Bushco is trying to revise the facts leading up to “The Iraq Oil Plot.” So with a green light from Washington the oppressed have become the oppressors via a disproportionate response killing civilians in the name of self defense while dropping bombs on UN schools in Gaza even when the IAF had been given the GPS coordinates for UN schools. Go figure… the hole thing is disgusting. I’m sure the people of Gaza are experiencing the same pain as did the Pole of Warsaw! Isolated, economically depressed deprived of dignity, treated as second class citizens where they have no rights… when the oppressed becomes the oppressor………….

Obama has told Fienstein: “You need oversight”
I have been delighted about this appointment from the first. Now somebody representing me (even if he is a career politician) is going to take better measure of the “crown jewels”. Democratic opposition from Fienstein and Rockefeller is self-serving; they were compliant about torture. This is a moral issue, not a political one. It is an issue to sacrifice for. They were immoral to not scream bloody murder (a sealed letter of concern doesn’t cut it), and I don’t care if the reason was fear. America needed heros. America needs heros and I want governance…whistleblowers and new people on the inside with institutional memory like Panetta to put 2 & 2 together.
When are those two senate terms up? (If I had their history, I’d not run again. But then I hope I wouldn’t have made their intel choices in the last eight years.) Knowing what they know I can imagine they do want to keep it in the family, even if they are the only the begrudged distant aunt and uncle. Lots of “could ‘ya, would ‘ya, should ‘yas” rolling around around in their heads.
I listened to Rep. Rush Holt’s endorsment. That’s what I expect to here from entrenched elected representatives who want me to believe they couldn’t do anything during the Cheney/Bush national nightmare.

Thanks for the introduction (or as Sarah Palin might say, “Thanks, but no thanks”). The general concensus seems to be — if Feinstein & Rockefeller are opposed, it’s a good thing (see, ferinstance, Glenn Greenwald, Josh Marshall & Steve Benen).

It seems to me Obama is sneaking back onto the correct track — with Panetta at the CIA and Johnsen at OLC I’m seeing the “no more torture” presidency come to life.
