I would love it, but not if it’s going to compromise anything for you. If there are crumbs you can leave me that won’t get you in hot water, e-mail me at ReddHedd AT firedoglake DOT com. Thanks!

hey CHS –

I’m in the odd position of wondering just how much to spill. I work for a large Federal agency, in IT, and we’ve been fighting much of the implementation of the National Cyber Security Initiative for the last year. Let me put it in the shortest possible form: the proposed solution will cost the taxpayers a huge amount of money, seriously compromise their privacy in a number of protected areas (including access to information protected by HIPPA), and not provide the “security” from cyber attack and intrusion that’s alleged to be developed.

Not to pull down the tin foil hat too far on my head, the Chairman of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee is — wait for it — Senator Joseph Lieberman (I-CT). Oh yes, one more reason to strip him of his chairmanship.

I can email you if you want more information, and bread crumbs.

The first time I was in SoCa where I used my debit card to buy groceries and a short time later someone used my debit card to buy $900 of stuff at walmart……. thankfully BofA knows I never shop at walmart and never purchase large items on my debit card AND I was and had been going to SoCa frequently……. so how did they get my pin?

When I think of it there was a lady sitting on a bench near the BofA ATM at the airport when I took out cash…… Did she have some kind of reader, camera or what?
OR
Was it someone at the SoCa grocery store?

I wouldn’t bother….there are a bazillion of those “phishes” — Some of them even appear to come from an entity you may interact with, such as your bank or credit union, PayPal or eBay, or your e-mail service provider. I work at a university, and those things also are sent masquerading as communications from the IT organization. A reputable establishment won’t ever ask for personal info via e-mail. Just delete and ignore them.
