Two of al-Zeidi’s lawyers said they hoped the reduced charges, which carry a maximum sentence of three years, would allow al-Zeidi to be released on bail. No date was set for the appellate court ruling.

“There is a difference between assault and insult; al-Zeidi wanted to express his objection to the occupation. So the case is within the context of an insult and not an intention to kill,” his lawyer Diaa al-Saadi told the AP.

Heh, I had that figured out. Just got off the phone with the vet. Lab work is great all the way around. She’s FIV positive but we knew that when I first caught her. Unless something else happens he’ll assume it’s Horner’s Syndrome and will right itself in the next week to 10 days. Prolly a result of a scrape with Feurae, pinched nerve kinda thing. It’s not as noticeable as it was yesterday. I’ll gladly take that.

If logic prevails it was a bad move but then logic doesn’t seem to prevail.
If the first charge was assault with the attempt to kill or injure it is a ludicrous charge. If he was attempting to cause harm by tossing shoes he was obviously insane. An insult however is a slam dunk.

Anybody who has paid attention to history, not only of the ME, knew that when we pulled out there would be a violent power struggle. The anti-war groups knew it when the administration and its puppet media started beating the war drums. The longer we stay in either country all we’re doing is delaying the inevitable.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Obama handles the finances. We can’t continue to borrow to fight 2 wars. I think the first thing he might try is to tell the War Dept that they’re gonna have to sacrifice their 25th century war toy R & D to pay help for their 19th century war.
