what’s on my mind tonight is the mega sinus infection that’s keeping me home from my 2nd shift job tonight. it wasn’t the sinus infection as much as the, ummm, poor reaction shall we say, to the antibiotics keeping me home. I’m being switched to a different class of drugs tomorrow, so i get to play tonight, hurrah!

It was gotten earlier, but yours overtook it. I will fix it now.

I’ve never heard of it. Now that you mention it.. I don’t think I have ever considered making any sort of meat pie.

Probably the only meat pie I have eaten is Shepherd’s Pie, at an Irish pub on St. Patrick’s Day.

Foreclosure is on my mind. Got a letter from the bank today. We have maybe four months to live in the house. We haven’t made a house payment in five months. We have only had the money for utilities, food and meds. I was depressed about but a person just cannot sustain that level of funkyness. How does a person find a place to live after this is on your credit?

Get help..call congress critter if you want to keep the place. Negotiate with lender of record…the refi program is coming next year. Figure what you will have to pay for rent and offer that much as good faith. Call the governors office. Contact legal aid. Claim fraud on the loan. Get the paper in it.

No money for a lawyer or rent either. I have been freelancing doing website design but the people I am working for pay terribly. If they don’t get paid then I don’t get paid. They told me recently that one of my clients decided he didn’t like the site and that I wasn’t going to get paid for it. I called the guy and he told me it was the “backend” work he didn’t like. The employer did the backend work and wants me to take the fall for his lack of ability. I keep the job cause it is the only one I can find right now. fuckery. Between the healthcare issue, Katrina and the economy I consider myself a person who totally understands Rev. Wright.

I usually try to bake some fun recipes this time of year.. but I just can’t find the inspiration.. and I have more than enough energy.

Man, I haven’t had whole milk in a long time, a coon’s age…I accidently bought skim a couple of weeks ago, and didn’t even realize it until a family member pointed it out.
I loved my licorice spice tea until they stopped selling it. Oh, well. Moved on to some other tamer types and actually carry some in my purse for if I’m out at a restaurant or something.
I drink 1 or 2 sometimes cups of coffee first thing in the morning, but never after that. Old ladies like me have to be careful. :)

4 recruiter suicides lead to Army probe

Sgt. 1st Class Patrick Henderson, a strapping Iraq combat veteran, spent the last, miserable months of his life as an Army recruiter, cold-calling dozens of people a day from his strip-mall office and sitting in strangers’ living rooms, trying to sign up their sons and daughters for an unpopular war.

He put in 13-hour days, six days a week, often encountering abuse from young people or their parents. When he and other recruiters would gripe about the pressure to meet their quotas, their superiors would snarl that they ought to be grateful they were not in Iraq, according to his widow.

Less than a year into the job, Henderson — afflicted by flashbacks and sleeplessness after his tour of battle in Iraq — went into his backyard shed, slid the chain lock in place, and hanged himself with a dog chain.

He became, at age 35, the fourth member of the Army’s Houston Recruiting Battalion to commit suicide in the past three years — something Henderson’s widow and others blame on the psychological scars of combat, combined with the pressure-cooker job of trying to sell the war.

I had already consumed many beverages prior… That was the coffin nail…! ;-)

Unit to reprise role in Iraq troop surge

The first troops for last year’s U.S. “surge” in Iraq came from the Fort Bragg-based 82nd Airborne Division, and now the storied unit is among the first to be tapped for a similar buildup in Afghanistan next year.
The Pentagon announced Monday that the 2,800 soldiers of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade and their helicopters would be sent there this spring.
The news came just two days after the nation’s highest-ranking military officer said that the United States may nearly double the number of troops in Afghanistan by the middle of next year. Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said in a news conference in Kabul that an additional 30,000 troops could be sent to boost forces there.

Talk now of 20k 30k more troops in Afghanistan.. even if many are from iraq.. I don’t know where they are coming from.. Most folks deployed have been for a long time.

What happens to them then? Does the unit get deactivated? Do they sit around waiting to get called up for another tour? Do they get paid?

Down-and-outs and hard up pensioners in Milan will enjoy a rare Christmas treat this year: choice beluga caviar confiscated from traffickers.

Italian police seized over 40 kg (88 lb) of the delicacy, worth some 400,000 euros ($558,300), from two men who last month smuggled it into the country from Poland for sale in the shops of Milan and the rest of the wealthy Lombardy region.

The head of the local forest police who carried out the raid kept the bounty in barrack fridges for several weeks, but realized it would soon go bad.

“Tests showed us the food was still perfectly OK to eat but it couldn’t be stored much longer, so we decided to give it to the poor,” Juri Mantegazza told Milan daily Corriere della Sera.

A small amount of the sturgeons’ eggs have been kept for further analysis while the rest has been sent to voluntary associations, charity kitchens and old people’s homes.

“Everything that comes our way is very welcome, even though most of our guests don’t even know what those little black balls are,” said Virginio Colmega, a priest who helps run the House of Charity in Milan.
