If this was the Nazi era and I was of Jewish descent and a president elect chose a vocal anti Jewish Nazi sympathizer to participate in his inaguration; how should I feel. Obama’s lack of sensitivity and outright pandering with overtures to conservative extremists only says to the gay community that Obama tolerates their claims of equating gay men and women with pedofiles and gay marriage rights as a slippery slope to beastiality. Quiet desperation, stunned into a rage of betrayal is how the gay community finds itself. First Obama’s betrayal on FISA, then his Pelosi/Reid like capitulation to Lieberman coupled with his continuation of obvious right of center choices for his cabinet and the choice of this bigot homophobe to participate in his inaguration; only demonstrates what many in the gay community feared all along, Obama is showing his true Christian Black Homophobe roots.
This president is not a friend of the gay community. His selection of Rick Warren is tantamount to condoning racism.

Hell, why not bypass all the worthy people of the cloth who have fought and prayed for justice all their lives and instead, choose a gay bashing woman hater to give the invocation? If that don’t promote unity, I don’t know what does. And no, I won’t watch the inauguration. When it’s on, I’ll throw a couple of shoes at the damn wall. ‘These social issues’ indeed. As if the humanity and worth of most of the people on this earth were small beans. Screw Ricky and his ilk and screw Obama for sticking this creep in our faces.

I have been battling the far right for months on end about their divisive views, and now I see the far left isn’t much better. If y’all can’t see that every aspect of our country must be represented, then I just give up. This just shows how irrational both extremes can be. By the way, Rick Warren is nowhere close to the White Supremacist groups. Believe it or not, you have a good ways to go to be that vicious. Since Obama has people on both sides angry at him, I guess he’s doing a good job at getting a little of everybody represented. Y’all have fun slinging the venom. I won’t be visiting this site again. I’m tired of fighting…it’s time to reconcile.

Warren has different beliefs then you and you from him. You don’t agree, then fine, but to demonize him is wrong. The extreme conservatives, whatever their term is, could demonize liberals as murderers, social agnostics, as well as anarchists.”

what a crock of shit. warren doesn’t simply have different beliefs than other people, he actively worked to have people’s rights taken away from them.

It is great to see all the outpouring of outrage over Obama choosing Rick Warren. In what I work on, public lands grazing and other environmental issues in the West, the grassroots and progressives really got shafted by Obama and his cowboy-hatted new Interior Secretary pick, Ken Salazar. We are aghast at how Obama could pick someone as polarizing among environmentalists as Salazar, and whose career exemplifies in many ways the environmental devastation of the Bush years - Big Rancher, killing prairie dogs, gutting the ESA. It is deeply depressing. If you are interested, here is a Link to a western public lands and wildlife site where everyone is similarly reeling over the Boot Kick Obama has given us. The symbolism of that over-sized Cowboy Hat Salazar was dressed in at the press conference is as disgusting to grassroots activists on western public lands issues as are Warren’s statements about Gays, Iraq, etc. Obama passed over a true progressive, who had great support from Native Americans, over 150 grassroots groups,and instead chose a Big Hatted rancher enabler of Alberto Gonzalez.
