Heh, the plot thickens.

Sorry for repeating the entire report, but it seems puzzling and even self-contradictory & maybe someone can help me figure it out.

(CNN) — Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. has served as an informant to the U.S. attorney’s office in Illinois, two sources close to Jackson tell CNN.

Jackson has served as an informant for more than a decade and has relayed information relating to embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich since 2006, the sources said.

Jackson has not served as an informant in the current investigation into Blagojevich

So Jackson has been an informant to the USAs office for a decade? Why would a pol do that? Doesn’t that make him persona non grata in all the places he must frequent to do his job? Once he’s outed, of course, and he was bound to be. At that point his career is over, isn’t it?

Then it sez he’s been ratting on Blago since 06, but not on the current investigation into Blago. WTF?

“Stop Snitching,” is the rule in many parts of JJ’s district. I don’t think it will cripple him, but imvho, this isn’t exactly win-win.

According to CNN when Blago was running first time for gov., he hit JJJ up for 25K. JJJs wife had been considered a shoo in for a job w/ State Lottery. JJJ did not give $.
After election JJJ’s wife did not get job and Blago told JJJ that she didn’t get job because he didn’t ante up.

C’mon, retaining a lawyer is not indicative of guilt or innocence. And besides, if you were anywhere near a Fitz investigation, wouldn’t you be lawyering pretty damn fast?

What this says to me is that either the USA’s office had someone else inside, and Jackson’s activities may have outed him; it is also possible that Jackson may have declined in this case, due to the proximity of the impending Senate appointment. Jackson may also have decided to double-cross the USA’s office, again in view of the Senate appointment. It’ll be interesting to see.

That is very interesting & helps to explain. But that would have been after 2002, which is less than a decade ago, meaning that JJJ was a snitch long before that.

wtf??? JJJ has very dirty hands?? and a snitch too? wow!!! exactly what does one have to do to get ahead in chi politics? tho i think i know a little of it…..

Please see here for a discussion on what “lawyers up” (in any of its tenses) actually means – which is different than the meaning you ascribe to it. And the fact that the HuffPo and others misuse the term doesn’t make it right.

And, hiring counsel (quickly or slowly) does not imply you have anything to hide. Neither does “lawyering up” in its proper meaning. Plenty of good reason for innocent people not to talk/cooperate with authorities.
