Go Shuster:

MSNBC is replacing one David with another on its 6 p.m. program, “1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.”

The cable news channel, owned by NBC Universal, is expected to announce Monday that David Shuster, a Washington correspondent, will succeed David Gregory on the political program, people with knowledge of the move said Sunday night.

Shuster consistently did the best TV reporting on the Libby trial and has been doing great coverage of the auto industry bridge loan.  He was one of the first to call the Plantation Caucus senators out for union busting and trying to undermine Detroit automakers for the benefit of foriegn manufacturers who had factories in their home states.

The Shuster/Olbermann/Maddow lineup on MSNBC will be a potent one. Great news.

Meanwhile, Chris Matthews still seems to be contemplating a Senate run against Arlen Specter.  I don’t quite know what he’s thinking — 11 years of Hardball, with no filter between brain and mouth, will be an oppo researcher’s dream come true.

It’s kind of like watching an armadillo wander out in the middle of the road and decide it’s a good time for a nap.
