MCFADDEN: Is it literally true, the Bible?

BUSH: You know. Probably not.

Heretic!

Let’s have a few dissenting views from a few of George W. Bush’s biggest supporters.

James Dobson:

I read the Bible literally.

Joel Osteen:

KING: You believe in the Bible literally?

OSTEEN: I do, I do.

KING: Noah had an ark and Adam and Eve?

OSTEEN: I do. I do. I believe that. I believe it all.

Rick Warren:

If an evangelical really believes that the Bible is literal–in other word in Psalm 139 God says ‘I formed you in your mother’s womb and before you were born I planned every day of your life,’ if they believe that’s literally true, then they can’t just walk away from that.

It all comes crashing down, doesn’t it? What’s next, Bush telling us evolution might be okay too?

I think the creation of the world is so mysterious it requires something as large as an almighty, and I don’t think it’s incompatible with the scientific proof that there is evolution.

And I think the people who thought Bush was "one of them" all these years have been played.
