On Fox’s Chicago radio station the suggestion is being made that Blagojevich called Rahm. Assuming that’s true, the question is did Rahm call Fitzgerald and let him know? Sure hope so, for Rahm’s sake.

Wow! The plot thickens.
Mornin’ Ian,
EPU’d
ps – getting all giddy knowing EW, CHS, and lhp are tele-hunkered down somewhere poring over the docs
well i thought it was a “given” that Rahm’s name would come up here eventually.
and sooner rather than later…..
i just automatically assumed………
as in SHORT JUMP!
is the FBI affadavit public?
Rahm is a snake but he isn’t stupid. If he received a call from Blago, he would have had to have known that there was a reasonably good chance that there was a tap and would have acted accordingly.
Faux’s spin
“The charges also relate to allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with previously convicted defendants and Obama associates Antonin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others to arrange financial benefits in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.”
Obama associates?
WaPo says:
In terms of Blagojevich’s arrest on national politics, remember that House
Blagojevich, although a governor, spent six years in the House and, as a result, has ties to a number of sitting members. Expect House Republicans to use his arrest as a cudgel against their Democratic colleagues over the coming weeks.
Ian, I’m streaming the Fox live stream out of Chicago and they keep mentioning Rahm but aren’t clear whether or not he contacted the Feds.
Rahm also holds Rod’s Congressional seat.
Pat Fitz is my hero.
That was a mess. Try again:
The indictment says they started tapping Blago’s phone in October. They didn’t need Rahm to turn them in; they had all of the conversations on tape. They had a warrant, so I’m sure every conceivable communications mode was covered.
My question comes the other direction. At what point during his “security briefings” either as candidate or President-elect, was Obama told Blago’s phones were tapped?
yep. sorry to have to link Faux:

Wiretaps? Where have I heard that word before?
Perhaps it was in the news OVER 5,000 TIMES IN THE PAST EFFIN DECADE, YOU MORON!
He’s going to beat this rap with an insanity defense.
NOBODY can be this fucking stupid, and sane.
NOBODY.
EPU’ed
I was just googling to confirm but the Obama campaign was aware of a Blago problem even at the time of the Democratic National Convention. I think Blago showed up for part of it but was not allowed to address the convention. That is pretty surprising given that he was the Governor of Obama’s home state.
AP/HuffPo -
sounding more and more like this first string dumbass tried to shake Rahm/Transition down and was rebuffed
What’s with the October 28 immediate release date for the press release?
thanks for the links!
pres carter wasn’t permitted to speak at dnc either.
Who is Candidate 5? Hope it’s not Jackson.
gotta go, bbl.
don’t forget Fitz presser in 21 minutes
don’t forget to set your tivo’s for Jane w/Shuster 6pm EST
I think I hear the sound of little scurrying footsteps in state houses all across the country.
That gives me the most wonderful picture of his eyes widening and mouth dropping open when he realizes what Blago is saying to him.
Yeah, I guess he could have tipped the feds off.
when it comes to gov corruption, it’s too bad we don’t have 50 fitzes
http://www.myfoxchicagolive.com the live stream is saying that the governor can appoint a commision or hand off the appointment of the Senator to some one else.
Could have been Rahm, alright.
OT but in other corruption matters: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28140563/. Wide Stance is still guilty, apparently.
heh. Larry Craig lost his appeal.
He’s now *officially* a pervert?
As I recall it was for a very specific and fresh reason, too …
I gotta run for a while, too.
Back later, I hope…
beverage of choice?
hehe. I’m still too disgusted. Airport bathrooms are.. well.. so. you know. Kinda like Chicago municipal offices. Same smell. ;-P
Christy has a new post up top: “Blago Indictment: Let’s Play A Little “Public Official X” Bingo!”
Yes, and that was the only stain I perceived. Would that we could have had a second Carter term in our recent history!
Did Rahm tip Fitzgerald? According to the Feds, yes.
It would be sweet if Blago took Rahm down with him.

Multiple orgasms at the rightie blogs courtesy of this Illinois guv-ner whose name I could not have told you before today. (Actually, I STILL can’t.) Yesterday, I might’ve shrugged and apologized and explained that I’m from the South. Today…not so much. L–O–L.
Me–I like it when ANY frickin’ politician, the higher up the better, takes a killer fall like this. It should happen every day.

And if this gives Barack Obama a large headache, well, he’s given us some lately, too. Big ones (Robert Gates). Incurable ones (the 2008 vote is over). Ones that won’t go away until 2012, if then (Lieberman). And more. MUCH more.
Those around Obama, who were probably told about this investigation some time ago (since he was a senator from that state), probably couldn’t even tell Blagojevic to shut his mouth. Or, perhaps better yet, they chose to let him keep on talking.
Stupidifying!
