His lawyer says that Blago has no intention of resigning. Incredibly, the governor who tried to sell a US Senate seat to the highest bidder…
…believes he didn’t do anything wrong and asks Illinoisans to have faith in him, Sorosky said.
[emphasis mine]
I can only assume that this is meant to be his starting position for the plea/flip negotiation to come.
Or he’s really self delusional. I could go either way.

Please resign and then walk to the jailhouse please. The End.
“…believes he didn’t do anything wrong”
hahahahahahahahahaha!
Nice hair. Or is that road kill? Hard to tell.
Blago has only one chit left: His Office.
And as evidenced, he won’t let that go cheaply.
Because once he resigns, he’s ugly, he’s stupid, he’s broke and nobody likes him.
just heard the reenactment of selected wiretap transcripts on Rachel…
who would Blago flip on?
who is a bigger fish than the governor?
don’t want to go there…
Haven’t seen anything like it since “Grease.”
He must think it ‘cool’.
Quote Hugh from earlier
Anyone who has seen the Simpsons Halloween vignette “Hell Toupee” realizes that the roots from Blagojevich’s hair have penetrated his brain and are controlling his actions. Of course, there are no Simpsons clips on youtube. Here is a link to the a video with dubbed German.
Yup, yup and yup
Needed repeating
Wow. With ethics like that he could become a Republican.
My guess is that the hair is covering a big letter “L” on Todd’s forehead. If only we’d known, we never would have voted for him.
I bet Blago has cash stashed under that hairpiece.
I think the Republican Party offers an “honorary” affiliation for corrupt Democrats…
If there is any take-away from this it is that the Republican Party does not have the corner on stupid self-serving politicians… They just completed a long stand on the national stage, but here in Illinois we have a long-standing tradition of non-partisan corruption.
Really long.
Too funny! Thanks Mack, I missed Hugh’s comment.
I dunno, I wouldn’t go poking around in there, he might have contracted hairpiece simplex.
;) I’m putting you up there with Punaise. It’s rarified, you need an O2 mask…
The mayor.
Jane is upstairs.
Yep. Daley is the most powerful man in Illinois and runs the Chicago Machine. Plenty of hints over the years that his hands aren’t clean, but he has been clever enough to keep anything hidden from sight.
Gracias, high praise indeed.
I have always found Chicago politics so interesting. Like no other place I know.
Pretty much like anywhere in the rural south really. When I moved there from Oklahoma, it made perfect sense.
I love his wife’s updated (hacked) website:

As a lifelong resident of Illinois, it doesn’t surprise me that Blago has been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. The bad news is that through his allegedly illegal efforts, the citizens of Illinois may need to pay for a special election in order to get a Senator to replace the President-elect.
Ms Blago is the daughter of (notoriously corrupt) Chicago alderman Richard Mell. It is the family business.
Blagojevich better get ready for some Pollock jokes.
He’s just called open season on himself.
Gov. Blagojevich began his second term as the 40th Governor of Illinois in January 2007, with a top priority of access to quality healthcare for everyone in Illinois. He has proposed a historic, comprehensive plan to give all Illinoisans access to affordable, quality health coverage. While his “All Kids” plan extended coverage to all Illinois children, approximately 1.4 million Illinois adults are uninsured. Rod’s plan will provide affordable coverage to the uninsured and will help many middle-income families and small businesses with health insurance to save thousands a year on healthcare costs.
Rod is also a strong advocate for safe and affordable prescription drug medication, working to give Americans access to safe and affordable prescription drugs from Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland. Gov. Blagojevich created the Illinois Cares Rx Program to make sure no seniors fell through the gap when the new Medicare drug benefit went into effect in 2006. His new “wrap around coverage” program helps to cover Medicare’s increased costs for Illinois seniors and persons with disabilities.
The Governor is committed to improving Illinois education. During his first term, Rod dedicated $3.8 billion of new funding to Illinois schools. This represents more new money invested in education than 43 other states in the nation and more than any Illinois administration in one term. His budget from last year funds new initiatives, including universal preschool, a program to reduce class sizes in kindergarten through 3rd grade, and grants for families struggling to afford college.
Prior to governorship, Rod was a Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, prosecuting domestic abuse cases and felony weapons charges. This made him a strong advocate for tougher sentencing laws when he was elected to the General Assembly in 1992.
In 1996, Rod was elected to represent Illinois’ 5th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. While a congressman, he proved himself strong on education, securing funding for after-school tutoring programs. He led in the fight to establish a Patients’ Bill of Rights, assuring access to mammograms and requiring higher care standards at nursing homes.
I voted for this bastard back in 2002. I feel so dirty.
Ugh.
correction:
Serb jokes
Blago – The Democratic Party’s version of Mitt Romney.
It’s pretty obvious Blago is wearing magic underwear which protects him from doing anything wrong.
