Far be it from any of us to defend the rights of those with poor taste, but…well, this just sums it all up.
A Congressional oversight panel plans to ask the National Security Agency to start an investigation into new evidence that the agency illegally wiretapped a Muslim scholar in Northern Virginia and concealed the eavesdropping during a 2005 trial in which the scholar was convicted on terrorism charges…
Mr. Timimi’s lawyers maintain that the N.S.A., without acquiring court-approved warrants, used the eavesdropping operation approved by President Bush weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks to wiretap his communications, and that the interceptions might include evidence that would point to his innocence in what they regard as a free-speech case. They charge that the government has intentionally withheld that material despite repeated requests.
Apparently, what we have is evidence of bad taste:
During Mr. Timimi’s trial, prosecutors presented evidence that in a phone conversation… Mr. Timimi had celebrated the 2003 destruction of the space shuttle Columbia.
Um…what?
This was evidence used to support a conviction and a term of life-imprisonment? Does this mean we can convict Bush on the "No WMDs over here" joke?

Poor Taste?
The only reason the “no WMDs” joke got a laugh out of that crowd is that everyone in that room knew for a fact that there were never any to begin with. Lying your way into an illegal invasion of a sovereign nation on the premise that you own prior false flag operation was the other cause for action – only to have the costs of the entire operation bankrupt your country – is by definition, MURDER & TREASON.
Welcome to the “Great Bush/Cheney Depression”
Brought to you by the exact same criminals who brought you 9/11.
Plunger you mention the economy which is in Shock Doctrine as Russia in the 90s and The Horn of S.A.
Look closely…it starts with a major catastrophe according to Naomi Klein…that event is/was used to invade a sovereign nation a war crime, then the loss of public freeedoms and quasi martial law with wiretapping US citizens without warrants, the Blackwater threat, the combined State and Federal law apparatus agaist peaceful demonstrators to send a messegae to Americans. The state of fear with security warnings using the amber and red warnings created an atmosphere of fear.
We are in shock doctrine as the rule of law has been overridden by political power of the Bushco administration.
The WMD excuse was to get our troops as close to central asia as possible to get control of the largest undeveloped oil and gas and secure pipeline routes to it.
Shock Doctrine eliminates all publically own assets and privatizes them. The $8 Trillion transfer of federal funds to private banks, insurance companies and possibly Auto industry is part of privatization that occurred in the above mentioned and other areas which after public poverty occurred was rejected.
Mlitary contractors have drained a large porton of the defense budget and transferred that capital to the private sector. They attempted to do the same with Medicare and Social Security.
The same policies are being implemented ins tate and local government with a profit surcharge added as a penalty as public services are increased in cost.
Bushco is working hard and fast to drain the US Treasury with Bernanke and Paulson running interference for the White House. Obama is twisting arms for them in congress as well.
Their plan is to take down the global economy and take what is remaining.
Look at your president.
Good morning, pups. As if Monday weren’t bad enough on its own, Paul Krugman is off today. This leaves us with that gibbering moron Kristol and Roger Cohen. Wrong Way Billy has taken up his crayons and scribbled “Small Isn’t Beautiful.” He loftily opines that given recent history, the right should think twice before charging into battle against Barack Obama under the banner of “small-government conservatism.” His piece does have, however, one of the most unintentionally funny lines I’ve ever read. He actually wrote “And Reagan’s record as governor and president wasn’t a particularly government-slashing one.” I wonder if he’s doing a segue into comedy? Mr. Cohen, on the other hand, waxes all Proustian in “Paris vs. Havana.” He is writing from Paris and says what Havana has been able to preserve in its crumbling architecture, thanks to socialist economic disaster, is that very pungent texture Paris has lost to modernity. Among the things he gets elegaic about are “the garlic whiff of the early-morning Metro,” “the bad teeth,” and “the seat-less toilets on the stairs.” Whatever floats your boat, I guess…
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. I’m in rather a cranky mood today, so I may call in and tell the managers of the salt mines that I’m taking a mental health day. Have a grand Monday.
I have never seen a T-shirt “TGIM” – (Thank doG It’s Monday)
Have extra care if there is a 13 involved too, they don’t tell you about that in the myths. ;-)
Blackwater guards to surrender to prosecutors in Utah.
ersatz edit:
Hey, Marion……
Timothy Egan (iirc) had an editorial up earlier this morning (which I can’t now find) which would bring a smile to your face. He took to task publishing firms that are going to print tripe from joe the plumber and palin. Since you’re so much more familiar with the site, hopefully you can find it.
Am now just catching the rerun of Lamb’s Q&A with Donna Edwards yesterday……….this woman is so far past impressive you couldn’t get there from here! She is gonna be soooooooo good for us. :-))
Thanks, Loo Hoo, for those photos. They have to be real, those scenes could not have been photoshopped.
As for Ms. Laura: I don’t think she likes being the prez’s wife but she likes being known as First Lady. I’m about 14 years older than GWB and that was the era of The Stepford Wife (I utterly failed at that, thank heavens!) She is the ultimate enabler. Look at her in those 2 photos with that pasted on smile even at such a shameful event as is pictured. The 2 are equally pitiful.
GWB: Study of a Lifetime of Destruction (a book someone should write)
I saw that too. VERY impressive!
I feel bad for Jenna, though. Why did twin Barbara always steal the spotlight?
Marion -
Here’s the Egan piece mentioned earlier – it’s a great read:

Here’s a link to Egan’s op-ed piece. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12…..7egan.html Typing without a clue
Didya like it?
Impressive,eh? I’ve posted these before..scroll through them and see Jena’s expression at the 8th picture. The upside down flag he is holding is impressive, too! No, these are not fake. As per usual, they were shown all over the world at the time; MSM in the US didn’t seem to think they were important. There are others, but these are the best to illustrate Mr. off the wagon.
Barbara must be the ’smarter’ twin. We haven’t seen her with daddy since her wedding, have we?
Yes, He especially this part I know: publishers say they print garbage so that real literature, which seldom makes any money, can find its way into print. True, to a point. But some of them print garbage so they can buy more garbage.
Whoops, the he should not be there. When I was in my early teens, my mom discovered a Romance magazine in my sister’s and my bedroom. She made me read a few paragraphs out loud. That will cure anyone of reading the garbage, imo.
I forgot the link…

Jenna got married..the article I read with the pictures called Barbara..Jenna. Not too aware of which twin is which, obviously.
Thank you for the diary, Attaturk. I opened the DIGG and posted a comment there.
533,000 workers lost their jobs in Nov. (1/2 million in one month!). And GM announced shortly after their last visit to Congress that they will lay off 4600 workers. We will see lots more of this in days ahead. Obama will need to organize a new agency devoted to hunger and housing for the homeless. I hope he does.
Help us.
Thanks, I think.
You made my day. Great essay.
I wants to be a riter to
if’n jo da pummer can bes a riter so cants I
A+
So cans *anyone*, darlin’. *g*
‘Tho’ it is rather a hoot that joe and sarah can get contracts but no publishers seem to want bushie.
Morning All
So joe and Sarah are going to be published

Marion always links to the op-ed on the NYTimes. Today was Kristol. Although I refuse to read Kristol, I did link to his comments. It’s doubtful that Kristol would take the time to read different views than his own.
Morning everyone. My day’s not starting out well either. Lost an ebay auction in the middle of the night. An art piece that I thought my son would like for his new apartment. Oh, well…..Ian would be happy that I’m not spending my money friviously.
As I’ve mentioned before, Mr.Solai manages a Chevy dealership. Who knows what our future holds (with or without the bailout).
Swim’s up.
It’s good. Even better, it replaces the Modo[r].
Yeh, that thought hit me as well. Booyah for decent replacements!
Satann Coulter gets published too. She even has a new book coming out. Wonder what she does to show her gratitude to the reichwingnut groups that buy her books in bulk to keep her in the lifestyle she’s become accustomed to.
Loo Hoo, I had twins born 1960, boy and girl. One was dominant from day one. Both were very intelligent and have become moderately successful. The personality traits are still there. I don’t know if this is the case with twins statistically.
The twin shown next to GWB at the Olympics looks very somber as she watches Bush. All the wanna-bes around him are laughing, the twin is not even smiling. Looks like she has deep thoughts about her Dad.
SD, I answered you about the flue – too late. Which key did you order? I wanted one that sounded like the background flutist at the site but none offered did that. I’m still considering.
The quoted article says Bush used the eavesdropping operation approved weeks after September 11.
The right-wing controlled media has to be called out on this stuff; Bush’s criminal, unconstitutional misuse of the telecoms and the NSA was in effect months before September 11th. Just as Condi is trying to revise history with regard to WMDs and their stated casus belli and Bush is peddling his lies about wishing the intelligence had been better (what then was the purpose of establishing Doug Feith’s Nazi-inspired Office of Special Plans where, btw, Carney D-PA, worked?), we cannot acquiesce in their lies which will taint history.
It’s going to be difficult enough to get a written record of the past 28 years of history, we can’t let the media collaborate with the liars.
There is. It’s known as blogging.
