Jeb is “thinking” about running in 2010. St Pete Times reichwing flack political editor Adam Smith has an article today touting Jeb. The comments accompanying the article will do nothing to dampen Smith’s flackiness.

Can the new congress pass a law banning anyone with the name of Bush from ever again serving in the Fed govt. or will this take a constitutional amendment? *g*

Jeb needs something to do and the Bush family needs to rebuild their image. However, doing good with all the plunder they have gathered during the Decider’s reign is never part of their thought process.

Obama’s birth certificate again? Well, politics would be a lot less fun without the nutcases running around the fringes. Smells more like nutcase ego than anything else.

Seems like the same type of minds (?) are at work promoting this questioning of Obama’s birth certificate and evolutionary theory.

The sad thing is that some of the tinfoilers once were sane. I think that the underlying issue is that they were ignored and marginalized for so long — and/or thought that they could make a living doing New Media without a financial angel backing them — that they snapped.

My boss is working on his tinfoil hat. Whenever I bring up something concrete about politics he jumps to Drudge for a snappy comeback. Yesterday when I told him Krugman was here, without telling him which blog cuz we don’t want him here, trust me, he was all blubbering. First time in over 20 years I’ve been able to shut him up.

One of the Franken volunteers has this to say in the FiveThirtyEight comments section:

MNLatteLiberal said…

@ ABowers,
Here goes :). I will attempt to explain the difference.

At this point only 35 % of votes are counted at Wright County. The current totals are
14097 Coleman
7874 Franken
That gives you an edge of 6200 for Coleman, roughly.

Compare that with the Nov 4 totals
ca. 33K for Coleman and 18.6K for Franken for a difference of 14.4K for Coleman.

That means that in that county alone Coleman, all things being equal (which is a HUGE if in the last couple of days), will make up about 14,400 – 6200 = 8200 votes.

The situation in Scott County is somewhat similar with only 59.1% counted. But there too Coleman is projected to make up 3100 or so for the net total of about 11,300 which is Franken’s current recount margin (11,266) on the SOS site that Nate is quoting.

The challenges will make up the rest of the difference, which is tiny by comparison.

Hope this helped.
~Latte,

who is more maddened than saddened by these W3 P1 missing 133 ballots. Those precinct judges deserve to be shot!

Who is doing the bookkeeping? This isn’t rocket science, this is pretty straight forward stuff, no matter how busy it gets. As a Franken volunteer during the very organized recount, I cannot fathom how a discrepancy, nay, scratch that discrepancIES this large do not get reported until the 12th hour. Those precinct judges KNEW, they KNEW APRIORI that their count was way off! They were URGED by both SOS Mark Ritchie and by Mark Elias and Franken campaign to report the discrepancies up front. AND NADA!

Shame on them! These precinct judges from Maplewood and from esp. from Woodbury and particularly Ramsey Ward 3, precinct 1 ought to be shot behind the same barn as the GOP Coleman observers/site leaders from Fillmore county who challenged McCain/Palin/Franken ballots on the ground of “GOP voter intent”. No mercy for these slackers. They give our democracy a black eye!

Man, am I pissed!

My boss, if he were more computer literate, would be The. Biggest. Concern. Troll. Evah. He has an ancient, and I do mean ancient, Mac. This thing looks like something out of an old scifi film, wires and cables everywhere. The guy who maintains it, and made a fortune in the process, has tried to get him to get a new machine but boss is terrified of computers and thinks if he gets a new one all us geeks will steal everything in his house.

I copied and googled your link but that didn’t work. And I read what Nate had to say from Blue Texan’s link. And I just read The UpTake from your last link. I thought, from Blue Texan’s headline “Lost Ballots found in MN recount?” that there was a new story about the ballots potentially being found. Looks like not.

I’m one of the people who stayed up til 4 am Election Night hoping it’d get called for Franken.

I’ve only worked for him for 8 but known him over 20 years. He hasn’t changed a bit. Good natured guy but just out there in the world of politics. Terrible financial manager as well. One of these guys who thinks there’s no end to credit. Will go to his grave in debt while his FIL has gazillions in the bank and property worth gazillions more. Every year at this time FIL gets me to add up his property tax totals. This year they totaled in excess of $250K. Go figure.

PW, did you catch Katherine Kersten’s op piece on the recount in the Strib yesterday? Another example of why republicans should never attempt satire.
Her political slant aside, she is a remarkably poor writer. I would like to know how she got the job.

This recount goes on and on, and the nastiness abounds in MN. Norm Coleman brings out the very worst in his Repug posse and not much better in those who square off with him.

MPR is doing pretty good coverage of the whole deal.

Oh. Good morning, everyone.
