Out here, San Francisco is going to charge people to use the bridges coming in and going out for a new fee.

It’s a USER fee, for going thru The City.

The rest of the Bay SOUTH of SF, is not accessable from the EAST, for the most part, without GOING thru SF.

This will cause greater costs for folks from Sacto and from all points EAST of SF, who need to go THRU SF, to work on the Peninsula. No mention about if this fee will be charged on the rail system, as well.

I’m a left coaster, I’m not FAMILIAR with the road tolls back east, but they’ve always sounded BAD to me. Now the concept is here on the Left Coast.

Only a matter of time before ANY city that’s on a thruway to somewhere else, charges a user fee, too.

USA, a country of lil fiefdoms of taxable revenue . . . and all the citizens pay more. Gimme a centralized government anyday . . . screw the small minds.

America’s Class War:

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/bu.....3666.story

How much are you willing to pay to get out of congestion?

How much are you willing to pay to travel the very roads you already paid for?

If traffic becomes gridlocked in the regular “free” lanes, tolls could spike as high as $6.20.

Because they’ve effectively reduced the capability of the slower lanes, gridlock at rush hour is virtually assured, thereby enabling the highest fee, which is sure to go even higher.

Folks I camp with, and in other camps love to do Stone’s songs when we are all at fests . . . . done in a ‘newgrassify’ style that one . . . gits, dobro, mando, banjo, fiddle, doghouse . . . often a harp to join in . . . great classic tune it is, as are MANY Stones tunes, for the acoustic fest camp jam scene! *G*

Wild Horses, Sittin On A Fence, No Expectations, Salt Of The Earth, You Got The Silver. A fav closer is Far Away Eyes . . . complete with the narration.

Sigh. I miss fest season. Is it late May yet?

At the Newport Folk Fest, in ‘65, Dylan went in search of Al Kooper (played the organ on Like A Rolling Stone earlier that year in the studio), Mike Bloomfield, Sammy Lay (stix) and Jerome Arnold from Butterfield’s band.

He hit Sunday night, for his FIRST ever electric performance, which shook the folk world upside down.

This is pretty legendary stuff, thought I’d help keep the story straight. These ARE my heroes . . *G*

And I LIKE the two Hey Joe clips ya put up. Good flashbacks!!!

A bit of wiki would reveal there was some guy in ‘58 who wrote the song, and sold it to Dino Valenti (Quicksilver Messenger Service) and yes, The Leaves (GREAT clip BTW) cut it before anyone else did, before Hendrix. I’ve never been able to trace the link between Dino Valenti and The Leaves.

Anyone older n me might know?

The SF and Peninsula music scene in ‘63-66 was in such changing upheaval and creative turmoil as the synthesis for the Summer Of Love was blending among folk, blues, rock, pop and other genres and artists. I was clubbing from The Peninsula at age 15 beginning in ‘68.

I missed Longshoreman’s Hall, where The Leaves played a lot.

On the Peninsula there was in Belmont, The Chalet, which I never got in to, but stood outside one night . . .

By ‘68 the clubs and venue’s were legendary . . . from San Jose, Palo Alto, Redwood City up to The City.

Heady pheakin times with some of the greatest music ever performed. It was a mixing and melting pot of people, genres, and output. Just like the rest of the nation, only more . . . Bay Area was leading the way. *G*
