Saxby Chambliss is a Bush/Cheney Republican and a pawn of Big Business, and he ran the sleaziest, most reprehensible campaign imaginable against Jim Martin. And chasing him from the Senate gives us a real shot at a fillibuster-proof majority.
So if you’re in Georgia, or you’ve got friends and family there, you know what to do.
Election day links:
- Find your polling place at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website
- Turnout has been higher than expected
- But so far seems to favor Chambliss

wonder by how much martin will lose? i guess 10%. is there anybody optimistic?
Hi, I voted at ten and there was a small line, which is unusual for a runoff. Normally, there isn’t a wait for a runoff election. The poll worker said that the line was steady all morning. Unfortunatly,I live in a conservative burb.
Last poll (from last night I believe) was within the margin of error.
i wish that were true. now i guess i have to give him a chance. go jim.
The turnout north of Atlanta is pretty steady. That’s not a good sign. Martin needs strong turnout in DeKalb County and the city of Atlanta if he is going to have a chance.
what is your sense from the mood in that area? is it really possible to swing that state at this time?
Raw Story:
These lost cause idiots aren’t going to elect Martin but I don’t know why anyone here cares since they have decided Obama is just as bad as Bush.
i am not particularly a fan of al but he is going to have to get tough to win. hope he has enough $$$$
not me. bama is my savior. :)
bama is gonna get beat by the gators saturday
“Lost Cause idiots.” That made me laugh.
not that bama silly. gators are good this year?
I sure hope so. If we do, I think we can beat Oklahoma.
I’ve told the folks in my office I’m taking names and attendance and that I expect to see “I voted” stickers tomorrow morning. Heaven help the people who don’t vote… They will be dead to me… Cross your fingers, light your candles, say your beads, fly your prayer flags, do whatever it is you do to bring good fortune, and if you’re in Georgia GO VOTE!
Oh, and whatever happens please don’t blame us here in Savannah. Chatham County went 57% for Obama, with a similar showing for Jim Martin, in the general.
silly it was, I am no Gator fan but they are very good, ask the Dragon
do you think martin has an adequate machine to turn out his votes?
damn sure can’t blame the People’s Republic of Athens
two ways
no way
no fucking way
what’s the balance in the Senate now without Martin? I guess that also depends on the perpetual MN recount.
so, you think the margin of error poll is crap? or just close?
The state is crawling with former Obama staffers and organizers. Check out this from Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight.com, who was uncannily correct about the general. I don’t know if it will be enough to overcome the “bubba bloc,” however.
Jeebs,
Haven’t seen you in a while.
Hope all is swell.

Any news on the turnout in your neck of the woods. Unfortunately, turn out looks strong for a runoff in my area. Sh*t.
I hope it is but 25 years of living here has not done much to convince me.
I think that Saxby will win by greater margins than you predicted.
sorta self imposed persona non grata if ya know what I mean
Been meanin’ to ask you did you attend the activities at School of Assassins? IIRC you’ve been there before.
well, i don’t underestimate bama with his understanding of ground work. i hope it is the case that resources were put to this task. ga would certainly be a tiping point. i would not do well living there i’m afraid.
Early morning has become a b*tch fest.
I don’t have a clue yet. I’m going to vote after work, and I’ll report when I get back home after looking for a Christmas tree. (You have to get them EARLY down here…)

Newt was right, Stalinism on the left;)

My whole family lives in LA and I wouldn’t live there for all the tea in China.
Say no to Suxby.

I toss beverages, baked goods, the NYT columnists, and generally duck out…
Well, no wonder, bro! You’ve been a trouble maker since the tender age of 17.
Naw, man, I knew that. You know what I’m talkin’ about.
i like yo style. bring it.
me either!
17th birthday in fact, the judge said, whatcha gonna do son? I was way too good lookin to go to the joint.
4 doctors, 3 audiologists, 1 nurse practitioner, and about 20 others.
And I always tune in for that. I’m going to make your chocolate drops tomorrow.
My homeboy lives on the Oakland Berkley line, not enough ammo to keep me in that hood.
that is not as far fetched as you may think. what i believe we need to do is salt the south. slowly.
I keep going to the hearing doc and they say, it’s bad but the cure is too expensive to be worth it.
Of course there is the “Palin Effect” she did campaign, if rehashing a speech is campaigning, for Shambles. She does have star power in is definitely favoured to be the GOP nominee in 2012. Underestimate the Wasilla Witch at your peril /s*
at the Great Orange Blogcenter, hekebolos is reporting the latest count shows Franken ahead, with 91.3% recounted. IIRC, the margin is about 500 votes.
75% republicans i would guess.
I made a double batch over the long weekend, hoping to have some for gifts, but about half of them vanished into The Cookie Monster, otherwise known as Mr. Marion in Savannah…
Hmm, I’m not so sure she’s favored. What’s she got on Huckabee? Or Jindal? Both bring the fundies without quite so much stupid/baggage.
So you opted for three years at various gated communities, as I recall.
Wouldn’t Tricare and/or the VA pick up your bills? We see tons of Tricare folks…
I was just at the Tabasco Factory on Avery Island, LA. Turn out that it is actually a salt mountain as bis a Everest (underground)
Hey, Raven. Glad to see you.
2 years 10 months, got an early out to go to college. . .and the University of Illinois admission policy has never been the same!
Actually a smaller percentage than that, and I’ve been working on them for years! (You do realize that I’m not discussing voting with the “known Republicans,” don’t you? I’m no fool!)
what up Twain
i, for one, do not underestimate her attractiveness to the right. she is smart as well. it’s all they got at the moment.
I visited there years ago and it was beautiful. I always wondered whether the large trees survived the hurricanes.
Need you here to help me maintain a balance “g”
We did the jungle garden tour and the trees looked fine. Now, the lower 9th, not so good.
yes, ma’am. only talk to those with sense. first rule.
Maybe so but I just get so angry and that ain’t good.
Marion, While I was at check out the clerk at Trader Joe’s mentioned that he thought the runoff was stupid. That the person who had won in the general election should be declared the winner. I mentioned that since it was a law enacted by Republicans in the state, the only way it would change is if a republican lost a runoff.
i’ll bet your logic was lost on the checker.
Felt good though..
The new post that is up writes about Pitt’s “make it right” organization in New Orleans.
Snort!!! I’ll bet that stopped him/her dead it its tracks!
I read somewhere today (here) that the $3 frozen pizza made in Italy is the super or “the best” he says. I might have to get some on our next Trader Joe trip.
Just Voted in Atl GA… Really Hope Jmart kick Saxby out!!! Just hope when he Saxyby is leaving he take the Kitchen sink & everything he used during his campaign against Jmart and CHANGE.
I am ready for CHANGE, GA is ready for change and I can’t Wait!!!!
Step back a minute. Forget the “We’re blue and he’s red”. Just look at the candidates. How could anyone, other than a millionaire, vote for Saxby?
What is going on? It isn’t just Georgia. It seems most don’t even see what the candidates stand for/have done in office. They just vote for the one with an R after his name.
(And any … ANY … mother — or decent human being — could NOT vote for Saxby after that Thanksgiving commercial.)
