Tweety has been working real hard to be tough on Bush lately. What better show of the blogs power than the Talking Heads starting to get in line to follow us. What does the high command think of his conversion?

Very tough fior Franken. Much rather be in Coleman’s shoes. Whatta shame. And i’d be amazed if Martin wins. Still, a decent majority imn the senate.

His predecessor was no better. Here’s my comment from EPUland:

Another “expert” on cspan spewing garbage, this time about the polictics of medical care. He avers that the voters determine what congress passes (in the context that those who do not have insurance don’t vote) instead of insurance corps and big pharma. He also calls Tom Daschle a great leader who can get things done in the senate. Bwahahahaha. He couldn’t even get himself reelected when he was majority leader.

Gee, that was an in-depth post. Did JM just wake up to the idea that Netanyahu will win the next election? The Israeli govt has been turning right since Rabin was assassinated. The reichwingers don’t want to co-exist with Palestine, they want the Palestinians to disappear.

I worked closely with Daschles senate office and he is a good person. SD is a red state and the rethugs thru everything they had behind Thune. Ultimately Thune won because he promised that he alone could save Ellsworth AFB, a major economic boost in the Rapid City area.

So what’s the “long-term reform” agenda a dog whistle for, that Pollack keeps talking about? Is that an excuse for U.S. engagement to go into low gear? If so, I might buy into it.

If the Israelis did not have someone to make war against they would have to sort out their own domestic violent tendencies and that could be disastrous for them. It seems they relish stomping on other people to show how “superior” they are. It is amazing how fascist they have become.

Did anybody see the segment on 60 Minutes about the woman medic who was awareded a Silver Star? Seems the 2 guys whose lives she saved feel that women shouldn’t be in their outfit (82nd Airborne) and refused to be interviewed on camera. The other members of her unit that day seem to think that she was just doing her job, no big deal. Good thing there weren’t any breakable objects within reach.

May I suggest something. So many people here have such great ideas and great comments/snarks. Why can’t we bury the e-mails of those whose ideas we wish to influence with our own ideas such that they cannot ignore us? Numbers have been known to influence results. We are not alone. Why can’t we band together with others with similar ideas to influence politics? Hey haven’t we done this before? Barack Obama comes to mind. Why can’t it be done in non-election time? I think we can get Healthcare done. It is the most important effort we face! Let us get one big thing done and go from there to get more….

Re Pollack & “moving slowly.” The dog whistle seems to be anti-election in Middle East. As he just said: so the right people get elected, not the wrong people. I guess the agenda couldn’t be clearer. Let’s see how quickly this catches on among our betters. I’ll be attuned to whether Obama sez anything about ME elections in his presser today.

It’s not only DOD policy, it’s the mindset of the military in general. Women have never been welcome outside of the hospital/clinic environment, particularly among the so-called “elite” forces, where it’s all about macho and control.

There are many who are willing to ask the hard questions and do the work required to turn things round. FDL is just one of those places where the visionaries gather. But there are more who would prefer to spend their time being entertained with mindless pablum. That is one of our biggest challenges.

CNN has an article that Mathews might run against Specter in 2010. Well, Mathews is clearly a Republican and was drawling over Palin when she came out. I hope Dems aren’t stupid enough to think he is a Dem.

As speculation continues to swirl about a possible Pennsylvania senate bid by MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews, Republican Sen. Arlen Specter said on Sunday that he’s not worried about it.

The Patriot-News of Harrisburg reported on Saturday that Matthews met with Pennsylvania Democratic Party leaders to discuss a possible senate run in 2010 against the incumbent Specter.

Matthews, in a statement on the political Web site FiveThirtyEight.com, said reports of him staffing up for a run are “absolutely not true.”
