It’s time for America to start looking a demographic makeup of Congress and government. Other countries such as Israel typically keep track of our makeup.

Americans need to DEMAND some semblance of demographic balance from the news networks, from the faces on TV, in the media, and especially from the political parties and candidates in government, in the press, etc.

Demographics is about ethnicity and we as a country have a need for balance and it is far more than black or white.

That means over-representation of some is as bad as under-representation of others…..whether it be Hispanics, Blacks, European non-Jews, Jews, Eastern Asians, native Americans, Middle Eastern Islamic, etc.

We need to maintain balance in our government and anything less is anti-American.

No way there will be an appointment Obama doesn’t like. Barring new info, looks ok from here - maybe really good. Clearly he’s a progressive.

Interesting educational background, particularly hisPh.D. institution - I’d wondered what became of the University Without Walls.

Hard to assess creepy Moon stuff. First we jail him, then we crown him. Both about money and power. Also ideology? Who knows - maybe not so much. Worthy of note - Davis owned his conduct. Many, many others involved scurried from the light. It was not a secret event in a vacuum. Surely there was tacit leadership approval (or at least knowledge) at some level.

His affiliation with the W K Kellogg Foundation connotes rich and powerful backing. Foundation appears to be doing great stuff for kids worldwide. As always, difficult to know if things are as they appear.

There are three dependably progressive votes in the Illinois House delegation: Jan Schakowsky, Jesse Jackson, Jr and Danny Davis. All three are in the top 10 nationwide of progressive members of Congress. All three have far, far more progressive voting records than Obama by the way.

I do like his statement about tail-wagging, though:

“Any dog that doesn’t wag its own tail ain’t much of a dog.”

I’m always amazed that a person can establish residence in a state at the same time their intention to run for election becomes known and have a chance of winning. Particularly when it is a state as large and complex as New York. I also seem to recall there being some concern at the time that she would only use a Senate seat as a stepping stone to a White House bid.

I was thinking about that but didn’t know how it works in IL. It is a concern for Hillary’s replacement in NYS that the pick be known statewide. She did that bogus “listening tour” to convince people that she wasn’t a carpetbagger who was centered on NYC. IMO is also why they bought a house in the burbs rather than an apt in the city.

As an Illinoisan, I’m concerned about the pick’s chances of getting reelected. Both Davis and Jackson are relatively unknown downstate. Jackson is from a well-known family but that is at best a mixed blessing. Both are likely to be perceived as Chicago insiders. The view downstate is that Chicago always gets the carrot and the rest of us get the stick. Bear in mind there is a good chance Obama wouldn’t have been elected if his Republican opponent hadn’t self-destructed.

Personally, I have a fairly high regard for Jackson Jr.. If the choice came down to him and Davis, I’d go with Jackson.
