Good morning BT and Firepups.

Gotta love blaming the Christmas tree invitation SNAFU on Laura.

It is just something that fell through the cracks,” she said, referring to the role of the First Lady’s office in sending out the invitations.

Fixed it for Laura. (Crossed out the “s” in cracks in case it doesn’t show up very well.)

Cuomo was the first name that came to my mind as a Hillary replacement. He has the ambition, which the article sez is pushing his lobbying for it, no surprise.

Has anyone seen anything about the line that it might be unconstitutional for Hikkary to become SoS since she voted for a pay raise for that office as a senator

Morning B.T. and ALL :)
Hope your Thanksgivings’ was full of food, friends & family.. If not, I hope you at least, were full :)

That stuff going on in India is just ’strange’.
The targets etc were odd choices and WHO? deliberately pisses on/off
‘The State of Israel’? Taking over and holding (not just bombing and running)a Jewish building/school/church/person ANYWHERE is really, really bad for you and your family’s health.
Plus, hitting/holding TWO five star Hotels and several other things/places? Well planned, well executed and It worked. These folks apparently came out of no-where? trained and prepared to be able do this? And We* didn’t know anything? Odd.

Interesting point. Compare the “we know nothing” about the Indian attacks, vs. 9/11 when photos of the hijackers were on the news before the day ended.

Yuppers, I heard it, too. That and the lawsuit being brought to the Supreme Court (I think), based on the story that Obama was born out of the U.S. and is therefore a constitutionally ineligible president-elect.

I read something the other day
Ambinder

Pete Williams of NBC raised the question on MSNBC this afternoon: Is Hillary Clinton barred by the Constitution from accepting the post of secretary of state?

Article One, Section Six of the U.S. Constitution says:

No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.

.
Congress gets around it:

Stephen writes
November 25th, 2008 5:35 pm

This problem has arisen a number of times in the past. Both Republican and Democratic Presidents have solved it by asking Congress to lower the salary of the appointee’s new job back to the level it was before Congress voted to raise it while the appointee was serving in the Senate or House.

Republicans Taft and Nixon, as well as Democrats Carter and Clinton fixed similar problems with Cabinet appointments from sitting members of Congress in this way without a Constitutional challenge. I doubt this will be a big deal this time.

The contrast in the ledes of the two stories about how Bush and Obama are dealing with the attacks in India really struck me.

Bush: “Boy, am I sorry!” Obama: “Let’s get the whole world involved and go get these bastards so they stop indiscriminately killing people.”

Sure wish we had a President now instead of having to wait until Jan. 20.

Morning everyone. I trust you all had a filling Thanksgiving.
I’m a New Yorker. I’m not crazy about Cuomo. Seems more ambitious than capable. But, then again, maybe I’m wrong. I’ll have to investigate more. Plus, I think he’d be vulnerable next election. Good thing they got Spitzer out of the way.

Alveda was a very talented lady. She did it when I was in Nam and gave it to me at Xmas when I got back. She won awards at events catering to that stuff. And this with almost crippling arthritis in her hands. Committed suicide at 85 because doctor’s wouldn’t give her narcotics for pain because they were afraid she’d become addicted. By then her hands were virtually useless.

Barbara - had a not-so-nice stepmother.

Heh. I have a great SNAFU story. While I was working for a really picky boss, I used that word in a report. He objected and I said: if it’s in the dictionary can I use it? He said yes. It was in the dictionary (without revealing the acronym) and it went in the report. When I got home that night, I repeated the story to my husband who roared with laughter. When I asked what was so funny, he told me what it stood for. Best joke ever on that stupid jerk of a boss.

Hey BT and Pups!

Say, speaking of well-oiled machines, I know CNN’s bizzy today ‘n all but, in case no-one’s mentioned it yet, I don’t think those are Clydesdales either. Belgians? generic non-xmus greeting-card equines? Just sayin’, definitely NOT Clydesdales. Plenty of blame to go ’round ‘n round. Someone at the bigwhytehouse should have wondered why those cards were on sale. Such a good deal!

Sorry to be so diffeecult this a.m. Too much turkey in the news yestidie.
Has that northern light returned to AK yet from GA? Did she pick the correct GA? How come everyone gives her clothes every time she opens her um, face amd starts babbling?

Please hurry, January 20. Please!?!

That’s rich. I guess, in the evolution of language, a lot of terms lose their original off-color meaning. I guess when it is the norm to say something “sucks”, or someone is a “jerk”, snafu ain’t so bad.

CNN may have thought they were toning-down the description by not saying that it was FUBAR.

It was heartbreaking to see her go through that. Discussing it with her doctors was to no avail. I’ve always been surprised I kept my cool talking with those fools. She was very special to me. Handling that cup is very therapeutic. Nobody touches it but me.
