Ernest T. Bass, Esq. ladies and gentlemen — he’s a professor and everything!
I feel a little sorry for Martin Luther King — his enormous accomplishments got less attention than they deserved because of the cult of Malcolm X, and now he’s being eclipsed by Barack Obama.
Yeah, I shall contemplate this in January during the National Holiday named after him. That is so clearly the message Martin Luther King intended to convey. As we all know, so many of us failed to vote for McCain because we did not want the enormous accomplishments of [oh I don't know, Larry Bird?] to be neglected.

I think Dr King and Malcolm X are smiling down on Obama right now. An African American President is a big part of the dream. I think this putz needs to take an African American Studies course.
A president whose gifts and character allowed him to follow the path laid down by those who came before is good on all of us, the quick and the dead.
Perhaps Mr. Bass might consider speaking with a range of American citizens rather than jumping to silly conclusions.
Thanks Attaturk. I must admit that I am, until now, unfamiliar with Mr. Bass’ work. Appears I wasn’t missing anything.
Good morning pups. CBL and I hope all have a happy and safe holiday.
I heard this in an interview on NPR before the election about how African-Americans felt about Obama’s candidacy:
”Rosa sat so Martin could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama runs so our children can fly.”
Let the haters hate – the ones who are important know.
Professor Bass would know these things because you can see GA from Tenn
Happy Thanksgiving, pups! The NYT stable seems to be back from vacation. This morning we have Collins, Cohen and Kristof. Ms. Collins, in “Count Those Blessings,” says sure, this isn’t the absolutely best and brightest holiday season ever. But look at the pluses. Mr. Cohen, in “A Command of the Law,” says he is thankful that the next commander in chief is a constitutional law expert, since what defines the United States is that it is a nation of laws. Mr. Kristof, writing from Meerwala, Pakistan, sends us “Giving Thanks to Heroes.” He says in a culture where women are supposed to be weak, the women in Mukhtar Mai’s shelter in rural Pakistan are indomitable.

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got gooey cinnamon rolls just out of the oven, dripping with frosting. Now I’m off to the kitchen to see if I can remember how to make cranberry sauce with fresh cranberries, a lovely large bag of which I found in the market. And creamed onions…. Yummmm….. Have a great Thanksgiving, and we can all be thankful that there are only 54 days of W left.
Morning! Kristof’s op ed is a must read. Why do we send money to this country that can’t even protect their own?
buenos dias!
I just know there’s many a turkey getting dressed this morning for the big day.

True dat!
Fear rules wingnuttia and the most fearsome thing to them is always the most important. Therefore Malcom X, who was (in their eyes; they didn’t understand the power of nonviolent demonstrations) more fearsome than MLK, is the more important of the two because the wingnuts were more afraid of him. And we have to take our shoes off before we can get on an airplane, Hispanics are taking over all the good lettuce picking jobs white people ought to have, etc., etc., etc.
And in conclusion: “I LOVES you Ms. Palin!”
True dat too!
