ZED! Hi Suz!
Suzanne!
Is that Bradley Schlozman in the back?
Happy Turkey Day!
pups! everyone have full bellies?
Hey, Suzanne. Great choice for the good-bye Thanksgiving 2008!
I love our chances now. I’m thankful for Barack Obama. (And why is his name still underlined as a spelling error???) Pisses me off.
((( Suz )))
*Buuurp*
Digg it Pups!
B-cuz Cheney controls Bill Gates ! *g*
Dugg!
I had a very nice Thanksgiving at my folks today and for dessert my kids came over for a while.
Beauty.
I stopped by yer Blog and wished ya a Happy Thanksgiving earlier Suzanne.
You’ll see it later.
Full Belly! You BET!
But now my sweetie will be playing non stop Christmas music…. OH well I should be used to it by now!
Sir Yes Sir !
i got in about 20 ago from seeing the bride – haven’t seen her since they moved to oregon early part of the summer.
*sigh* it was wonderful seeing that she is still radiant, happy, and doing well. it was something i had to see.
hey busted – i replied via email – thanks babe
Hey Everyone. Happy fading t-day.
what was the best thing about thanksgiving for ya’ll?
Well who knew Balrogs could have insomnia?
Anyone left here to sing me a lullaby?
Oh, I had such eating restraint today, and I cooked my little fingers to the bone. One mishap — cooked pumpkin pie with all great new Penzey spices, and organic sugar, in not pumpkin, but ach! pumpkin pie mix! Pie was black like shoo fly pie (but not too bad tasting…)
Happy happy, jacqrat!
hahahahaHA
*singing*
lullabye
and goodnite
go to sleep or the monsters under the bed will get ya
Getting back home to my place! Family is great but it is good to be home in my place.
Besides I get to visit with my OTHER Family!
Howzabout a little Nat King Cole … The Christmas Song
amen.
oy – but how it tastes is really what matters – you just started a new family turkey day tradition – pumpkin pie ala noir
Here Balrog some soothing tunez and nice eye candy to lull you to sleep…
I’m listening to ‘He’s Gone’ by the Dead, but that just makes me more awake :)
I swear they introduced the song as “He’s Gone”, a tribute to Balrog’s 401K.
Bastards.
Oops
… mistakes sound so romantic in French … *g*
i’m spending turkey day nite with my fdl family and would not spend it any other way :)
off to bed (still giving thanks for the past election)
Best thing: at table with best friends and our children flying home from east and west to be with us. Lovely, lovely.
ROFL
Balrogs need lullabies?
Shaking head,
I must have missed that and I have read the trilogy four times!
That’s my cue to whip up a Pitcher of Chocolate Martini …
Noir it was, scary as all get out. But other guests wanted to take some home so I guess it wasn’t the failure we thought! Hey!
Wonderful, Suz! I had both girls here today for the big day. It’s been so long since we were all together. Nice.
And a blankie. And some Longbottom Leaf.
Speaking of Balrogs,
How is the wee little one?
g’nite spurious nice to see ya again
I even bought Laphraoigh single malt from the islands… and pinot for me.
Smoked turkey, fried oysters, stuffing, veggie kebabs and a nice long nap.
Nite spurious…. good to see ya
only thing that wudda made it better was if baby girl wudda been able to come. she had turkey day at her dad’s and is working tonight at the home for developmentally disadvantaged adults.
The highlight of every minute of my life. At 45 I was skeptical about an infant, but he rocks my world.
Oh the nice long nap… that I didn’t get. Lucky you!
hey that guy – ltns – how ya been?
Wow, I’ve never that single malt before … will go hunt for it on the weekend …
Dugg it!
Oh yum. That is my favorite Scotch.
Here you go, just for today. Course you’re too young to remember the beatnics! I was in sixth. Bout the time Kennedy was killed.
thanks suz and nahant, nice to be here, if only briefly. night all.
Mr. CE informs me that there is NO h at the end of Laphroaig.
Hey Neuro hows it going tonight?
Um … that would depend on how much you’ve quaffed … *g*
Pie!
Good for babygirl, Suz. Lots of kids are going to be carrying out Obama’s wishes and volunteering. She should get free college if she’s working (volunteering) for the right group pretty soon. I know that volunteering cuts seriously into the money, though…
ChelseaRog sang “Today” for her 6th grade performance. You funny!
Here’s another “Today” for the ages.
We will find out tomorrow when the in-laws arrive.
she gets paid – low and no benefits – she works two part time jobs at two different group homes. she works the overnight shift at both homes. one week she worked 62 hours and not one penny of overtime since it was split between the two houses.
she’s coming out in feb – my christmas present to her is an airplane ticket. it was on her xmas list :)
Help yourselves to the Chocolate Martini and Macallan, I’m off to bed.
G’nite all !
g’nite petro
Lahroag.
Where’s the “P”?
Running down my leg.
Ba-dum.
it’s going all right, nahant. had total of six at our table today. the usual Thanksgiving fare. didn’t exactly have a nap but sat in a reclining chair without moving for two hours and I d believe I was in the grip of the Tryph for a while there. ate second round of dinner about 10:30 p.m. and am winding down now.
thinking about another piece of pecan pie before I retire…
nice to see all you pups
*groaning*
Thanks! Reminds me of the one time a girlfriend and I went to the Community Concourse in San Diego and bummed the money to go in. Never thought it would work, but had to quit after about 5 minutes…had enough money. Jefferson Airplane was great!
She’s coming out?!
I have to work tomorrow, yay, I am glad I have a freakin’ job but it is going to suck when all of the office people bail out at ten oclock.
Gnite y’all.
I have to work Friday, but am having another dinner for relatives this night. The kids will roast the turkey and everything else is leftover from tonight. Trader Joe’s has a wonderful selection of nibbles and cheese. BEST thing about the dinner — we all voted for Obama! There will be much discussion.
In case you missed this diary, I almost died laughing at the comments.
yup – i haven’t seen her since she came out for jen’s wedding in may.
in feb, i can sit with both my girls in the same room at the same time.
big assed smiled
g’thud busted
homemade pecan pie?
Wonderful!!!
no, but probably better than that would be if I made it…
Sounds just like it should be! Family, talk and good deserts to sweeten it all up! And of course those quite times to just drink it all in and savor…
nite Busted sleep well(:>))
Good for all three of you! Weird when you have to ask your kids if they’d like a glass of wine though, huh?
still have a year to go with stephanie before she’s 21. she’ll be 20 two christmas.
i’m sorta used to it with jen – she’s 31.
FORK – two days before christmas
Suz having all your family together is about as good as it gets in life(:>)) We will be having everyone but my oldest and his family together the Saturday after New Years for our family holiday get together. That will be five of six kids with spouses and five of the six grand kids…. We can’t wait, it is so hard to get them all here at the same time! Some day we can pull it off alas not this time.
Offer the minors a glass of Laphroaig.
They’ll either never drink again or become lifelong single malt connoisseurs.
and they will sleep good tonight
Niters! Will need double expresso in daylight.
sleep well christine e
I retract my lullaby request. I’m having fun rapping with you folks.
xoxo to all here.
retracted and i’ve stopped singing (i’m sure ya’ll appreciate that)
Suzanne, your toon reminded me of “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth”
hadn’t thought about those singing chipmunks for quite a while.
i’m on the phone with baby girl and she told me that she was singing this song today.
thanksgiving does kick off the start of the christmas season.
Same to you, Balrog, and to all here. So glad to have you guys to read and talk to.
mmm. me too. i don’t do spirits often (hope that doesn’t seem like I’m dissing the flames of Udun), but when I do Laphroaig’s the first pick. Mmm: smoke and iodine and peat and sea.
for all those going shopping tomorrow
hey kirk
Strange. I used to drink bourbon, but the only scotch I ever drank and liked was Lagavulin, another peaty, smokey Islay.
Hey Kirk!
What self respecting Balrog would pass on smoke and iodine and peat and sea?
Add in an Orc (Filbert) and all is well.
Have a great rest of the year and subsequent 4 year Obama Kirk.
All, good night.
g’nite balrog
1,840 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…’
Citizen Suzanne and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
A happy and peaceful post-Thanksgiving to all the FDL patriots and especially to the late night regulars. I got a final night in the box so a young mother could be with her two youngsters and folks for a holiday dinner…so stoke it up Sister Suzanne and keep the tunes comin’…it’s gettin’ ta be peace on earth time so especially to those in India and Pakistan tonight, we are all here for you and we will be bringin’ some serious peace police to that part of the problem we have cultivated over the last 4-5 decades…hang in there world, Obama is gettin’ it sorted out!!
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THE STRUGGLE IS ALL WE HAVE!!
peace on earth indeed, norske
tis a good thing you did for that young mother
christmas time is here again
You had to bring that out…
Been a while.
Here Norske something to keep you awake!
it is officially christmas time now that thanksgiving is over. i heard my first christmas song october 4th but to me, the season doesnt start until after i’ve had my thanksgiving meal.
Michael Franti – Bomb the World
g’nite, balrog: good dreams.
hi newt and suz!
The Christmas music has started here… it will be almost non stop…
Here is one from the Chieftains
how was your turkey day kirk? did the cats enjoy some turkey?
Hiya pups!
I’m staring at the dessert and coffee dishes. Do I want to do them too? Nah!
Happy Thanksgiving. Had a great dinner with another couple who are also having their first Thanksgiving without any kids home. We had a good dinner, good time laughing.
hey et. dishes, smishes – they can wait. of course, having no kids at home means no kids to do the dishes afterwards (laughing). twas strange having turkey day with no family to share it with – this was my first one with family in several years and it felt dayam fine.
We have some very fine china that we inherited from Ms ET’s family. It comes out on T-Day, Christmas and maybe one other time all year. It all has to be hand washed and dried immediately – that gold crust thing. Same with the sterling silver that goes with the china.
Citizen Teller:
A well earned Happy Thankgiving to you Brother Teller…I hope you ken have some Thankgivings in the future with kids and grandkids…we did and it was better’n any we’ve had in years. We didn’t hafta out up with any a MY crazy relatives and Mrs. Norske’s brother and sister and families were better’n they’ve ever been (I think both ‘er siblings took their meds before dinner.)
Peace to you…I hope yer gettin’ taped up for Mooselini’s triumphant return to yer state…do ya think there will be a clean investigation of the vote riggin’ that went on up there?
i like the way you think. *g*
….
happy thanksgiving pups
oy – my mom has the same kinda china and crystal that has to be handwashed immediately – has lotsa gold trim on it.
but… it does make a festive table even more festive – all dolled up and sparkly eye candy to feed the inner me before i chow down.
hey selise – how was your thanksgiving?
good thanks. just coming down from the tryptophan high….
lovely day: spent with my folks and brother in so cal…
oddly enough, tigers didn’t (and haven’t) gone for the big bird…
does bailey like turkey?
Citizen Norske!
Thanks, especially for the wish for peace. And peace to you, too. Grandkids are probably a way off.
As far as holding Sarah Pain accountable, we’re working on it. As far as investigating how and why our vote numbers were so weird and beyond the odds of actually happening, there are people working on the vote, and the state Democrats have requested that all records be kept, none destroyed.
we didn’t eat until around 6 tonight – i’m about ready to start in on round two to amp up my tryptophan levels
Happy Thanksgiving,Norske, kirk, ET, selise :)
we will find out when i pull out the tupperware container with my sent home goodies. token usually turns his nose up at turkey but its been a while since i’ve given him some…
Citizens nahant and selise:
Thanx citizens, Black Sabbath surely brings back the memories…and that Michael Franti tune is jest what an old sentimental grandfather needs when he’s gettin too comfortable with this hope thing…peace to both of you… we’re gunna see an end to this terrible misery but the struggle will go on and on and…
peace and hope to you citizen norkse.
g’nite all.
g’nite selise
That is what life is all about! although sometimes the struggles seem more than we can stand… Like now with the end of Shrubs mismanagement of our country. I told my sweetie that Shrub would be bad when SCOTUS gave him the presidency… But shit I sure didn’t think he could fuck it up as bad he has… of course he had lots of little helpers!
Well at least we got someone who has a brain at least to lead us for the next four years, he will need our help to drown out the republicans mouth pieces who will do their best to screw up as much as possible to make it look as if it was all Obama’s fault that the economy tanked! Bastards they nevr take credit for fucking things up but sure do when things are rosy!
We had to shut our cat, Mooch, in the bathroom during dinner. He thought he could steal or beg turkey from our guests. He is so well named.
Iron Butterfly
happy thanksday, neuro and all!
goodnight, selise – sleep well.
et, thanks for the Mooch story….laughed out loud.
nahant, “mismanagement” is much too kind a word! may I suggest an edit, “Shrub’s trashing of our country”…but of course we all understand what we have been through.
well, the food’s put away, the dishes mostly washed, the kitty litter boxes cleaned, and I think that second piece of pecan pie I was contemplating can wait until tomorrow.
it was good spending a little time with you all this evening.
off to bed. ‘nite.
laughing – token is well trained and doesn’t beg but sits in a very noticeable place waiting for his opportunity to prewash the plates. bailey is usually not interested in people food – unless i am having a cheese snack late at nite – then she wants me to feed her pieces of it and is very vocal about it.
g’nite neuro – pecan pie is wonderful for breakfast
attaturk is upstairs
g’nite all and thanks for hanging out with me tonight
