What’s that bunky? You can only afford turkey jerky for Thanksgiving as you watch your favorite team, the Detroit Lions? Lose your job, your life savings, your house? Remember this…
Kathryn Lopez retains her job as an Editor at the National Review. An editor who cannot edit, let alone spell or write in complete sentences. Bill Kristol still gets a big salary as a political pundit for being zero-for-the last eight years, now threatening to catch up to Dick Morris’s all-time record.
And finally, with a combination of all the non-skills and demonstrable lack of talent described above, George W. Bush still got himself two terms as President having possibly lost both elections.
Proving for once and for all, there is no God — or if there is one, he and/or she is a bit of a dick.
Feel better?
But hey, Ann Coulter has had her gaping maw jaw wired shut, so there are some small miracles.

Ann Coulter – mouth wired shut – some small sign that a god exists.
Money might buy alot of things
One thing it won’t buy is competence
Ask George!!
Maybe now, with the election of a president that succeeded in all his endeavors ,we will see an end of the “culture of incompetence” that has taken over our country!
That being said, as a spiritual person, I find it more and more difficult to find God in anything. I don’t like to sound blasphemous, but I don’t believe that the God of the Bible exists for any of us while the world continues to bless those who are blind and deaf to the needs of so many while continuing to rob those who need and deserve so much. How can so much mean so little to so many? My heart breaks every day as so much is taken from those with so little and given again and again to those with so much.
All that being said I will say that if there is a God, he/she/it pisses me off. How can you stand by and let seriously awful people get away with seriously awful actions. Are we the people to blame for allowing them to happen? Should we have stood up and spoken and led actions against such evil? How guilty are we, the people, of letting it happen while we sat back and proclaimed such evil, but did nothing actively to stop such actions? I wonder….
I wish you all well.
Every time I think of her in this situation I have to smile.
Just gotta love the irony of it…..
isn’t it the truth….
I have to say I don’t understand?
Sorry — National Lampoon Radio Dinner, 1972 I think, humor of a sort. Here’s the full text:

I have to ask if attaturk wrote this, do you not have a responsibility to respond…..?
The power of podiatry compels me.
You make fun of my spirtual distress, how nice….
For a good time call 606-4311. Your poem, not mine. Best of luck!
Sophie, I’m not making fun of anybody. I’m sorry if you took it that way.
God bless you on your journey. Bye.
Thanks, Attaturk. I thought I was the only one unable to figured out how someone who so obviously can’t write can be employed as an editor. While it is true enough to say that I can’t write, I have never, not once in my life, applied for a position having anything to do with writing.
‘morning pups.
I wish you the best always, if I misunderstood anything I beg your forgiveness and wish you nothing but the best….!
Wouldn’t this present an excellent opportunity for Olbermann to book Coulter for an in-studio interview, asking her as many probing questions as possible?
We live in a crony based, who do you know and who do you blow society. Polite words for it include “networking” and “synergy” and relationship building.
Merit carries almost not weight.
Accountability is a non concept in this culture.
No concern for anything outside the self and the family.
No concern for the future or the environment outside your own immediate “world”.
Wealth, power and connections are the measure of success and it doesn’t matter how you get them.
We are not here to share the planet but exploit it for our personal gain.
Violence can solve problems.
That’s what is the “American” way. And we have poisoned the world with these values too.
Good morning, pups. The NYT has Mr. Friedman, flying solo today, in “All Fall Down.” He says that after a near total breakdown of responsibility at every link in our financial chain, now we either bail out the people who brought us here or risk a systemic crash. These are the wages of our sins. MoDo is off today. Let us pray that she is not cooking up another one of her “fiction” pieces…

The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got apple walnut muffins just out of the oven. Yesterday at this time it was 56°, today it’s 32°. Half of the people in town have colds and sinus infections, and half of them will probably try to get into our office today to see the ENT docs… I’m looking forward to 4 whole days off in a row — it’ll feel almost like I’ve retired! Have a great day.
Bush/Republican Administration Legacy:
They taught a nation’s children how to lie, cheat, steal and destroy others.
Yet they insist they are “religious,” despite their amorality.
Weird weather it’s been……up, down, up, down; a little consistency would be appreciated. That being said, I kicked the potted plants out yesterday and told ‘em to make it or freeze.
Have a lovely holiday!
How sad are these truths….
I get a kick out of your “make it or freeze”, you very funny, make me laugh…thank you… happy Thanksgiving!
Considering Ann Coulter talks out her ass, her mouth wired shut will have little effect.
I’ve brought the asparagus ferns in because Mr. Marion in Savannah would be heartbroken if they didn’t make it, but everything else is on its own. Some things reseed (basil, my God how that spreads!) and some things (spider plants) come back from the roots so I don’t fuss over them too much.
Question on those a. ferns……..I’ve a huge one that I left out thru’ our recent fluctuations and it *seems* to be O.K. for the moment. Definitely brought it inside last year. But I see people who have them planted inground year’round in the SE corner of the state; need to ask if they survive or also do some research to determine what their freeze point actually is.
The fact is that the masters of the universe screwed the world economy with the schemes for more wealth creation for the already wealthy and the ponzi scheme to bring a few more thousands into the club. The rest of us are just worker bees to exploit, pave streets, clean houses, work on farms, in kitchens, and so forth.
Capitalism such as the masters of the universe have done is a complete failure. All the schemes have now come full circle and all that there is is huge debt. The money lenders have taken us into hell with their false notion that we need to grow and credit is how we do it… and those in the money biz are gonna make things bigger!
Now we are printing money trying to sill up all those credit sink holes that the finance sector has created. Consumers who were MADE to play the credit game, use the company store are SOL. No one is giving them money or lowering their interest or any debt forgiveness. Instead their are being handed the bill for bailing out the finance sector and told that the children and grand children can pay it too since they get to inherit the wonderful world WE created for them.
You won’t be seeing any accountability here. It would mean repudiating the entire system – fee market capitalism. Instead they are flooding the floor of the ponzi with more cash to keep it going for another round.
The bad news is no matter how many trillions they loan to fill in the credit sink holes, the system is kaput and will not recover – ever. At best we are delaying the final complete meltdown and encouraged to buy more as the banks are going to free up consumer credit so we can spend money we don’t have to stim the “real” economy.
The good news is that the “big” capitalism game may finally be coming to an end and a new paradigm will have to be put in place out of necessity if humans are gonna survive on this planet. We have a finite resource and we need to have sustainable solutions and give up the idea of GROWTH as god. This means reducing the population too and getting on with reduce, recycle and re use.
There are people who understand this future and in time they will be listened to, but for now the same jerks who drove us to hell in the free market. growth is god, the exploit and extract world, that americans are “exceptional” etc are at the con. Even Obi thinks these guys can get capitalism right with some discipline. He’s wrong.
slight edit
I am so sorry if I said anything to make you sorry about contributing to the Lake. You were very funny and apropos with your poem @31 please continue to contribute. You are very welcome….I find you very funny…not that you need to worry what I think, every one here thinks you are very funny….!
Not sure what the policy at the Lake is about passing such things along (and don’t know source) but it was too cute to resist…especially in light of recent palin events:
This is so funny, thanks…!
Good Morning! It’s 30 degrees here. Yesterday the son called and he is having trouble with his sinuses. Being the good mother I mentioned that he had better drive himself to vote early, just in case he feels worse today. (because the secretary of state changed his address, it is easier for him to vote early).
Ours were outside during the first hard frost that killed off the basil and coleus and they did fine. I probably could have left them out, but Mr. Marion in Savannah started to fuss and fret so I brought them in. I really prefer having them outside because they need to be misted inside where the humidity is so much less than they’re used to and they shed worse than the cats… I don’t know how much sustained cold they can take, however.
The earlier the better…
Already copied and sent on. Thanks!
My favorite K-Lo Quote:
Well, I think it certainly looked like he was running for veep until tonight. Wasn’t too absurd a conclusion for folks who wanted to like him but were watching the campaign to draw.
And Trex’s brilliantly snarky commentary:
Did she buy him a new house? /snark
What’s up with that?
Shed worse than lab. retrievers. *g* The one I’m talking about was in an enclosed unheated space for two solid months without water (to heck with the misting) last year and survived. Amazing plants.
We had one that was left outside, unattended, in a pot off in a corner by the side of the house. It was there all winter and looked completely dead. I was just about to toss it out of the pot in the spring when I noticed a small green shoot. That puppy is STILL alive… They’re fiercely tenacious. And just plain fierce too — gotta love those thorns when you’re trying to repot one…
Good morning everyone! The calm brook that flows behind my house was ice lined just a few days ago, but after a day of driving rains & wind, it’s now a rushing river. Holy cow.
And…
I thought it was quiet after this year’s election. Who knew it was because Ann Coulter had her mouth wired shut! Bah hahahahahaha! Apparently she fell down the stairs on her face, which is hysterical, but really, who punched her? I really want to know!
Off to the salt mines, with a belated “thank you” to Waccamaw for the funny story.
He’s been registered in Sandy Springs since 2002 and when the secretary of state was combing through their files, they decided that he actually still lived in a house we used to own in Roswell. The one he grew up in but we sold in the spring. Since both are in Fulton County, it was easier to fix at the county level. He’d would have to vote in Roswell but his license doesn’t match. He has his original voter id card but not the new one. He voted early for Obama/Martin and if he had not his REAL polling site would not have had him listed. I have to wonder how many others in Lewis’ district were affected.
A sobering thought. The many bailouts will cost more than the combined following: The Marshall Plan, the Louisiana Purchase, the New Deal, Race to the Moon, the S & L bailout, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, invasion of Iraq, NASA. This so called bailout is merely an attempt to prop up a corrupted, dysfunctional and broken system. The plutocrats recognize that if the house of cards comes tumbling down their lives are ultimately on the line. Revolutions often tend to be on the bloody side when the old regime implodes.
Good morning.
Money bought what W wanted: deliberate incompetence to show people that govt was the problem. Reagan said it but W thought he needed an actual demonstration.
Heh. Guess he didn’t think there might be blowback. On cspan last weekend there was yet another R panel on what to do now. It was the only sensible one I’ve seen to date. They actually spent a lot of time talking about how important it was to restore competence in governing.
that’s hilarious. thanks.
Obama has reached the highest elected office, not of the nation, but of the plutocracy. He will follow the first and only rule of the plutocracy and that is, protect the plutocracy. Obama will likely be less an agent of change and more of a prop agent. FDR was able to take bold actions against the ruling and moneyed elites because he was of that class. It’s the Nixon to China syndrome. Obama’s humble background will result in a far more tentative and concillatory approach to the ruling elites. His appointments bare this out. The nation can expect half-assed solutions to it’s many vexing problems because there is an unwillingness to challenge the underlying assumptions and myths of ruling plutocracy.
Chris Dodd coming up in 8:30 ET hour on Imus Show. Livestreamed here.
They also get around to putting some of their interview segments up on the website within a day or so.
Sean Hannity called in earlier to whine that “some” are out to drive the true believers in free speech off the air. And Alan Colmes is his BFF forever and his departure was really truly Alan’s idea and Alan has been developing plans, beeeeeeggggg plans for a long time…..
You betcha… they are trying for some sort of a soft landing so that the gallows are not erected by angry mobs storming into Greenwich, New Bedford, Bronxville and so forth.
So where are the angry mobs? On bread lines I suppose – 30MM americans receive food stamps… in the richest country in the world – that’s 1 in 10. Too hungry to fight?
Obama like Dodd are part of the problem and not the solution. Sure they understand democracy, but they don’t understand – or are willing to admit that they do – who pulls the strings in the country and the world – uber wealthy financiers and industrialists. It’s their world, we work for them.
W was simply a empty suit Chauncy Gardiner who funneled money to his puppet masters. He’s dumb as a fence post so he doesn’t get in the way of their agenda. Palin is another one who can be used for their purposes while firing up the empty headed creationist racists in the country.
You don’t give W & Palin enough credit. They’re stupid in the sense of applying intellectual analysis to problem solving, something that we appreciate here. But they are excessively clever at accomplishing their ends. They are tools, as you point out, but they are also actors on their own, shaping things around them very much in line with their vision.
Considering the last 8 years, you might say that W is much sharper than we are. He got what he wanted and we didn’t.
Mornin eCAHN, SanderO et al. Slow morning on the Lake.
Maybe they’re looking for old bottles and rags, now that gas prices are down, because it looks like it’s the other side buying up all the guns and ammo.
In that you are correct. These types love to have their egos massaged and so they have no problem in advancing themselves in service to the highest bidder to the ones who will benefit THEM the most. Egotististical narcissists.
Unless we have a soft landing, when the people realize how deeply they are gettin fugged they won’t take it lyin down and I suspect the security folks are ready to put down some uprisins.
It remains to be seen if this will scare the people, outrage the constitutionalists enough to stop it, or simply intimidate everyone that fascism is the end game for capitalism and if you don’t want to be hauled off to some camp, you’d better shut up and sing.
I’m off to the salt mines. TGIW and tomorrow is no workitude.
Even with your jaw wired shut, you can talk. Makes it very difficult for lip readers to know what you’re saying though. Don’t encourage anyone to invite Coulter to appear in the media. She’ll find her way there on her own.
