Iraqi lawmakers postponed until Thursday a scheduled vote on a security agreement that would extend the U.S. military presence in Iraq. But they have agreed to make the pact subject to a national referendum next year that could require a complete American troop withdrawal by July 2010 — 18 months ahead of what the agreement now envisions.

The referendum was a last-minute concession to Iraq’s largest Sunni party, the Iraqi Islamic Party, which has long demanded that the agreement be put to a nationwide vote. “If there is no referendum, we will not vote yes to the agreement,” said Omar Abdul Sattar, an Islamic Party lawmaker, speaking before parliament postponed the vote.

If Palin draws big crowds in Georgia, which she will and Saxby wins, she will be credited with the victory and it will elevate her credibility of being an electable candidate in the GOP. This is her first venture out on her own campaigning “nationally” as a potential top ticket candidate not the bottom of the ticket, and she is putting future political favors in the bank for 2012 at the same time. Yeah, she is dumb as a fox.

It is amazing how many campaign flyers I have received in the mail from the NR*Cs. I pulled 3 out of my mailbox just today.

Also, the local news reported the white/black vote (I guess no Asians, Hispanics, or Native Americans have voted?) so far at 75%/25%, as compared to 63/37 during the general election. With the omission of other groups, I have my doubts as to the veracity of the statistics. They didn’t state whether that was the ratio of white:black, or if it was non-black:black, or what.
