Zedder-roo? ;-)
thanks for opening the digg neuro
well, you get the idea
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Baking…should be reading FDL but the oven is on!
messed up the Digg link…but it works
Dugg!
Hi Christine
What are you baking for us tonite?
Zedder-troo? ;-)
cookies and pies and cakes and other desserts?
I want Michael Moore’s “Sicko” on National TV we need to prepare the way for National Healthcare. To not use that film would show that our leaders are in the tank to the Healthcare industry.
Martha Stewart’s vanilla pound cake for a cranberry trifle. Just two sticks of butter for the cake, and oh, only two cups of heavy cream and one package of cream cheese for the cream filling.
drooling…
Cripes, and I thought I was bad doing a banana cream pie using Jello banana pudding and bananas with whipped cream on a graham cracker crust…
Damn, those cover color illustrations always draw me into another adventure.
I love a good cream pie, but my family has to have both a cranberry AND a pumpkin dessert.
There are moments, a lull in the stream of bad news items, when I think this is all phony, all genned up propaganda and I hope it’s just a bad dream, so it will all go away. As we see Thanksgiving arriving I think of all those homeowners who are facing foreclosure. This could be one very very rough Thanksgiving.
Where did all the wealth go? I remember as a teen asking that about the ‘29 crash. Where did it all disappear to? Today it seems just the same. Somebody paid a lot of cash for all those houses. Where did it go? It seems likely somebody coordinated this scam. How could it be entirely random as Paulson implies? Who gave us this ‘present’? Will anyone put it together.
I watched Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup, on the Charlie Rose talk show tonight and all I could see was a very scared man who only wanted to convince people Citi was alright and that he wasn’t guilty — in fact he wanted us to know NOBODY was guilty of anything. How’s that possible?
I’m glad Milton Friedman is dead. If he were alive I’d probably want to heap it all on him. But, it wasn’t him or his economics. That’s just a logic, like a political ad, to convince people of doing something. Who paid his bills, made him a career and gave him licence to write and convince the world of his crazy theories?
It makes me depressed for America. It makes me think we really are a nation of thieves and low-lifes…conmen at heart. I don’t want to be that or to live amongst that.
I would love to hear some good news for a change.
gotta have pumpkin pie and pecan pie… all other pies are bonus points
Best wishes to you and yer family for a Happy Thanksgiving.
good news
The good news is, it is physically impossible to count to Seven Trillion dollars.
The bad news is , Bush just tried.
Oh, Busted, and to you and yours, too! You have made me so aware of vets needs, (and being a DFH myself) I do listen to what you have to say. Thanks, dear, for the holiday wishes.
I love the pumpkin too. I’ll really miss it. Unless I break down after Thanksgiving…
Hey Loo Hoo,
Psst! Graham cracker crust…
why no pumpkin pie loohoo?
Someone says “Graham Cracker Crust” and my ears perk up …
((( CE )))
Happy Thanksgiving to all !
We had ours a month earlier … Canucks are a pretty impatient bunch … *g*
Shrub must’ve made some progress in counting to 7 Trillion since he’s been in office…! ;-)
naw, the fool doesn’t have that many fingers and toes to count that high
Mmmm!
Say, how far away are you? /s
And someone gave me a crust recipe made from “Teddy Grahams” of dark chocolate. This is a great graham cracker crust for those of us who fear rolling out piecrust.
The girls aren’t wild about it now. Chryssa used to make it, but ??? I like it, but Christine, graham cracker crust??? That’s just wrong. May be illegal.
Vikram
Panditthe Bandit made out pretty well … over $110 Million just to take the position at Citi … ‘performance be damned’ seems to be the new mantra at CorpAmerica …Noticed that, Petro. What’s the traditional Canuck Thanksgiving meal?
OMG … I just might have to come celebrate Thanksgiving with y’all … *g*
Heh, heh,
And I haven’t baked for months. Ms. CE home from Manhattan tomorrow night, and we will bake pies and make stuffing (and yeah, I’m stuffing the bird, you dressing lovers.
Turkey and all the fixings, including Pumpkin & Apple Pies …
BB King and Buddy Guy
NOOoooooooo. Really, it is just fine. Also, Key Lime pie.
Then let’s talk dressing! Celery and onion, of course…what else? (Tried pine nuts to no hot shakes.)
Someone recommended serrano chiles. That might spice things up a bit!
Mmmmm … Graham cracker crust makes Cheesecake, Lemon Meringue and Life soooo much better …
oh dear – soon we will be doing duck and cover drills again – just like back in the cold war days
my bold
Okay, but both mashed with gravy and sweet potatoes with marshmallows?
Careful, ya’ll turn into Fat Bottomed Girls… (Ducking…) ;-)
yummy ear candy!
We prefer potato skins & candied yams … we make a great fruit salad with marshmallows as a side dish …
No, besides onion and celery here is the Edmonson footprint:
Bakery bread of dark and white
Sausage browned, usually Bob Evans
Toasted pecans
Fresh cranberries
garlic
rosemary
chicken broth
salt and pepper
Mix, stuff.
… about the only fat free thing on this thread …
tossing mashed potatoes at ct
Mmmmmm … definitely have to find some Murkans’ home to crash for Thanksgiving … *g*
I have to laugh after hearing on KPBS this morning that Chavez does TV time whenever he wants to. A weekly 8 or 9 hour show that can include singing or whatever. He just wants to be known!!! And loved, ‘cept that part ain’t turning out so well.
Never tried sausage before … seems like a great idea …
The Russkies are there to shore up support for their amigo, Hugo and prolly stifle the rising discontent at home.
i’ve used sausage in stuffing before – yummy yummy especially when ya add some apple chunks and pecans
My adult son, Mr. Big Shot Business, won’t let me forget it.
Oh Suz, you bet.
Oh my, that sounds wonderful! Could I substitute the cranberries?
Apples, granny smith, Suz?
Of course,
What do you like?
I like the apple idea.
Um … a Bottle of gin ? *g*
Oh yes, and walnuts.
Our family recipe is similar but without cranberries and with fresh roasted chestnuts instead of pecans. Chestnuts are an exotic item these days. I’m going to try your recipe.
stuffing has to be cooked in the bird (but it is ok around my house to bake the stuffing that didn’t fit in the bird in a separate pan). i put all kinda stuff in my stuffing – some tie into parts of the dinner like cranberries and pecans – and others are whatever suits my fancy – oysters, raisens, onions, garlic, apples, etc. i did a fruit and sausage oyster stuffing one year – chunks of apple, pears – and the kids were totally unaware of the oysters in it (laughing)
Heh, what’s stopping ya…? ;-)
I always stray from a recipe… 99% of the time it works… Don’t ask about the 1% tho…! 8-)
or some really tart mcintoshes
Ah, YEAH!
a recipe is a good place to start (unless one is doing baking when ya gotta follow it to get the proportions right – otherwise, things tend to go flat)
LOL … I have a simple motto … get the “Chef” pickled and the food tastes even better …
get everyone pickled and no one cares
That’s my Christmas motto …
Yes!
*burp*
Not passing single payer (like HR 676) will be a sure way to give the insurance industry a boost, and, will forestall efforts for universal care, for a decade–like Hillary Clintons’ did.
Oh, I have to go, or I’ll be fired in the morning. Acch! 2:00 a.m.
Bye Pups.
g’nite christine e
I’ve had that 1% experience occasionally. Not with stuffing because I’ve been too conservative, but with other “dishes”!
Happy Thanksgiving !
I’m off as well … G’nite all !
Petro, why does Quebec get it right, and, the other Provinces don’t…
Quebec’s Liberals set for big election win: polls
What next the Newfies too…? ;-)
g’nite petro
Aloha, Christine and Petro!
Nighters, Christine, thanks for the dressing jolt!
(((Petrocelli!))) Sweet dreams…sweet potato.
A Little Bit More
If the Liberals win in Newfoundland & Labrador, then I expect the next federal election will be won by the Liberals, with the NDP as official opposition.
Oh, I have a “what’s on your mind” thing.
My husband and I were at an open house for his company this evening. The new owners are Mormons. Only different. “The wife” built a multi-million dollar craft business starting from her kitchen table. My husband was the sales manager in the manufacturing business who talked his boss into letting her buy product on C.O.D against the boss’s objections.
That Mormon woman developed a huge network on the slim piece of rope thrown her.
She then bought the business when the boss retired. In all gratitude to him, he looked for the best new owners and sold to her. He could have gone global buy-out, but he’s better than that. A good man.
So, when asked what I was going to wear to the function I said ” My Prop 8 button?”
So glad I didn’t. I learned tonight, once again, we can’t stereo type people. The time is coming when we all may find common ground. Not all Mormons are in agreement with their church.
oooh, a rosie fix.. thanks mrwhy
Can the Liberals get it together enough…? ;-)
True. I’ve known some good Mormons. I’m sure we all have.
Guess I’ve never been aware enough before to actually know that the people I was dealing with were Mormon, Catholic,Jew, Protestant,Muslim, Hindu, whatever.
Seems like religion is the new big deal.
Glad we got some good ones!!!!!!

Aloha, larue!
Just caught yer last Q . . . I THINK near Halifax, I’ll have to ask her again.
This would be in the mid 40’s to the mid to late 50’s, I think is the timeline. We’re talking her formative years . . . . she has vivid memories of them times, as I do of MY time in SE Asia as in my formative years.
As she puts it, they don’t USE carrots in clam chowder. Onions, clams, salt and pepper. Milk if available, and potatoes. Garlicc? Never heard of it.
We argue, at times . . . about that. *G*
about time for me to head out myself. g’nite all and thanks for hanging out with me tonight pups.
Cool! I’ve relatives in the twin cities of Dartmouth and Halifax… The family homestead is located north on the north shore in Pugwash!
Aloha, Suz! Sleep tight!
Well, I shall bow out too… Aloha Oe!!!
