We could rationalize drinking during work hours because we were only having ONE beer… well, sometimes two. Tended to make the afternoons drag a little, though.

Good point. I would add that the 2009 Pentagon budget is already approved and in the pipeline. The next military budget fight could kick up in May, but odds are it will be minor as there is no way Obama will have completed the program audit process by then. The last time there was a serious attempt to audit Defense was in 2002. The key finding then was nobody in the Pentagon could explain where more than a quarter of the money went. Maybe it was corruption, maybe we already have manned bases on the moon, or maybe it is those sneaky cleaning service workers.
